Catholic United Financial, St. John Council:Officers of St. John Catholic United Financial council have agreed that the June meeting will not be held. A decision has been made to go ahead and order the Catholic Calendar for 2021. Officers are asking members for ideas that we could use towards our Grant4Good Project this year. In the past, we have requested the $500 grant to help us with grounds and building clean up. The activity needs to be a service project to our local area/parish. Anyone wishing to submit a project idea, please call or email Renee Brod at [email protected] or (952) 449-1863. “I have said this to you, that in me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” John 16:33

~ Today we will learn a bit more about Ruth Weinandt, our (interim) Parish Business Administrator.

What was your role in ministry for our parish prior to Covid-19?Ruth: 100 percent different. Prior to COVID-19 my position was Parish Accountant and Pastoral Ministry. These 2 positions suited me well and I loved the balance between numbers and ministry. At the end of February, Peter Guzulaitis (Parish Business Administrator) took a position at another parish. I was asked to be the interim Parish Business Administrator, and I am no longer active in Pastoral Ministry.

How has that role changed over the last two plus months?Ruth: COVID-19 changed everything for me and everyone else. It felt like an ugly and sudden storm descended and brought with it many new and scary things to do: emergency finance council meetings, staff pay reductions and furloughs, PPP loan documents, webinars from HR attorneys, Archdiocesan updates, APBA meetings, questions on future budgeting ~ unemployment, livestreaming ~ online giving ~ proper sanitizing of the church, etc.. I was scrambling to put the pieces together and so was everyone around me.

We are weathering the storm with help from many places: You ~ our parishioners have graciously helped with contributions to the parish and financial support of the SWS Auction Fundraiser (a huge success).Continued on Page 4...

PARISH AND AREA NEWS

Continued from Page 3...With your help, we were able to forego the planned staff pay reductions and furloughs. Parish Staff ~ jumping into the storm with livestreaming/online giving/increased communication with parishioners/creative videos etc.Fr. Eugene ~ leading the parish in our beautiful liturgies/rosaries and also, helping with all the financial decisions/meetings (along with the Trustees, Finance Council, Endowment Board, Capital Campaign Committee, and SWS Principal Kim Doyle).

What blessings have you noticed that have come out of this time in our parish?Ruth: One big thing I have noticed is gratitude in our peo-ple towards our parish. During this time we have received many little notes saying “thanks for the livestreaming ~ I love the Rosary ~ you’re doing a good job ~ if you ever need ANY help let me know ~ the Masses are beautiful ~ and many people have expressed thanks to the outreach by some of our parish volunteers and thanks for opening the church to pray.

What do you miss about the way it used to be?Ruth: I miss the order ~ I thrived on knowing my job ~ knowing what needed to be done and doing it. Now it’s constantly in chaos ~ I am always working on something I didn’t expect to be working on and mostly don’t know much about (but I am learning a-lot) ~ I guess it’s the new normal right now and I can count on God’s help (and yours)!

Also ~ I have been missing you all and hope to see you very soon in Church!

Here is my prayer for you….Most merciful God, whose wisdom is beyond our under-standing, surround us with your love, that we may not be overwhelmed by our world right now, but have confi-dence in your goodness, and strength to meet the days to come. AMEN

**Our Livestreamed Masses & Rosary may beviewed on our website, npcatholic.org; on ourFacebook Page, New Prague Catholic; or onYouTube, search “New Prague Area Catholic

Community” at YouTube.com.

Saint Alphonsus Liguori(to pray anytime you are unable to physically participate in Communion)My Jesus,I believe that Youare present in the Most Holy Sacrament.I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.Since I cannot at this momentreceive You sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.I embrace You as if You were already thereand unite myself wholly to You.Never permit me to be separated from You.Amen.

Capital Campaign UpdateIn April, we paused our capital campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The Cam-paign Committee has continued to meet and discuss when we may begin again.

This effort is necessary to maintain and enhance our three sites. St. Wenceslaus is also seeking to eliminate the parking lot debt and pay for city assessments.

Thank you to those who have already stepped forward and made financial gifts and commitments! At this time, we are continuing to plan the best time to re-launch. If you are ready to make a commitment, please do so. Ini-tial funding for this effort is essential to pay expenses and begin specific projects and initiatives. You can make a gift by requesting a commitment card from the par-ish office. Please contact Lisa Leverson at 952-758-3225 or email: [email protected]. We will then mail you a commitment packet to fill out.

As the campaign process continues, please know we are fully aware that some may be financially overwhelmed right now and are focused on making ends meet. We also know there are others who are able and willing to give. Please prayerfully consider continuing your annual giv-ing and making a capital campaign commitment when asked to the best of your situation and ability. Updates will continue on our progress and plans for the future!

An Invitation from the Green Team ~ 2020We have many beautiful rain gardens, perennial gardens, annual gardens, and planters that beautify our buildings and accent the parking lots. Help is needed from stu-dents, adults, and families to keep our plantings healthy and looking good all summer. Please consider adopting a garden for the summer or select a week or more to help weed and water: 1. the gardens around the school 2. the Mary Garden or 3. the walkway gardens west of the PAC.Use this Sign-Up Genius link to volunteer. https://www.signupgenius.com/go/4090c45abae2ca7f49-green.
