Operating Instructions
These items are all you need to set up and operate the TV in its basic
configuration.
Most components (VCRs, DVD players, etc.) come with the necessary
cables to connect them. If you want to set up a complex system, you may
need to buy extra cables, connectors, etc. Be sure to have these on hand
before you start to connect your system.

The speakers on the KDE61XBR950 can be detached.
Be sure to remove the speakers before installing the TV on awall, etc. Detaching the speakers from the TV should beperformed by qualified Sony personnel,
PLace a protective sheet or cloth beneath the TV on a flat floor. Turn the
FV over so that you can see its rear panel.
Remove the four screws marked with arrows on the inside of the rear of
the speaker, then pull out the speaker straight to detach.

Using the CONTROLS Feature
CONTROL S allows you to control your s3 stem and other Sony equipment
with one remote control. In addition to allowing you to control mtflt_ple
devices with one remote control, the CONTROL S feature allows you to
always point your remote control at your TV. instead of having to point it at
the other equipment, which might be hidden or out of direct line of sight.

After ?ou finish connecting your TV, you need to run Auto Setup. which
automatically set up available analog and digital channels. The Auto
Program screen appears when you rum on your TV for the first time after
hooking it up. If you do not want to set up the channels at this time, you can
do it later by selecting the Auto Program option in the Channel Menu see
page 103).
The Auto Setup feature does not apply for installations that usea cable box for all channel selection.

This TV is equipped to show digital programming, ifa digital signal is
present. The digital program guide and menus let you review programinformation, select digital channels and subchannels, set up your TV's
digital programming, and enable digital closed captioning.
Analog channels are not available in this guide.

Using the GuideMenu
The Guide menu allows you to select digital channels and subcharmels from
a dropdown list. This list also provides information about the curremprogram being shown on each digital channel.
Subchannels are additional channels of programmingbroadcast simultaneously. For example, channel 4 mightinclude three subchannels (4.1, 4.2, 4.3) that are showingprograms at the same time.
Using the ProgramOptions Menu
The Program Opnons menu allows you to customize the settings of the
program on the currently tuned channel.
Each program has a mare video stream, and may have alternate video
streams. This option allows you to switch among these alternate video
streams.
Each program has a main audio stream Ithe audio that you hear when
the channel is first tuned/. This option allows you to switch among
these altenaate audio streams l e.g., for different languages),
Using the CaptionVision Menu
The Caption Vision menu allows you to turn on/off digital closed captioning,
and to modify how digital closed captioning is shown on your TV.
Depending on the program, digital closed captioning will be available in anumber of difibrent languages, aspect ratios, and reading levels.

Inserting a MemoryStick
Locate the Memor_ Stick slot and insert the Memory Stick into the
Memory Stick slot as illustrated below. When inserted properly, it

Removing a MemoryStick

Memory Stick. do notattempt to just pull it fromits slot. Follow steps 1-3(right).
Check that the Memory Stick indicator is off: _When the light is on. this
indicates that the TV is reading data from the Memory Stick.
Removing the Memory Stick while a file is being accessed(when the Memory Stick indicator on the TV's front panel is lit)may damage the Memory Stick or its contents.
Push the Memory Stick gentl._ into the slot. and then release it. The
Memory Stick media is ejected.

Pull the Memory Stick completely out of the slot.
To protect small children from injury from Memory Stick Media,
remove all Memory Stick media from the TV's Memory Stick slotand store it in a safe location when it is not in use.

Turn on the TV and insert a Memory Stick that contains the photo or movie

About DCF FileNames
Most Sony brand digital still and video cameras automatically record still
photo and movie files using DCF compliant directory and file names
lfyou selected the option, as described on
page 84, you might want to have your digital canlcra's instruction manual
handy in order to check how files and directories are organized for your
specific model of digital camera.
DCF stands for "Design Rtdes for Camera File Systems," which arc
specifications established by the Japan Electronics and Information
Technology Industries Association (JEITA: former JEIDA }.
Memory StickPrecautions
When using Memory Stick media, follow these precantlons:
fo avoid permanent dan_age to still image data. do not turn offthe TV or
remove Memory Stick media from the insertion slot while data is being
