SOLIDWORKS Electrical is a powerful, easy-to-use suite of collaborative, schematic design tools that help drive the rapid development of embedded electrical systems for equipment and other products. SOLIDWORKS Electrical 2016 has the following enhancements:

Define Wiring Cabling Order with Nodal indicator

● Projects Tab > Configurations > Project > Graphics tab > check “Automatically show nodal indicators”

● Change in Nodal

Formula Manager Enhancements ● Long names in the interface, for example, COMPONENT_MARK_ROOT instead of COM_ROOT.

● A tab displays a tree of available functions and operators.

Formula Manager Enhancements (Cont) ● A Test button displays next to each formula allows you to test the formula and see the

result.

Integration with CircuitWorks Lite You can use CircuitWorks Lite to automatically create a SOLIDWORKS component from an EDA (eCAD) file describing a printed circuit board (PCB). You can then insert that component into the SOLIDWORKS software.

● The PCB can be imported as a Printed circuit board symbol from an IDF 2/3 file (*.emn) file. Wires are connected to it in the same way you would connect wires to a black box symbol.

Limiting User Rights on Project Data Users with a role of project manager or higher can limit the right to edit project information to specific groups. To turn on Rights Management go to Tools tab > Interface configuration button > Rights management tab

● To set access restrictions, select the book and click Configure access rights.

● Users who are restricted from editing a book cannot edit properties of that book or any of its

files or folders, and cannot open its files. However, they can preview files from the book, edit wire cabling and manage origin-destination arrows from files in the book, and modify components.

Paste Special Wizard Improvements When you copy and paste an element, you can associate it with an existing mark, create a new mark for the entity, and rename the element.

● This enhancement applies to:

○ Books ○ Folders ○ Files ○ Locations ○ Functions ○ Components ○ Cables ○ Harnesses ○ Wire styles ○ Cable styles ○ Wires ○ Equipotential lines

Project Snapshot ● You can create snapshots of a project, and restore the snapshots later if necessary.

Snapshots are saved as .tewzip archive files in a Snapshots sub-folder on the SOLIDWORKS Electrical Server.

SOLIDWORKS Electrical prompts you to save a snapshot when you close a revision. You also have the option to include project dependencies in the snapshot, or to leave them out to make the archive file smaller.

Properties Side Panels ● New side panels display on

the right side of the interface to help you find information faster and take actions with fewer clicks. Depending on the type of entity, one or more tabs provide access to different properties.

Report Filters You can create multiple filters for a report. This enhancement lets you use the same report, with the appropriate filter, for different scenarios. You no longer need to make multiple copies of the report and maintain them separately.

A Filters tab in the report configuration editor lets you create and edit filters. You can create filters with multiple conditions about the value of fields, using logical operators (<, <=, >, >=, =, <>, LIKE) and Boolean AND/OR conditions, for example: WHERE ( ((Field1 > Value1) AND (Field2>Value2)) OR Field3=Value3). After you create a filter, you can add it to a report in the Report Manager.

Additional Enhancements ● A new interface helps manage title block attributes. Its features are similar to those used to

manage symbol attributes.

● A new tab in the PDM link configuration makes it easy to manage reports.

specified in project properties.

● In 3D module Routing, you can define the origin and destination of cable routes for cabinets by the cable location.
