Krypton RCS IP Messaging SolutionRich Communications Services (RCS) is an initiative of mobile operator members of the GSM Association to deploy IP based communications services in their next generation network to the popular communication applications from “Over The Top” (OTT) communications providers.

Lithium SMS Network SolutionOvercome Obstacles Of Legacy SMSC Infrastructures Existing Short Message Service Centers (SMSCs) are no longer meeting operator needs. SMSCs have not kept up with the technology curve in terms of the cost of the equipment, performance and operating efficiency. They lack message-handling flexibility and do not support advanced features such as First Delivery Attempt (FDA), real-time pre-paid charging, SPAM control and real-time service monitoring; which would help operators significantly improve the efficiency and performance of their networks.

Mercury Multimedia SolutionComplete MMSC That Quickly Generates RevenueNewNet’s Mercury Multimedia platform is a MMSC that covers all operators’ needs from network integration components to quick revenue generating peripheral modules. Complementing the core MMSC functionality, the Mercury suite provides additional modules for an end-to-end MMS solution; Transcoding Engine, Subscriber Database, WAP Gateway, and Composer Campaign Manager. Quick go-to-market is guaranteed with peripheral modules such as ViralTrack and SMS2MMS allowing operators to immediately generating revenue.

Mercury Multimedia CoreMultimedia Messaging Services Center (MMSC)Core component and the processing engine of Mercury is a mandatory module for system functionality. This module hosts the licensing mechanisms, OSS functionality, and the application control logic of the platform. Alarms, logs, and statistics are all handled by the Mercury Core. Mercury MMSC can be used for A2P, P2A, and P2P messaging. Mercury MMSC routes MM messages based on policies and routing rules. Messages are stored in queues, each queue dedicated to a certain destination/final recipient with its own retry scheme and scheduling capabilities.

MMSC handles the entire lifecycle of each MMS message on the platform as it parses inbound messages, checks recipient profile and capabilities, dips into charging for prepaid, determines delivery queue, stores message, chooses delivery method, generates MM1 notification, responds to retrieval request, and creates delivery reports while generating CDRs for each step of the transaction. Optional modules of the Mercury MMSC include MM7 Proxy and the Push Proxy Gateway.

Additional ModulesTranscoderTranscoding is a module accessible directly by the Mercury MMSC or third party MMSCs over a standard interface to do off-line and real-time transcoding of multimedia content types to optimize the recipient experience. The Transcoder module is capable of transcoding most standard multimedia content types that can be created and viewed by modern, multimedia capable mobile phones. Regularly updated content type databases and device UAProf databases ensure that the transcoding capabilities are ready to service the latest devices. The Transcoder module is capable of resizing, re-encoding, reformatting, changing the aspect ratio, and video to animation conversion over a large variety of content formats. Using the Transcoder in conjunction with the Mercury MMSC ensures that the users get to experience the content as it is intended.

SubProfile DatabaseSubProfile Database holds subscriber specific information like legacy flag, personal preferences, forwarding instructions, post/prepaid info and opt-in opt-out settings (subject to custom integration). Depending on the actual deployment architecture, SubProfile Database gets updated by several modules and provides data to several modules on the network. MMSC dips into the SubProfile Database for subscriber specific special delivery instructions. This database is optimized for high performance while being accessed and written to by several modules concurrently. Open APIs allow for integration with external databases. Operators that use the SubProfile Database ensure that permission, privacy, and preferences of subscribers are honored, resulting in increased subscriber satisfaction.



WAP GatewayWAP Gateway sits between the operator’s data network behind GGSN, SGSN, and the MMSC module or the world wide web to act as a proxy in translating web content to a format accessible by handsets. WAP gateway provides WAP connectivity for both genuine WAP traffic and for MMS services. WAP GW supports WAP releases 1.1, 1.2 and 2.0. WAP GW translates the connectivity protocols by converting each request to a normal HTTP request towards the origin server, compresses the WML text, compiles plain text WMLS to byte code format, and provides full WAP PUSH capabilities. WAP GW can be used as the sole gateway in the network or used in tandem with an existing WAP GW where the Mercury WAP GW re-routes certain traffic to the legacy WAP GW. Optional additions to the WAP GW can enable J2ME and BREW support.

Composer & Campaign ManagerComposer & Campaign Manager is the front end user interface for content providers, brands, advertisers and the operator to compose campaigns, schedule delivery and monitor campaign status. Text, images, animations, video and audio can be used to create media rich campaigns. Several levels of hierarchy ensure that the administrator is always in control of campaign life cycles and streamlined approval processes to secure the time critical delivery of content. Composer & Campaign Manager interfaces with multiple modules within Mercury and provides detailed input for the DataTrack reporting tool. By using Composer & Campaign Manager, operators and content providers can easily create push and pull campaigns in rich media, vivid video, and high quality sound.

Peripheral ModulesViralTrackViralTrack is a module that monitors all P2P MMS traffic in the network and tracks the propagation of image and video content as it is forwarded from peer to peer. When creating a campaign on Composer & Campaign Manager, campaigns can be tagged for ViralTrack monitoring which triggers the module. Each forward of a tracked content is registered and feeds analytical information to the DataTrack reporting tool. Reports can be generated per campaign. ViralTrack allows operators to create campaigns that promote the viral spread of a message and accurately monitor the total outreach, in turn increasing the total gains from a campaign.

SMS2MMSSMS2MMS works with the peer-to-peer SMSC or direct connection from SMPP applications to receive a SMS message and convert this message to a MMS, while inserting multimedia content specific to each campaign. When a message is received, the SMS2MMS module identifies what campaign the message is associated with, inserts multimedia content, and passes the message onto the MMSC for delivery. Intricate opt-in mechanisms ensure that subscribers receive content they are most interested in. SMS2MMS enables operators to allow sponsored content, insert ads into zero rated application to peer messages or spread direct marketing campaigns in and out of network.
