Coal Mine DisasterYou are visiting a coal mine and happen to be with a stranger waiting in the first aid clinic. Suddenly there is violent shaking, deafening noise and the lights dim. Soon the phone rings and you are told of the earthquake and the blocked mine. You have air for an hour. If both asleep: air for two hours; one asleep, air for maybe three hours. Rescue is 3-4 hours away. You are told there are sleeping pills in a cabinet and, a gun in a drawer. The stranger takes a pill, says “It’s up to fate,” and immediately falls asleep. What do you do?

Problem-SolvingMost groups solve problems by debating the relative merits of various solutions. Often the decision is based upon authority, persuasion,
or wearing down the opposition.
