By joining the Fair Wear Foundation, SOLS is also committed to make improvements in line with current social standards (bringing concrete improvements in labour standards in collaboration with plant managers), based on an action plan approved by the Fair Wear Foundation. Every year, SOLS commits itself to provide a status report containing the improvements made to the Fair Wear Foundation.

The Fair Wear Foundation (FWF) is an independent, non-profit organisation that works with companies and factories to improve labour conditions for textile and garment workers. The Fair Wear Foundations Code of Labour Practices is based on the conventions of the International Labour Organisation and the United Nations. The 70 member companies represent nearly 100 brands and are based in seven European countries. The FWF is active in 15 production countries in Asia, Europe and Africa. HUMANITARIAN ACTIONSSOLS has been involved for more than 15 years in helping the neediest populations by offering its support to many important NGOs (Non-Governmental Organisations) in the production countries. Through its actions, SOLS joins forces with those who contribute to improving the living conditions of the local population.

SUSTAINABLEAPPAREL COALITION

In 2015, SOLS is proud to have become a member of the Sustainable Apparel

Coalition (SAC), joining over 150 brands, manufacturers, organizations and leaders in the garment and footwear industry. All the members of this coalition share a common vision of sustainable development and create together the environmental performance assessment tools in production sites. Thus SOLS endeavours to monitor the consumption of energy and water, and the waste management so as to reduce their environmental impact.

SOLS also encourages and supports its partners when they undertake humanitarian missions. For example, in 2015, a mission of ophthalmic surgeons allowed to carry out 2,800 medical examinations and 300 operations, improving the daily life of the

neediest people and even restoring their sight.

SREEPUR VILLAGE: Much more than an orphanage, it is a reception and training centre supported by SOLS since 2009. Unique in Bangladesh and fully autonomous, it helps destitute families as well as orphans, providing education to over 500 children and training to 150 mothers allowing them to regain a social and professional life.

NARI UDDUG KENDRA (NUK) NGO: Continuously improving the health of local populations. Also in Bangladesh, SOLS is involved in a remarkable operation alongside the Nari Uddug Kendra (NUK) NGO to finance the Agarasindhur community hospital. This

project aims at improving the health of women and children living in the rural community, and at supplying the districts population with a low-cost, good-quality medical service. SOLS pays the wages of its medical staff as well as operational costs. Thanks to these actions, every year more and more people can benefit from medical care.

NATIONAL DEBATE FESTIVAL BANGLADESH: Concerned with those who will become the future leaders of Bangladesh, SOLS is proud to sponsor this important annual students festival. For 10 years, it has been bringing together hundreds of young leaders around debates on social, political,

economic and cultural issues, in order to promote their ideas and encourage them to act collectively for the development of their country.
