CBS 5 Poll: Majority Oppose Calif. Spanking Ban

“Do parents have the right to spank their children? It is a controversial issue, and while a Bay Area lawmaker wants it addressed in Sacramento -- a majority of those surveyed for a new CBS 5 poll expressed opposition to a spanking ban.

“...A poll of 500 Bay Area adults conducted for CBS 5 by Survey USA on Thursday found 57% would oppose such a bill, while only 23% would support it. The poll, with a margin of error of plus or minus 4.4%, showed 11% undecided.”(© MMVII, CBS Broadcasting Inc. All Rights Reserved.)

Spanking Children

So, spanking children teaches them to hit? What about giving them vaccinations? Does this teach them to go out give shots to other people? And, if we make them stay in bed when they are sick, will this make them put other people in bed? If we lock up criminals in jail, does this teach them to lock up other people in cells? When was the last time you got a speeding ticket from someone who was writing tickets because an officer of the law had written him one? Why don't we all just admit that the "non-spanking movement" is an off-shoot of the anti-God and anti-religion movement? While every person advocating no spanking may not reject God and the Bible, it logically follows that, if you believe there

will be no punishment after death for wrongs done in this life, you will likely see no reason to punish anyone for doing wrong (Prov. 13:24; 22:15; 23:13-14). In fact, without God, right and wrong cease to consist of absolutes and everything becomes relative. This is where a lot of people are today.
