Change the World Chorus Change the world, come with me, Time to let our dreams fly free And it comes so easily That is our way. Ev’ry moment we’re alive It’s our love that will survive In the Girl Scouts together We Change the World. Sisters of ev’ry color, Friends from ev’rywhere We all make a diff’rence when we show the world we care The Girl Scouts are a family and they show us what we can be And I believe together We Change the World. Chorus In America, we have so much to give, To our sisters ‘round the world who are struggling just to live Light the light and do our share, reach out your had and some- one’s there And I believe together We Change the World Chorus I'm Proud To Be Me I'm proud to be me, but I also see You're just as proud to be you. We may look at things a bit differently But lots of good people do. It's just human nature so Why should I hate you? For being as human as I We'll live and let live And we'll give and forgive And we'll all get along if we try. I'm proud to be me, But I also see you're just As proud to be you--it's true, You're just as proud to be you.

Frog Song Hear the lively song Of the frog on yonder pond Crick crick crickety crick Burrrrr-rrrruuummmm! We’re Great We’re great but no one knows it No one knows it so far Some day they’ll realize how wonderful we are They’ll look at us and point at us And when they’ll shout, “Hurray!” We’re great but no one knows it But they will some day.

Chocolate Chip Cookies Chorus: Chocolate chip cookies, you gotta have more You can bake 'em in the oven, or buy 'em at the store But whatever you do, have 'em ready at my door And I'll love ya till I die. They're made out of sugar and butter and flour You put 'em in the oven about a quarter hour, But the thing that gives them their magic power Is the chocolate chips inside. You can't eat one, you can't eat two Once you start chewing, there's nothing to do But clean your plate, and eat the crumbs too Then go and find some more Now when I die, I don't want wings A golden halo or a harp that sings Give me a book, a fire, and someone that brings me Chocolate chip cookies all day

Found a Peanut Found a peanut, found a peanut, found a peanut over there, Thought I'd eat it, thought I'd eat it, thought I'd eat it, didn’t care. Rather tasty, rather tasty, rather tasty but now, Got a pain, got a pain, got a pain, don't know how. Fetch a doctor, fetch a doctor, fetch a doctor, fetch him quick. Appendicitis, appendicitis, appendicitis, feeling sick Cut him open, cut him open, cut him open, save his life. Sew him up, sew him up, sew him up around my knife. Cut him open, cut him open, cut him open ‘til it’s found, Sew him up, sew him up, have you seen my specs around. Cut him open, cut him open, cut him open, - ad nauseam.

I do hope that doggie's for sale I must take a trip to California And leave my poor sweetheart alone If he has a dog, he won't be lonesome And the doggie will have a good home I read in the papers there are robbers With flashlights that shine in the dark My love needs a doggie to protect him And scare them away with one bark I don't want a bunny or a kitty I don't want a parrot that talks I don't want a bowl of little fishies He can't take a goldfish for walks

Girl Scouts Together (sung moderately slowly) Girl Scouts together, that is our song, Winding the old trails rocky and long. Learning our motto, living our creed, Girl Scouts together in ev'ry good deed.

Girl Scouts together, happy are we, Friendly to neighbors far o’er the sea, Faithful to country, loyal to home Known as true Girl Scouts wherever we roam.

Girl Scouts together, Onward we grow Joining as sisters, Stronger we grow Mothers and lawyers, Women in space We know no boundaries, The futures’ our place.

Barges Barges, I would like to go with you; I would like to sail the ocean blue.

Barges, have you treasures in your hold? Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?

Out of my window looking in the night,

I can see the barges flickering light. Silently flows the river to the sea,

And the barges too go silently.

Barges, I would like to go with you; I would like to sail the ocean blue.

Barges, have you treasures in your hold? Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?

Out of my window looking in the night,

I can see the barges flickering light. Starboard shines green and port is glowing red,

You can see them flickering far ahead.

Barges, I would like to go with you; I would like to sail the ocean blue.

Barges, have you treasures in your hold? Do you fight with pirates brave and bold?

How my heart longs to sail away with you

As you sail across the ocean blue. But I must sit beside my window dear, And watch you sail away from here.

Friends Friends are nothing 'til they sing. Together, they must sing the whole day. They must sing the night away. They must sing, together they must sing. Other verses: Friends are nothing 'til they laugh... Friends are nothing 'til they cry... Friends are nothing 'til they love... Friends are nothing 'til they live... (last verse) Friends are nothing ‘til they, Part with teardrops in their eyes. They must go their separate ways, And hope to meet again someday.

Old Lady Leary Late last night, when we were all in bed Old lady Leary lit the lantern in the shed And when the cow kicked it over She winked her eye and said “There’ll be a hot time in the old town tonight!!!” Fire, fire, fire Water, water, water Save my child, save my child Jump lady jump!!! AHHHHHHHH!

Make New Friends Make new friends But keep the old; One is silver And the other’s gold. A circle’s round, It has no end. That’s how long I want to be your friend I have a hand, And you have another. Put them together and we have each other.

Daisy has a disc of blue, They are Scouts that are brand new. They are cute and they are sweet Daisy Scouts are fun to meet.

Brownies have a disc of green They are second on the scene. They wear a uniform that's brown, Their smile song can erase a frown.

Junior level is the next, A yellow disk is on their vest. They say that camping is big fun, And they earn badges one by one.

Cadettes are teens that care a lot, Their service projects hit the spot. A white disc is the one they wear The name Girl Scout they're proud to wear.

Senior discs are red, I know. They are Girl Scouts on the go. With Wider Opportunities, Some Girl Scouts go overseas.

Leaders have no disc at all They come all sizes, big and small. They share their time and talents too. They make Girl Scouting great for you.

On My Honor Chorus :

On my honor, I will try. There's a duty to be done and I say I.

There's a reason to be here for a reason above. My honor is to try and my duty is to love.

People don't need to know my name.

If I've done any harm, then I'm to blame. If I've helped someone, then I've helped me.

And I've opened up my eyes to see.

Chorus

I've tucked away a song or two. If you're feeling low, there's one for you.

If you need a friend, then I will come. And there's many more where I come from.

Chorus

Friendship is the strangest thing

if you keep it to yourself, no reward will bring but you gave it away, you gave it to me and from now on great friends we'll be

Chorus

Come with me where the fire burns bright,

We can even see better by the candle's light. And we'll find more meaning in a campfire's glow,

Than we've ever found in a year or so.

Chorus

We've a promise to always keep. And to pray "Softley Falls" before we sleep.

We are Girl Scouts together and when we're gone, We'll still be trying and singing this song.

THANKS BE TO GOD (Tune: Windy)

Thanks be to God, the father almighty Thanks be to God, who gives us our bread.

Thanks be to God, father eternal Thanks be to God, forever.

He gives us the starry sky!

He gives us the birds that fly! He gives us the rainbows high

Above the clouds, above the clouds.. [echo: above the clouds, above the clouds!]

(repeat "thanks" part) Going to Kentucky Two children stand in the middle of the circle formed by the rest of the children. After the first run through of the some, the center children choose where they are going, why and what is going to be in their hair. Sing the song again with their choices. Everyone claps and dances in place. On the shake it baby part, everyone shakes down to the ground and back up again. The two in the middle twirl around, pointing until Stop! Whoever they are pointing to on stop is in the middle next.

While going to Kentucky, while going to the fair, I met a senorita with flowers in her hair. Shake it baby, shake it; Shake it all you can! Shake it like a milkshake, and do the best you can! Now rumble to the bottom; now rumble to the top! Turn and turn and turn until you make stop!

Taps II Day is done, gone the sun,

From the lake, from the hills, from the sky; All is well, safely rest, God is nigh.

Fading light, dims the sight, And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright.

From afar, drawing nigh, falls the night.

Thanks and praise, for our days, 'Neath the sun, 'neath the stars, neath the sky;

As we go, this we know, God is nigh.

Sun has set, shadows come, Time has fled, Scouts must go to their beds Always true to the promise that they made.

While the light fades from sight, And the stars gleaming rays softly send,

To thy hands we our souls, Lord, commend.

God Bless America "While the storm clouds gather far across the sea, Let us swear allegiance to a land that's free, Let us all be grateful for a land so fair, As we raise our voices in a solemn prayer. " God Bless America, Land that I love. Stand beside her, and guide her Thru the night with a light from above. From the mountains, to the prairies, To the oceans, white with foam God bless America, My home sweet home. I Am Thankful To Be an American I am thankful to be an American, To live in the greatest land of all. In a nation blessed, it's the very best, I can stand with my head up tall. I am thankful to be an American, To be born in a land that's free. I am thankful to God for allowing me to be, An American. Yankee Doodle Yankee Doodle went to town, a-riding on a pony; Stuck a feather in his cap and called it macaroni. Chorus Yankee Doodle keep it up, Yankee Doodle dandy, Mind the music and the step and with the girls be handy. Father and I went down to camp along with Captain Gooding And there we saw the men and boys, as thick as hasty pudding. There was Colonel Washington, upon a strapping stallion, A-giving orders to his men, I guess there was a million. And there I saw a cannon barrel as big as mother's basin, And every time they touched it off they scampered like the nation.

America the Beautiful O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain, For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain! America! America! God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea! O beautiful for pilgrim feet Whose stern impassioned stress A thoroughfare of freedom beat Across the wilderness! America! America! God mend thine every flaw, Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law! O beautiful for heroes proved In liberating strife. Who more than self their country loved And mercy more than life! America! America! May God thy gold refine Till all success be nobleness And every gain divine! O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears! America! America! God shed his grace on thee And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!

O beautiful for halcyon skies, For amber waves of grain,

For purple mountain majesties Above the enameled plain!

America! America! God shed his grace on thee

Till souls wax fair as earth and air And music-hearted sea!

O beautiful for pilgrims feet,

Whose stem impassioned stress A thoroughfare for freedom beat

Across the wilderness! America! America!

God shed his grace on thee Till paths be wrought through

wilds of thought By pilgrim foot and knee!

O beautiful for glory-tale

Of liberating strife When once and twice,

for man's avail Men lavished precious life!

America! America! God shed his grace on thee

Till selfish gain no longer stain The banner of the free!

O beautiful for patriot dream That sees beyond the years Thine alabaster cities gleam Undimmed by human tears!

America! America! God shed his grace on thee

Till nobler men keep once again Thy whiter jubilee!

The Star Spangled Banner Oh, say, can you see, by the dawn's early light,

What so proudly we hail'd at the twilight's last gleaming? Whose broad stripes and bright stars, thro' the perilous fight, O'er the ramparts we watch'd, were so gallantly streaming?

And the rockets' red glare, the bombs bursting in air, Gave proof thro' the night that our flag was still there.

O say, does that star-spangled banner yet wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave?

On the shore dimly seen thro' the mists of the deep, Where the foe's haughty host in dread silence reposes, What is that which the breeze, o'er the towering steep,

As it fitfully blows, half conceals, half discloses? Now it catches the gleam of the morning's first beam,

In full glory reflected, now shines on the stream: 'Tis the star-spangled banner: O, long may it wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

And where is that band who so vauntingly swore That the havoc of war and the battle's confusion A home and a country should leave us no more?

Their blood has wash'd out their foul footsteps' pollution. No refuge could save the hireling and slave

From the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave: And the star-spangled banner in triumph doth wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave.

O, thus be it ever when freemen shall stand, Between their lov'd homes and the war's desolation;

Blest with vict'ry and peace, may the heav'n-rescued land Praise the Pow'r that hath made and preserv'd us as a nation!

Then conquer we must, when our cause is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust"

And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

God Bless The U.S.A. If tomorrow all the things were gone, I’d worked for all my life. And I had to start again, with just my children and my wife.

I’d thank my lucky stars, to be livin here today. ‘Cause the flag still stands for freedom, and they can’t take that away.

And I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA.

From the lakes of Minnesota, to the hills of Tennessee. Across the plains of Texas, From sea to shining sea.

From Detroit down to Houston, and New York to L.A. Well there's pride in every American heart, and its time we stand and say.

That I’m proud to be an American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA.

And I’m proud to be and American, where at least I know I’m free. And I wont forget the men who died, who gave that right to me.

And I gladly stand up, next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land, God bless the USA.

Clementine Chorus: Oh, my darling, oh my darling, Oh, my darling Clementine, You are lost and gone forever. Dreadful sorry, Clementine. In a cavern, in a canyon, Excavating for a mine, Dwelt a miner, forty-niner, and his daughter, Clementine. (Chorus)

Light she was, and like a feather And her shoes were number nine. Herring boxes, without topses, Sandals were for Clementine. (Chorus)

Drove she ducklings, to the water, Every morning just at nine. Hit her foot against a splinter; Fell into the foaming brine. (Chorus)

Saw her lips above the water, Blowing bubbles, mighty fine, But alas, I was no swimmer, So I lost my Clementine. (Chorus)

In the corner of the churchyard, Where the Myrtle boughs entwine, Grow the roses and the posies, Fertilized by Clementine. (Chorus) How I missed her, how I missed her, How I missed my Clementine. Til I kissed her little sister, And forgot my Clementine. (Chorus) Now you campers, learn a lesson, From this tragic tale of mine. Artificial respiration Would have saved poor Clementine. (Chorus)

House at Pooh Corner Christopher Robin and I walked along Under branches lit up by the moon Posing our questions to Owl and Eeyore As our days disappeared all too soon But I wandered further today than I should And I can’t seem to find my way back to the ‘wood. You’d be surprised there’s so much to be done Count all the bee’s in the hive Chase all the clouds from the sky Back to the days of Christopher Robin and Pooh. Winnie the Pooh doesn’t know what to do. Got a honey jar stuck on his nose. He came to me asking help and advice And from there no one knows where he goes So I sent to him to ask of the owl if he’s there How to loosen a jar from the nose of a bear. So help me if you can, I’ve got to get Back to the days Christopher Robin Pooh corner by one. He got so tired of black and white That he wore pink socks to the party that night!

Way down south where bananas grow, An ant stepped on an elephant’s toe.

The elephant cried with tears in his eyes, “Pick on somebody your own size!”

One foot slipped and down he fell, Instead of going to heaven, he went to...oops!

Gilligan’s Island Just sit right back and you’ll hear a tale, A tale of a fateful trip, That started from this tropic port, Aboard this tiny ship. The mate was a mighty sailin’ man, The skipper brave and true, Five passengers set sail that day, For a three-hour tour...a three hour tour. The weather started getting rough, The tiny ship was tossed. If not for the courage of the fearless crew, The Minnow would be lost... The Minnow would be lost. And then one day he was shootin’ at some food, And up through the ground came a bubblin’ crude. Oil, that is! Black gold, Texas tea! Well, the first thing you know, old Jed’s a millionaire. The kin folk said, “Jed, move away from there.” Said, “California is the place you ought to be,” So they loaded up the truck and they moved to Beverly. Hills, that is! Swimming pools, movie stars!

The Brady Bunch Here’s the story, of a lovely lady. Who was bringing up three very lovely girls. All of them had hair of gold, like their mother’s, The youngest one in curls. Here’s the story, of a man named Brady. Who was busy with three boys of this own. They were four men, living all together, Yet they were all alone. Till the one day when the lady met this fellow, And they knew that it was much more than a hunch, That this group must somehow form a family, That’s the way they all became the Brady bunch. The Brady bunch, the Brady bunch, That’s the way they became the Brady bunch!

Down by the Banks Down by the banks of the Hanky Panky, Where the bullfrog jumps from bank to banky And the eeps, opps, ops, oops And the bullfrog jumps and lands on you.

Marvelous Toy When I was just a wee little lass, full of health and joy My father homeward came one night and gave to me a toy. A wonder to behold it was, many colors bright From the moment I laid eyes on it, It became my heart’s delight. Chorus: It went zip when it moved And pop when it stopped And burr when it stood still. I never knew just what it was And I guess I never will.

The first time that I picked it up, I had great surprise Cause right on the bottom were two big buttons That looked like two green eyes. I first pushed one, and then the other, And then I twisted its lid, And when I set it down again, This is what it did. (Chorus)

It first marched right, and then marched left, And then marched under a chair. And when I looked where it had gone, It wasn’t even there. I started to cry but my daddy laughed Cause he knew that I would find. When I turned around my marvelous toy Would be chugging from behind. (Chorus)

The years have gone by too quickly it seems And I’ve got my own little boy And just yesterday I gave to him My marvelous little toy. His eyes nearly popped right out of his head As he gave a squeal of glee Neither one of us knows just what it is But he loves it, just like me! It still goes... (Chorus)

Our Cabaña Song 1. ‘Neath the grand Sierra Madre, on a plain in Mexico, Lies our beautiful Cabaña where Girl Scouts and Guides go. Oh, come then to see the mountains, the cactus and sunny skies; Hear the cricket in the evening, See the white moon arise. 2. When you see the warm red roofs, You think of hearts that glow with cheer, And the walls of sturdy stonework Stand for friendship so dear. Each day there is filled with laughter, Each evening is filled with song, And our stay in Our Cabaña Gives us memories life-long. 3. When we go to Our Cabaña, We will find ourselves at home; There's a greeting smile so friendly, And a handshake so warm. So come now to Our Cabaña World friendship to increase And carry to your homeland International peace. *OC, PS, NC

I Climbed a Mountain I climbed a mountain, saw the other side And can sleep now, because I’m satisfied. I saw a rich man, who showed that he could care And saw a poor man, who had enough to share. Chorus: And there’s peace in the valley And there’s hope in the land And there’s joy in the children And there’s love, beautiful love In the heart of man. I saw a schoolhouse where every child could go I saw a table that welcomed everyone I saw a city that had no slums to hide And saw a prison that had no one inside. (Chorus) I saw a lion lay down beside a lamb. I saw a white dove asleep upon the sand. I saw Caesar give up his mighty throne. And I saw Johnny when he came marching home. (Chorus)

Edelweiss Edelweiss, edelweiss, every morning you greet me. Small and white, clean and bright, you look happy to meet me. Blossom of snow may you bloom and grow, bloom and grow forever. Edelweiss, edelweiss, bless my homeland forever.

Oleana Refrain: Ole Oleana, Ole Oleana, Ole Ole Ole Ole Ole Oleana. Oh, to be in Oleana, that's where I long to be; Than to be in Norway and drag these chains of slavery. In Oleana land is free, the wheat and corn just plant themselves; Then grow a good five feet a day, while you're in bed--just rest yourself. Little roasted piggies rush about the city streets Inquiring so politely if, a slice of ham you'd like to eat. Ole Oleana, that's where I want to go; The poorest wretch in Norway becomes a duke in a year or so. Circle of Friends Friends, friends, the more that we know the bigger and better our circle will grow. Don't stop with just one, more friends are more fun. Keep building our circle of friends. Each happy scout will go find a friend to bring to our circle that has no end. Each friend that we bring will widen our ring and add to our circle of friends. Friends, Friends, we all are inside. Our circle is big and our circle is wide. Now isn't it fun when ev-er-y-one is inside our circle of friends.

I Know a Place I know a place where no one ever goes. There's peace and quiet, beauty and repose. It's hidden in a valley beside a mountain stream, And lying there beside the stream I find that I can dream Only of things of beauty to the eye; Snow-peaked mountains a-tow'ring to the sky. Now I know that God made this place for me.

The Buddies Song Buddies are forever, Buddies are for fun,

Buddies are for hiking in the rain And in the sun.

Buddies make you feel good When you’re feeling down. Buddies, buddies, buddies,

They’re good to have around! (spoken)

Everybody turn around and say, “Hello, how are you?”

Now turn around and say, “Let’s be friends!”

Repeat

Big Blue Marble We will love the ...earth... wherever we roam,

For this big blue marble is our home, And we know that everyone in it, And we know that everything in it,

Will always be a part of who we are.

...Deer... ...Birds...

...Mountains... ...Eagles...

...Flowers... ...Meadows...

On the Loose Chorus:

On the loose to climb a mountain On the loose where I am free, On the loose to live my life The way I think my life should be; For I only have a moment, And a whole world yet to see, I’ll be looking for tomorrow...on the loose.

Have you ever seen a sunset Turn the sky completely red? Have you slept beneath the moon and stars, With a pine bough for your head? Do you sit and talk with friends Though a word is never said? Then you’re just like me And you’ve been on the loose. (Chorus)

There’s a trail that I’ll be hiking Just to see where it may go. Many places yet to visit, Many people yet to know So in following my dreams I will live and I will grow On the trail that’s waiting Out there...on the loose. (Chorus)

So in search of love and laughter I’ll be traveling ‘cross this land. Never sure of where I’m going For I haven’t any plan But in time when you are ready Come and join me, Take my hand And together we’ll find love out...on the loose. (Chorus)

In this world that I am traveling I shall think of you each day Remembering your smile For it seems like yesterday That we sat beneath the stars And we dreamed about today We’ve come together

And we are on the loose.

Osa’s Song Finally found a place where I can be myself. Finally found a friend that can call my own. Finally found a dream and I will see it through And I’m never going to let it slip away. Wandering through the world for a place called home, Passing through the towns and the city lights, Finally found the hills where the trees grow tall And I’m never going to let it slip away. Searching through the crowd for a friendly face, Catching only frowns and troubled brows, Finally found a smile and a soothing word, And I’m never going to let it slip away. Though I felt the glory through another’s light, I was hoping for the power from their might. Finally saw myself and my own true strength And I’m never going to let it slip away.

Dear Friend Dear friend of mine, met not long ago

Been so good to me, why, I do not know.

And now you’ve gone away, forever and a day And this I have to say, I’ll miss you always.

Dear friend of mine, tell me what to see

Where you say live, you wander just like me.

Dear friend of mine, I love you in every way. What you mean to me, I can never say.

And now you’ve gone away, forever and a day

And this I have to say, I’ll miss you always. Please stay.

Moon on the Meadow Chorus: Moon on the meadow, Bugs in our ears, Smoke in our eyes, Wet wood and tears, On up the meadow, water somewhere We were the only ones there. Wild horse and slushy, dry lakes, and peaks Finding the love that everyone seeks Hiking to rainbows, sunsets and stars Just finding out who we are. (Chorus) We shall return here, one lucky day Our hearts will guide us, they’ve learned the way People in cities don’t understand Falling in love with the land. Moon on the meadow, bugs in our ears, Smoke in our eyes, wet wood and tears On up the meadow, water somewhere With you, my friend, I am there.

Magic Penny Chorus:

Love is something if you give it away. Give it away. Give it away.

Love is something if you give it away. You’ll end up having more!

It’s just like a magic penny.

Hold it tight, and you won’t have any. Lend it, spend it,

And you’ll have so many, They’ll roll right over the floor!

(Chorus)

So let’s go dancing ‘til the break of day, If there’s a piper, he will play.

Love is something if you give it away. You’ll end up having more!

(Chorus)

Stand By Me When the night has come and the land is dark, And the moon is the only light I see... No, I won’t be afraid; no, I won’t be afraid, Just as long as you stand, stand by me. Chorus: So, darling, darling, stand by me, Oh, stand by me, Oh, stand, stand by me, stand by me. If the sky that we look upon should crumble and fall, Or the mountain should crumble to the sea... I won’t cry, I won’t cry; No, I won’t shed a tear, Just as long as you stand, stand by me.

(Chorus)

Thank God for Kids If it weren’t for kids, have you ever thought...

There wouldn’t be a Santa Claus! Just look what the stork has brought,

Thank God for kids.

Chorus: Thank God for kids, there’s magic for awhile.

A special kind of sunshine in a smile. Did you ever stop to think and wonder why

The nearest thing to heaven is a child?

And we don’t live in a quiet house, Without Big Bird or Mickey Mouse

As we sit on the couch, Thank God for kids.

(Chorus)

Daddy, how does this thing fly? A hundred other whereas and whys

I don’t know but I try, Thank God for kids.

(Chorus)

So when you get down on your knees tonight And thank the Lord for his guiding light.

Pray they turn out right, Thank God for kids.

Oo, ooh, Thank God for kids.

Daisy On My Toe There's a daisy on my toe, It is not real, it does not grow, It's just a picture of a flower, 'Cause it looks neat while taking a shower. It's on the second toe of my left foot, A stem and flower, it has no root, 'Cause that wouldn't look good. There's a daisy on my toe, My right foot loves my left foot so (smack.)

Bats Eat Bugs Bats eat bugs, they don’t eat people. Bats eat bugs, they don’t fly in your hair. Bats eat bugs, they eat insects for dinner. That’s why they’re flyin’ up there.

Coyotes eat rabbits, they don’t eat people Coyotes eat rabbits, cause you’re too big to bite Coyotes eat rabbits, they eat rabbits for dinner That’s why they’re out in the night

Snakes eat mice, they don’t eat people Snakes eat mice, that’s why they’re on the ground Snakes eat mice, they eat mice for dinner And they don’t want you hangin’ around

Bears eat berries, they don’t eat people Bears eat berries, they don’t eat you or me Bears eat berries, but they might eat your dinner So you better hang it high in a tree!

Nothin’ out there, wants to eat you

Nothin’ out there wants to make you its meal Nothin’ out there wants to eat you

‘Cause they know how sick they would feel

Magic When I was young, I thought the stars were made for wishing on. And every hole in a tree, would hide a leprechaun. Old houses all had secret rooms, if one could find the key. I do believe in magic, I believe. Chorus: Magic is the sun that makes a rainbow out of rain. Magic keeps the dream alive to try and try again. Magic is the love that stays when good friends have to leave. I do believe in magic, I believe. When I grew up, the grown-ups said one day I’d wake to find, That magic was a childish game I’d have to leave behind. Like clothes that would no longer fit, or toys that I’d ignore, I’d not believe in magic anymore.

(Chorus) A child, a friend, a smile, a song, The courage to stand tall, And loves the greatest magic of them all.

(Chorus) Reach Out and Touch Somebody's Hand Chorus: Reach out and touch somebody's hand, Make this world a better place if you can. Oh, reach out and touch somebody's hand, Make this world a better place if you can. First verse: Oh, we're all Girl Scouts together all over this land So let us join hands together whenever we can. Second verse: We can have peace and harmony all over the land, If we just reach out and touch somebody's hand.

Dinosaur Song One day while the weather was cloudy and gray I wished that someone would come over and play I heard a knock, knock and I opened the door And there stood the loveliest big dinosaur. Chorus: Me and my dinosaur, I never had such a friend before Big as a house, twenty times and a half And fifty times taller than any giraffe Legs long as Sequoia trees, teeth big as piano keys. No two people are buddies more Than me and my dinosaur. We hopscotched to Africa quick as a breeze While leap-frogging over the coconut trees And when we got thirsty, mile after mile, In one great big gulp, we just drank up the Nile. Chorus Then on to Hawaii, far over the sea And we'd learn to surf, my good buddy and me In grass skirts and flowers, we'll hula all day Oh I am so glad he came over to play Chorus Our next stop is Holland, the tulips we'll see We'll stroll on a dike by the great Zyder Zee We'll munch a friend eel, and some good Edam cheese We'll see lots of windmills, a sight sure to please. Chorus Let's go to Alaska to see Eskimos We'll need heavy boots and some very warm clothes With penguins and seals, polar bears and reindeer The beautiful great northern lights will be there. Chorus

Rainbow Made of Children (chorus) We’re a rainbow, made of children, we’re an army singin’ songs. There’s no weapons that can stop us, rainbow love is much too strong. I was raised in Mississippi, sayin’ “yes, sir” to a man But I found that, it got me nowhere, so I ain’t gonna do it again. Well, my grandma, she was a princess and my grandpa, he was a chief But thanks to those of our good neighbors, both my folks live on relief. I was taught that black was evil. I was taught that white was good But in a rainbow, made of children, every color’s understood. It’s not the winning that’s important, but it’s how you play the game But that’s not how some folks see it, and that’s not how peace is made. (repeat first verse)

Shooting Star Please won’t you catch a shooting star for me And take it with you on your way. Although we just met, you’re the one I won’t forget. Hope some kind of wind blows you back my way. Chorus: And I was thinking maybe somewhere down the road, After all our stories have been told, I’ll sit and think of you, the good friend I once knew, Shot through my life like a shooting star. Sometimes I know that part of you will show, Deep in my heart and in my smile. There’ll always be a part of you deep inside my heart And I’ll know just when to let it show. (Chorus) You are so dear, you’re my bright and shining star. You brighten up each and every day. You are so near but soon you’ll be so far, So why not hold my hand today. (Chorus)

With People I Like Chorus: It’s so nice to be here with, people I like And it’s so nice to hear them all say, That it’s so nice to be here with, people I like And with them to share a new day. (chorus) It’s a new day we’re living in, Filled with bounty and praise. The cold and the darkness are driven away While the morning light blesses our days. (chorus) The people I like are the, people I find Who live with a smile of care. Their looks and their lives are, different than mine But together this new day we share. (chorus) Time spent apart seems to, fade away Smiling faces warm us inside. We can talk without saying a word, Our love is deep it does not die.

Dreams Chorus: May all your dreams bloom like daisies in the sun May you always have stars in your eyes May you not stop running Not until your race is won May you always have blue skies A dream is something you can make to keep within your heart To build on when you’re sad or when your world’s been torn apart. A dream is something all your own that no one else can steal You can make your dream come real. (Chorus) You can share a smile with a stranger that you meet You can share your money with a beggar on the street But you can only share a dream when love can set it free. So, why don’t you share yours with me? (Chorus)

Dona On a wagon bound for market

There’s a calf with a mournful eye. High above him there’s a swallow, Winging swiftly through the sky.

How the winds are laughing.

They laugh with all their might. Laugh and laugh the whole day through And the day and half the summer night.

Dona dona, dona dona dona donnna Dona dona dona donnna

Dona dona dona do.

Stop complaining, said the farmer Who told you a calf to be?

Why don’t you have wings to fly with Like the swallow so proud and free?

Calves are easily bound and slaughtered

Never knowing the reasons why. But whomever values freedom

Like the swallow has learnt to fly.

When you’re young and when you’re restless Like the swallow you learn to fly

But when you’re old and when you’re weary Like a calf you must learn to die.

Third Fence Post I’ve been sitting here thinking about leaving When I wanted to stay the most, So I went outside and left a piece of my heart Buried by the third fence post. Chorus: So when tomorrow morning comes, I’ll be smiling Though I might be a little down. Although my body’s leaving, I’ll still be around. I’ve been sitting here thinking about smiling, And the warmth and the love you give. So I went inside your little house And felt glad this is how you live. (Chorus) I’ve been sitting here thinking about flowers And sunshine and the happiness of being alive, Which means I’m thinking of you and the waters And the mountains and plenty of wide open skies. (Chorus) Though my body’s leaving, I’ll still be around

This Land This land is your land, this land is my land,

from California to the New York Islands, from the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream Waters,

this land was made for you and me.

As I went walking that ribbon of highway, I saw above me that endless skyway,

I saw below me that golden valley, saying, this land was made for you and me.

This land is your land, this land is my land,

from California to the New York Islands, from the Redwood Forest to the Gulf Stream Waters,

this land was made for you and me. She said, oo-ah, ah-cha-cha! She said, Oo-ah, ah-cha-cha! Well, if you're hereafter And I'm hereafter Then who'll be here Long after, we're gone But if you're hereafter And I'm hereafter Then, oh-ah, ah-cha-cha!

Mr. Moon (snap fingers to beat)

Mr. Moon, moon, bright and shiny moon, Won’t you please shine down on me? Oh, Mr. Moon, moon, bright and shiny moon, Won’t you come out from behind that tree? Right over there there’s an owl in a tree. (dee, dee, dee, dee) Here he comes swoopin’ down on me. Oh, Mr. Moon, moon, bright and shiny moon, Won’t you please shine down on, talk about your shine on, please shine down on me. (clap - yeah!)

The Composting Song (Sung to Home on the Range) Oh, give trash a home Where the earthworms roam, Where the fungus and sow bugs thrive! Where wearing old pants, You watch critters like ants Make composting from thing once alive. Chorus: Home, home for our trash It’s a biodegradable stash, Where things decompose Become soil for a rose, Call it compost...it’s organic mash! Chicken C, that's the way it begins H, that's the second letter in I, I am the third letter C, is the fourth letter in that bird, Oh! K, we're filling in E, we're near the end Oh, C-H-I-C-K-E-N, That's the way you spell "chicken."

Be Kind to Your Web-footed Friends Be kind to your web-footed friends For a duck may be somebody's mother. Be kind to your friends in the swamp Where the weather's cold and damp. You may think that this is the end, Well, it is! But there is another ending This is it!

When you throw it away Into landfills today, Your trash will be here for awhile, But if you make a heap Of your veggies and leaves, You will soon have a compost pile. (Chorus) So compost your food, It’ll do earth some good To replenish her soil once again. What you ate last week, Will be gone when you peak In your compost heap now and then

Picking Flowers (chorus) Picking flowers in the rain and laughing with the sun, Trying to teach them how to live by themselves And still get things done. Gonna be a counselor at a summer camp, Gonna find out what it’s all about. Little eyes are gonna look up at you And little hands will reach out. Days are long and the nights are short, pay is so small And you really don’t know if what you say, Sinks in at all. Build a fire, dig a trench, sharpen an axe with a wet stone And maybe next time when you’re not there They can do on their own. And sometimes when things don’t work out right And we think that we are flops, They look at us and they smile at us, And ask us not to stop. And when it’s all over and it’s time to leave, We’ll sit and we’ll think, What parts of us do they taken along And what parts of them do they leave? So that’s why I’m here at this summer camp, And I hope you feel the same way. There’s a lot to get but there’s more to give And I hope you’re here to stay.

White Sand and Gray Sand White sand and gray sand; Who'll buy my white sand? Who'll buy my gray sand?

Black Oak Chorus: Black Oak, Black Oak Ooh, baby, let the xylem flow; Ya, ya, ya, ya, ya, ya. (Repeat) The gray squirrel told me just the other day; He found an acorn and he ran away. He dug a hole and he stuck it in the sand; And now tall trees grow across the land. (Chorus) A Black Oak’s roots grow way down low,

Where water and nutrients begin to flow. They raise their branches and they wave to the sun. And now photo-synthesis has begun. (Chorus)

The Wind In The Willows The wind in the willows Sighing like a solitary soul alone.

Charmin' Betsy Chorus: All around the mountain charmin' Betsy

All around the mountain Laura Lee If I ever see her again May the good Lord remember me!

City girls they wear those tight silk skirts Country girls they wear the same Mountain girls they wear big overalls But they get there just the same (Repeat chorus after each verse) (2) high heeled shoes..big hiking boots (3) fancy perfume..go au natural (4) flush toilets..find a friendly bush (5) fancy cars..just hop on a horse

Circle Game Yesterday a child went out to wander Caught a dragon fly inside a jar. Fearful when the sky was full of thunder And tearful at the falling of a star. Chorus: And the seasons they go ‘round and ‘round And the painted ponies go up and down. We’re captive on a carousel of time. We can’t return, we can only look Behind from where we came. And go ‘round, and ‘round, and ‘round in the circle game. Now the boy’s gone ten times ‘round the seasons Skated over ten clear frozen streams. Words like when you’re older must appease him And the promise of “someday” make his dreams. (Chorus) Sixteen springs and sixteen summers gone now Cartwheels turn to car wheels through the town And they tell him, take your time, it won’t be long now Till you drag your feet to slow those circles down. Years spin by and now the boy is twenty Dreams have lost some grandeur coming true But there’ll be new dreams, even better dreams and plenty Before that last revolving year is through.

Sing Together Sing, sing together, Merrily merrily sing Sing, sing together, Merrily merrily sing, Sing, sing, sing, sing.

Garden Song Inch by inch, row by row, gonna make this garden grow. All it takes is a rake and a hoe, and a piece of fertile ground. Inch by inch, row by row, Someone bless these seeds I sow Someone warm them from below ‘Til the rains come tumbling down. Pullin’ weeds and picking stones, man is made from dreams and bones. Feel the need to grow my own, cause the time is close at hand. Pray for rain, sun and rain, find my way in nature’s chain To my body and my brain, to the music of the land. Plant your rows straight and wide; nourish it with prayer and song. Mother earth will make you strong if you give her love and care. Old crow watching from the leaves, from his perch in yonder trees. In my garden I am as free as the feathered thief up there.

My Rose She Died My Rose she died

She died for her love Her lover he died for sorrow.

They buried them both In the churchyard

In graves both deep and narrow. And up from hers'n They grew a rose

And up from his'n a briar. They clumbed and clumbed

Up the church tower, The red rose and the briar.

Chairs To Mend Chairs to mend, old chairs to mend, Mackerel, fresh mackerel, Any old rags, any old rags?

Boogie Woogie Washa-woman Down in the jungles where nobody goes, There's a boogie woogie washa-woman, washin' her clothes. With a rub-a-dub here and a rub-a-dub there, A boogie woogie washa-woman, washin' her clothes. A diddley I, oh, a boogie, a woogie Diddley I, oh, a boogie, a woogie, Diddley I, oh, a boogie, a woogie, A boogie woogie washa-woman, washin' her clothes, yah!

Have Fun Have fun, our motto is.

Have fun, or you will miss A life of happiness. While you're young,

Remember, have fun! Remember, have fun!

Have friends, believe in them. Have friends, receive from them

Good times, until the end. While you're young,

Remember, have friends! Remember, have friends!

Have faith, in God above. Have faith, in His great love.

You'll find the peace of doves, While you're young.

Remember, have faith! Remember, have faith!

Have love, for all that's good. Have love, it's understood.

You'll live the life you should, While you're young.

Remember, have love! Remember, have love!

Running Bear Chorus: Oh, Running Bear, loves Little White Dove With a love as big as the sky. Oh, Running Bear, loves Little White Dove With a love that never dies. On one side of the river Stood Running Bear, Indian brave. On the other side of the river, Stood a lovely Indian maid. Little White Dove was her name And she was a sight to see, But their tribes fought together So their love could never be. (chorus) Running Bear jumped into the water, Little White Dove did the same. They swam towards each other, Through the swirling waters they came. First their eyes met, then their lips touched, Then the swirling waters pulled them down. Now they'll always be together, In their happy hunting ground. (chorus)

Oh Gee, How Happy I Feel Oh gee, how happy I feel. I've got the vision of an automobile. I don't have worry where I get my next meal, I'm eating chicken and I don't have to steal. Everything is going my way Every dog's gotta' have his day. Well, I've got mine and I'm ready to say, Everything, everything, Everything's going my way!

Dem Bones Lord, he thought he'd make a man 'Dem bones gonna rise again. So he took a little water and he took a little sand 'Dem bones gonna rise again. Chorus: I knows it, knows it, knows it. Indeed I knows it, brother, I knows it, whee! 'Dem bones gonna rise again. Lord, thought he'd make a woman, too But he didn't exactly know what to do. So he took a rib from Adm's side And he made Miss Ever for to be his bride. Put 'em in a garden rich and fair, Said they's be quite happy there. And of this fruit you shall not eat, For if you do, my wrath you'll meet. Eve was tempted, she'd never had 'em, So she took one for her and she took one for Adam. Snake, he came 'round that tree, Said, "Wow, this fruit just can't be beat." Mean ol' Lord come snoopin' 'round, Spied those peelin' all over the ground. "Adam, Eve, where are thou?" "ere, my Lord, we're comin' now." "Oh, my Lord, please let us stay, Eve and I, we'll mend our ways." The Lord said, "No" and kicked them out, "Adam, you've been a bad Scout." The moral of this story be, Don't leave your peelings for the Lord to see.

Green Trees Green trees 'round you, blue skies above; Friends all around you in a world filled with love. Taps sounding softly, hearts beating true, As campers sing goodnight to you. Day is done, gone the sun, From the lake, from the hill, from the sky. All is well, safely rest, God is nigh. (extra verse) Come on, say goodnight, As the evening shadows fade into the night. With each living, glowing ember There are friendships to remember As we sing one last goodnight, Goodnight, goodnight.

Flowers Are Red A little boy on his first day of school got his crayons and he started to draw. He drew colors all over the page because colors are what he saw. The teacher said, “What’cha doing, young man?”

“I’m painting flowers,” he said. “It’s not time for art, young man, and, anyway, flowers are green and red. There’s a time for everything, young man, and a way it should be done. You’ve got to show concern for everyone else, for you’re not the only one. And she said, “Flowers are red and green leaves are green. There is no need to see flowers any other way than they have ever been seen.”

But the little boy said, “There are so many colors in a rainbow. There are so many colors in the morning sun. So many colors in a flower, and I see every one.”

The teacher said, “You’re sassy! There are ways things should be. And you’ll paint the flowers the way they are, so repeat after me.” And she said, “Flowers are red and green leaves are green. There is no need to see flowers any other way than they have ever been seen.”

But the little boy said, “There are so many colors in a rainbow. There are so many colors in the morning sun. so many colors in a flower, and I see every one.”

The teacher put him in the corner. She said, “It’s for your own good and you won’t come out ‘til you get it right and respond like you should.” Well, finally, he got lonely. Frightened thoughts filled his head. And that boy went to his teacher and this is what he said.

“Flowers are red and green leaves are green. There is no need to see flowers any other way than they have ever been seen.”

Well, time went by like it always does and he moved to another town. And that little boy went to another school, and this is what he found. The teacher there was smiling. She said, “Painting should be fun! And there are so many colors in a flower, so let’s use every one!” But the little boy painted flowers in neat rows of green and red. And when the teacher asked him why, this is what he said.

“Flowers are red and green leaves are green. There is no need to see flowers any other way than they have ever been seen.”

Camp Davidson Song Camping is a time to explore new things and places Make a friend or two, share a smile with happy faces. Watch the stars above, see them shine in empty spaces. Here at Camp Davidson. Hike a trail and see everything on hill and under. Listen to the sounds, learn about all nature's wonders. See the clouds above, with the lightning and the thunder Here at Camp Davidson. Gather 'round a ring, sing a song for "Campfire's Burning" Wish upon a star, dream about all life and learning. Wave goodbye and go, thinking of next year returning. Here to Camp Davidson. Here to Camp Davidson. Here to Camp Davidson. Whispering Oaks is built on the site of the old Camp Davidson. The words "Whispering Oaks" can be substituted for Camp Davidson if you wish. Ezekial Ezekial saw two wheels a rollin', Way in the middle of the air. A wheel within a wheel a rollin', Way in the middle of the air. The first wheel ran by faith, The other ran by the grace of God. A wheel within a wheel a rollin', Way in the middle of the air.
