Overview
HCL offers readymade protocol stacks and test frameworks for customers. HCL also offers engineering services for porting these stacks to various OS and hardware platforms. This case study illustrates porting of HCL’s SIP stack to customer’s hardware platform, running on UCLinux, to provide the functionality of VoIP ATA and VoIp Router.
System Overview and problem Description
The customer wanted to develop reference design (to demonstrate the capability of their MIPS-based VoIp processor) of an Analog Telephony Adapter (ATA) and modify that into a VoIp Router with WLAN functionality. The design targeted OEM and ODM clients. The overall objective of this project was to develop software for ATA (Analog Telephony Adapter) and VoIP Router. VoIp Router provided the customer with benefits such as broadband Internet sharing, Firewall security, VPN connectivity, IP telephony, audio/video streaming, Wireless LAN etc.
Solution from HCL
HCL designed and developed hardware and software for the ATA and VoIP Router. The solution included right component selection, design of PCB with
multiple layers, porting of SIP and RTP stacks on to the processor board, development of applications and integration of all modules.
