Solider settlement

This is a soldier settlement block .The Australian Government repossessed aboriginal land for solider settlements scheme.. Aboriginals who had fought in world war 1 and 2 came back to Australia to racism and were also made to work but it horrible conditions. Solider settlement has two purposes; to get servicemen, and the economic requirement to open up and develop the land with agriculture.. The states had to provide the land whilst the commonwealth government took care of the loans.

Impacts to the environment

• the first world wars land settlement scheme failed to support the soldiers and there families. Settlers has to irrigate their trees by hand for years and years. Lots of settlers lived in huts or sheds and had lots of problems with rabbits wrecking their crops and diseases in the cattle and stock

Towns

• Soldiers who had the chance to get a block of land had the opportunity to start farming in rural activities like dairy, wool and cattle.

Swan hill was a solider settlement town

population in towns had grown by 1,000 but then at different stages had also fallen below 1,000

Perceptions

• Foundations of soldier settlement was based on perceptions of rural life.
