Somali Police and AMISOM Police build community policing partnerships in

Mogadishu

MOGADISHU Community policing sensitization campaigns continue in earnest

across all districts in Mogadishu. The Somali Police Force (SPF) and the Police

component of the African Union Mission in Somalia (AMS!M)" on Sunday held a

meeting #ith residents of $odan district" #here ideas on ho# to %eep the district safe

#ere shared.

The sensitisation meetings are part of an ongoing community policing initiati&e

'et#een Somali Police Force and AMS!M. Under the initiati&e" AMS!M Police"

the SPF and the istrict administration interact and discuss security concerns #ith the

local communities. n these meetings" homegro#n solutions to crime and related

concerns are discussed.

The AMS!M Police Pu'lic nformation !fficer" d#in Mugera said the initiati&e is

aimed at 'uilding pu'lic trust in la# enforcement agencies.

*All this is done #ith the aim of 'ridging the gap 'et#een the police and the

community. n fighting crime" the con&entional means to policing is not enough to

eliminate the criminal elements #ithin our communities. As such" #e em'ar%ed on the
