Comprehensive gas studies
We constantly keep updated on theindustry requirements. Since the1980s we have carried outnumerous comprehensive feasibilityand policy studies for oil and gasprojects. This includes analyses oflocal markets, actors, technology,regulations etc.
Environmentally sound solutions
In response to the call forenvironmentally sound solutions, we
have helped many of our clients tomaintain regulatory compliance forplants and equipment installeddecades ago, when production andlegislative requirements were not asstrict as today. An example isa conceptual study for a closedflare system for Statoil that collectsall hydrocarbon relief sources into anew common flare system.
Integrated risk and safety services
Risk and safety issues are anintegrated part of our consultancyservices. We perform risk analyses,safety screenings and calculationson both new and existingfacilities to ensure that all safetyregulations are maintained andfollow the standard safety demandsset by local authorities or ourclients' even stricter safety require-ments.
Improving production on refineries
To accommodate the rising energydemands, it is important that thefacilities for refining thehydrocarbons is completely up-to-date, efficient and environmentallysafe. Our experience with refineryprojects counts e.g. zero-flaresystems for several installa-tions, replacement of flare systems,hydrogenation projects and design
of fuel reduction plants includingintegration of a grass-roots sectionwith a refinery's visbreaker. We haveworked on several modificationprojects on refineries to ensureimproved and more efficientproduction.
Natural gas storage
With indigenous gas production indecline and thus gas markets beingdependent on long-haul pipelinethroughputs, gas storage plays acrucial role in market players’management of seasonal and dailyimbalances and price volatility.Further, governments are looking togas storage facilities as a way ofproviding much needed sources ofstrategic reserves. Underground storage fields aredeveloped in three basic types:depleted gas/oil reservoirs, aquiferreservoirs and salt caverns. Rambollhas been involved in large-scale gasstorage projects in all three types ofgas storages covering services suchas feasibility studies, projectconcepts, environmental impactstudies, basic and detailedengineering, risk analysis, authoritymanagement, and project &construction management.
Liquefied natural gas (LNG)
LNG is one of the fastest growingmeans of transporting natural gas.LNG allows suppliers of natural gasto meet distant markets in a cost-effective manner. Our LNGexperience includes liquefactionand re-gasification of natural gasand biogas.
Onshore pipeline systems
Design of onshore pipelinessystems, including compressorstations and Meter & Regulatorstations, is part of our corecompetences. Pipeline systemdesign requires careful planning toselect the optimum pipeline routewith consideration to: overall length,right-of-way access, existing use ofthe land, population intensity, plan-ning for existing infrastructure suchas roads, highways, railroads orwaterways. We also provide assistance inobtaining authority approvalsincluding preparation ofenvironmental impactassessment and geotechnicalassessment of the soil conditions. In the design of compressorstations our services include studieson selection of the optimum
compressor type as well as driverselection. Further, Ramboll has up-to-date experience in design of MRstations including SCADA systems,IP communication, flow mea-surement for gas consumptionanalysis, automated data acquisitionand storage.
Safeguarding systems
Since the early 1980s we havedesigned complete instrument andprocess control systems solutionsfor the oil and gas industry. Weoffer a full range of services fordesign and implementation ofinstrumentation, SCADA/DSC,safeguard/ESD/F&G systems inclu-ding SIL assessment, and systemset-up for measuring and regulatorstations.
Onshore production
We also work on onshore wellprojects, including civil engineeringand onshore pipelines, for instanceon a project in Abu Dhabi. Ourexperience with onshore productionalso covers oil treatment facilities.
