(In the delayed coker process, forexample, high temperatures and pressures,combined with high viscosity and theplugging characteristics of the fluid,eliminate all other measurementtechnologies.) Unlike competitive units, all 600TTransmitters share the same electronicmodules. The “hockey puck” can bechanged in the field in just five minutes to help you protect your initial investment,without altering the performance of theinstrument. No recalibration is necessary.Plus, GeminiConfig™ enables you to retainyour application-specific configuration. The ABB Valve Automation productoffering includes I/Ps, digital positioners, pneumatic actuators, digital based electrical modulating and ON/OFF actuators.

In vibration applications, ABB I/Ps featureour patented low-mass flapper nozzlesystem that’s inherently insensitive toshock and vibration. Plus, we offer theworld’s largest selection of intrinsicallysafe, non-incendive and explosion proofmodels, not to mention the industry’s only stainless steel I/P.

The family of ABB positioners includes a full range of conventional and digitaldevices featuring the TZID-C - the digitalsolution at a conventional price. The TZID-C standard offering, with mechanicalposition indicator and LCD display, can be specified for both linear and rotaryapplications in single and double actingmodes, in either fail-safe or fail-in-placedesigns. Integral position feedback optionscan be easily upgraded in the field. TheTZID-C can be completely configured byuse of local keys and can be set-up andcalibrated utilizing the Autostroke functionin less than three minutes. All units areHART compatible and can also bemonitored by either a hand-held terminal or PC.

All ABB positioners feature field-provenSENSYCON I/P technology. TZID modelsincorporate a non-contact position sensorthat make them the ideal choice for severeservice, high vibration applications. Inaddition, all are HART compatible. Thehigh-gain version of our AV positionerdelivers 28 SCFM air throughput for largevolume applications, eliminating the need for air volume boosters required on competitive units. Our conventionalTZIM positioner offers a cost-effectivesolution for basic applications.

Within our TZID series, external localoperator keys and “bullet proof” glass forviewing the LCD indicator are standard onthe explosion proof unit. The TZID seriesalso includes the industry’s only stainlesssteel digital positioner. Solutions for linear,rotary, single or double acting units andfail-safe or fail-in-place are available withintegral position feedback options,diagnostics and enhanced digital controland communications. The new TZID-Fprovides fieldbus solutions now existingfor PROFIBUS and soon to be releasedFOUNDATION Fieldbus.

Set-up algorithms determine both the sizeof the valve assembly and the best controlparameters for operations. Configurableparameters include a 22-point transfercharacteristic in both the x- and y-axis.

ABB’s CONTRAC Electric ModulatingActuators are simply the most technicallyadvanced devices of their kind, featuringdigital control, diagnostics, data logging,and digital communications. For high-torque applications, an extended rangefrom 75 ft/lb to nearly 12,000 ft/lb faroutdistances competitive specs that oftenfail to exceed 5,600 ft/lb. CONTRACactuators have proven to be a vital system component in meeting EPA NOXreduction program mandates in damperdrive applications.

The ABB UP pneumatic drive units havebeen the standard for pneumatic andelectro-pneumatic damper drives. UPdrives are now available with digitalcontrol and communication capabilitiesutilizing the TZID positioners.
