Ist Eduroam kaputt? Has Eduroam stopped working?

There will be an important change for every Eduroam user on the 16th of July 2018. The root certificate will be replaced. Therefore, the current certificate "Deutsche Telekom Root CA 2" will become invalid. This me-ans that you will no longer be able to connect to eduroam before making some changes.

A new certificate is needed

In order to continue using eduroam, it is necessary that you make some modifications on your device to get it to use the new certificate "T-Te-leSec GlobalRoot Class 2". It is not possible to make these changes beforehand because the parallel use of two certificates is not possible.

The wifi @BayernWLAN is not affected and can be used as a temporary solution.

Please turn the page for instructions on how to perform these changes on Apple - devices. If you need assistance the Laptopsprechstunde is happy to help you. The IT-Service-Center (ITS) will also provide a service stand during the adjustment phase. You can find both in the ITS (NW II) building.

Für alle Nutzer von Eduroam gibt es ab dem 16. Juli 2018 eine wichtige Änderung. Das Root-Zertifikat wird getauscht. Damit verliert das derzeit verwendete "Deutsche Telekom Root CA2"-Zertifikat seine Gültigkeit. Das bedeutet für Sie, dass sie sich ersteinmal nicht wie gewohnt mit dem Eduroam Netzwerk verbinden können.

Neues Zertifikat wird benötigt

Um Eduroam weiterhin verwenden zu können, ist es zwingend notwen-dig, sich das neue "T-TeleSec GlobalRoot Class 2"-Zertifikat zu installie-ren. Es ist nicht möglich, sich das Zertifikat vorab zu installieren - da ein Parallelbetrieb aus technischen Gründen nicht zulässig ist.

@BayernWLAN ist von der Umstellung nicht betroffen und kann als Übergangslösung verwendet werden.

Nachfolgend finden Sie die Installationsanleitungen für Apple iOS (iPho-ne/iPad) und Apple macOS (MacBook, iMac etc.). Bei Problemen hilft Ihnen die Laptopsprechstunde. Wir sind während der Umstellungsphase mit einem zusätzlichen Servicestand im IT-Servicezentrum (NW II) ver-treten.

1. Öffnen Sie die Einstellungen des Geräts und wählen Sie "Allge-mein", dann "Profil(e)". Öffnen Sie nun das Profil "eduroam@uni-bay-reuth" und tippen Sie auf "Profil entfernen". Ggf. müssen Sie nun die Code-Sperre des Geräts bestätigen. Tippen Sie erneut auf "Entfernen".

2. Sie benötigen für die Einrichtung eine bestehende Internetverbindung (z.B. über ein Mobilfunknetzwerk). Falls Ihr Gerät keine Internetverbindung hat, können Sie alternativ das Drahtlosnetzwerk @BayernWLAN nutzen. Ein Passwort ist nicht erforderlich. Nach dem Verbinden muss ein Brow-ser geöffnet, eine beliebige http-Webseite (nicht https! z.B. http://www.uni-bayreuth.de) aufgerufen und dort Verbinden angewählt werden.

3. Im nächsten Schritt benötigen Sie Ihre Benutzerkennung und Pass-wort. Die Benutzerkennung für eduroam muss zwingend in folgender Form eingegeben werden: Benutzerkennung@uni-bayreuth.de (Bei-spiel: bt123456@uni-bayreuth.de)

4. Laden Sie sich im Safari das Konfigurationsprofil herunter (Fig. 1): → https://laps.uni-bayreuth.de/eduios/

und tippen auf Installieren. Ggf. muss das Passwort / die Code-Sperre des Geräts eingegeben werden.

5. Geben Sie nun Ihren Benutzernamen in der korrekten Form und das dazugehörige Passwort ein.

6. Falls Sie das @BayernWLAN-Drahtlosnetzwerk verwendet haben, entfernen Sie dieses von den bekannten Netzwerken, damit sich Ihr Ge-rät zukünftig nicht unbeabsichtigt wieder damit verbindet.

3. For the next step you will need your username and password. You have to enter your eduroam-username in the following format: username@uni-bayreuth.de (example: bt123456@uni-bayreuth.de)

4. Download the profile of configuration using the Safari browser (Fig. 1):→ https://laps.uni-bayreuth.de/eduios/

Afterwards select install. Perhaps you have to put in your pass code.

5. Enter your username and also your password.

6. If you have used the @BayernWLAN wireless network, remove it from your known networks list to prevent your device from accidentally reconnecting to it.

1. Open the Settings of your device and choose „General“, then “Profi-le(s)”. Now open the profile “eduroam@uni-bayreuth” and tap on “De-lete Profile”. You might have to enter your passcode to continue. Next, tap on “Delete” to confirm.

Anleitung Schritt 1 Apple macOS1. Open the System Preferences of your device and click on “Profile(s)”. Now select the profile “eduroam@uni-bayreuth” (1.) and click on the minus-button (2.).

Bestätigen Sie nun, dass Sie das Profil wirklich entfernen wollen. Ggf. muss das Passwort Ihres macOS-Geräts eingegeben werden (nicht das Passwort für Ihre Benutzerkennung!).

Now confirm that you really want to remove this profile. You might have to enter your device-password (not the one from your Uni Bayreuth account!) to continue.
