SOME WORD’S FROM PASTOR JEREMIAH “JB” MARSHALL

Gospel Outreach Community Church: The Difficult Finish

Northern Virginia experienced a tornado warning at the end of Feb 2016. As I was driving home, I noticed the clouds turning dark gray and the rain drizzling down on windshield. I knew the development of a tornado was possible because I was warned by the news forecast and an emergency alert on my phone. The alert was specific. "Go find cover!" I would like to encourage you to look at the changes in your environment. God has al-ready given you the warning. It is up to us to see the signs. Just like the tornado weather, there wasn't an immediate down pour of rain and heavy blowing of winds. Most of the day was fairly decent. If I only looked at the temperature, I would think things were going well because it was hotter than what we've experienced the past few months. If I only looked at the rain, I would have been

deceived because it was only drizzling. If I only looked at the alert, I would have thought it was wrong because things weren't currently as bad as the alert made it seem. However, when I put them altogether, I was able to see what was coming before it came. The envi-ronment changes were in relationship to the warning received. Keep on listening to God and watching the changes. God never lies which means His words are always true. Use that early warning to watch the changes in your environment. Follow God's lead to keep you safe and cov-ered. He will cover you. He will protect you. He will keep you. God Bless, Pastor JB

“Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding” Proverbs 3:5

BRAIN TEASER There are more than 25 words

I am thick but hollow

Both on and above the ground

I am not only square but am also round

I keep people in and I keep people out

I could not be moved but once fell at a shout

I am in the Bible — What am I?

(Hint: Joshua 6)

I had any locks that don’t need a key

I was far to many for you to count me

I was never to be shortened, for a vow had been said

I was a symbol of strength that fl wed from the head

But in a moment of weakness, my secret was out

I lay all in pieces when she gave the shout

I am in the bible — What am I?

(Hint: Judges 16)

Meekness is not Weakness — By Billie-Jean Holmes

Abbreviated material from: Patheos: Hosting the Conversation on Faith. Christian Crier, by Jack Wellman, April 23, 2014.

At Gospel Outreach Community Church our singing group [One Voice] sung – “Gentle Jesus, Meek and Mild” one Sunday; the words refl ct-ed on my spirit because of some of my interac-ti ns with family and friends. For those who I interacted with mannerism seemed to imply their not “standing up for themselves” as weak-ness. God created what we call the Bea tudes; one being blessed are the Meek is the third character Jesus menti ns in his Bea tude teach-ing at the Sermon on the Mount…For they shall inherit the Earth.” (Ma hew 5:5) Jesus teaching was saying we shouldn’t see meekness as weak-ness. The fruit of the spirit that Jesus voiced has been loss today’s face-pace, self-centered and overly aggressive society. Most of society today do not admire others for being “meek;” associa ng it with weakness; re-vamping what Jesus said towards where God’s people are today. How can this be, though? The world now looks at the words, “Blessed are the strong, who can hold their own” trying to base our beliefs that compe ve, antagonistic and self-assured are the only “true” way to receive recogni on, admira on and reward. On the surface, this bea tude seems to have li le meaning, and what there is seems to con-tradict the plain facts of everyday life. No sensi-ble person, looking about the world or studying history, could sincerely accept it at face value. Unfortunately, many Chris ans have ignored it in practice, perhaps regre ng that no doubt it should be true, but that it certainly is not so in the real world. Rather than taking God at His Word, they remain conformed to the world's standard of practice missing the bene ts meek-ness will produce in their lives. Remember, Je-sus Himself says this: Blessed—happy, fa-vored—are the meek.

So we must decide. Jesus either meant what he said, or He did not; He either knew what He was talking about, or He did not. Jesus is either a relia-ble guide or He is not. We must either take Jesus seriously or not, and if we do not, we should drop His teaching altogether. If we decide to straddle the fence and strive for some characteristics but not others, we become hypocrites. Of course, the true Chris an will accept it, learn from it and grow in it. What Jesus says is a very practica doctrine. It may at fir t seem impractical foolish and even wild, but He was no sen mental dreamer who dealt in empty pla tudes. He was an unfli ching realist who has given us a great key to prosperity and dominion un-der God's purpose. One commentator, Emmet Fox, author of an en re book on the Sermon on the Mount, states that this bea tude "is among the half dozen most important verses in the Bible." "The meek shall inherit the earth," and when they do, they will proceed to govern it. Meekness is a virtue God has determined those who will have do-minion in His Family must possess. Without it, will we even be there? It is a quality of character very no ceable in the greatest human being ever to grace this earth—and one that all of us sorely need today.

A food server for Jollibee Agoo in Agoo, La Union, Philippines has gained the admira on of people across the world a er he was photo-graphed feeding an old man who did not have arms.

According to Marie Zelda Idelle Biteng who shared the story on Face-book, she saw the old man eati g at a table by reaching his head down the table so his mouth could take the food off the plate. Though it must be very di cult to eat that way, the elderly man did not com-plain.

Notic ng that this diner was having a di cult me eati g, service crew member Jemcy Garcia Carino immediately went to the table without being asked to do so. He cut up the old man's food and began feeding him pa ently.

February Feel Good Story An Old Man with no Arms having trouble eating, so this Happened Sunny. Skyz News dated February 22, 2016 (www.sunnyskyz.com)

This poem is based off of Genesis 7:10-12 10 And it came to pass after seven days, that the wa-ters of the flood were upon the earth. 11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the sec-ond month, the seventeenth day of the month, the same day were all the fountains of the great deep bro-ken up, and the windows of heaven were opened. 12 And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights.

Being Obedient to God will Sail you through life's storms

When God speaks to you, where will you be, what will you look for and what will you see When your flood time is now and at hand, will you build and ark, or be stranded on land When the rain starts to fall, your life troubles rise, will you be God ready, or have tears in your eyes You may have to wait a long time to know, but God's word is factual, in God you must grow Your daily struggles lie, to trick you to flee, God's word is an Ark, across hardships sea Be aware of your Christ circle, for everyone can't go, when the flood rains start falling in that day you'll know

As in the days of Noah, this fact still holds true, he had a plan for him, he has a plan for you This was a time of challenge and struggle but Noah didn't ask why On February 17th, Noah simply did Comply And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth. But whenever God removes, he brings about new Birth In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, the seventeenth day All things in God's time, for his pleasure, in his way And the rain was upon the earth forty days and forty nights But God created the waters, In your obedience he delights

Amen
