Solid Waste Program Summary
• Purpose:– Increase solid waste diversion, program’s economic
benefit, and minimize waste generation.
• Major Program Components:– Operate a landfill specifically for construction and
demolition debris.– Recycle and track waste diversion amounts, and
economic benefit from reduced tipping fees.

• All trash collected on post is taken to the Fairbanks North Star Borough for disposal.
• Dumpster collection and maintenance is conducted by Shaw Group.
• Waste Management (WM) collects garbage in housing areas.

• All waste generated in the field MUST be “bagged and dragged” back from the field and properly disposed of.– Coordinate with PWE for proper disposal and contact
them if you have any questions.
• Do NOT burn or bury any trash in the training areas!

• All hazardous wastes should go through the Hazardous Waste One Stop facility.– Does not accept household hazardous wastes.
• Contact housing forinformation on where to dispose of householdhazardous wastes.

• Current on-post landfill only accepts construction and demolition debris and asbestos.
• Pallets, tires, furniture, fans, etc. should be disposed of through DLA Disposition Services– NOT taken to the landfill. Schedule a property turn-in time by visiting:– https://www.dispositionservices.dla.mil/scheduling/ge

• There is currently a recycling program on post for Aluminum, Tin, Glass, Mixed Paper, and Plastic.
• Marked containers are located behind the AAFES furniture store.
• Other industrial recyclables such as used oil and batteries can be processed through DLA Disposition Services directly or given to ECC for handling.
