Detecting potential building system clashes and identifying risks is one of the most prominent features of BIM, made more efficient because each and every detail of a construction project is seen as coexisting within a single ecosystem in a building information model. McAvoy design all buildings to meet Eurocode guidelines and BS EN 1990/2005 for whole buildings. Using the latest design and engineering techniques, our modules are designed to be capable of bearing all anticipated vertical and horizontal loads and have a 60 year structural warranty.

McAVOY STRUCTURAL DESIGN

Tolerances and accuracy are generally of a higher standard than in traditional build. To control overall building dimension variations, individual modules can be designed to a small negative tolerance which, should it be necessary, can be made up on site.

McAvoy manufacture both standard and bespoke modular space solutions designed to the latest construction standards in terms of performance and comfort. Our bespoke options deliver many of the aesthetic benefits associated with a permanent build but also retain the flexibility typically offered by a temporary building.

There are many reasons why more space may be required on a temporary basis, for example, at a time of relocation or the unexpected need to accommodate additional staff and equipment.The option to access almost instant space with the minimum of planning or disruption can be very beneficial to the sector, especially at times of capital spending constraints.

McAvoy understands that mood enhancing colour can directly influence an environment producing eithera soothing or stimulating atmosphere. Royal Devon &Exeter HospitalExeter, Devon

McAvoy completed a successful off-site build at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital which offered a 10 week reduction in the project delivery versus traditional build thanks to its modern methods of construction.

There are huge benefits to using off-site build in the healthcare environment. Based on a delivery of a 48-bed ward, typically using a traditional method of build will require the ground works and foundations to be complete prior to the structures and finishes. However, with modular off-site construction, this can be done in tandem with the structures and finishes, saving up to ten weeks duration.

Meanwhile, off-site production allows internal trades to commence within a controlled environment rather than waiting for the building to be weather tight, therefore allowing a greater level of quality. McAvoy also ensures a rigorous selection of specialist materials for every build.

In all a traditional build project of this scale, the on-site duration after design and procure, could be up to 38 weeks. Off-site construction offers a vastly reduced period of time on-site, potentially saving up to ten weeks.
