greatly appreciated.

Your contributions will be gratefully accepted any time now. Use the bin at the en-

Please deposit any gift cards in the collection baskets after Mass,

7:00 – 8:00 p.m.

After an opening prayer we reviewed our discussions of the first meeting

on June 30, 2021. Fr. Frank reminded the members that the purpose of

the council is to listen to the needs of the parish, give advice to the pastor

and assist with long-range pastoral planning. The Council learned more

about the “essence” of parish life and how the Council can be more “pastoral” as it serves the parish. There

are seven (7) major pieces to parish life.

(1) Evangelization is the over-arching purpose of the parish community. Not only do we reach out to those

who do not share the Catholic Faith, but most of all we “re-evangelize” those in our community and invite

them to renew their faith and active life in the Church. Everything we do in the parish revolves around Evange-

lization.

(2) Worship is the heart of the parish. Sunday Mass, Eucharist and all the Sacraments are our life-blood. The

stronger our celebration of Sunday Mass, the stronger is our parish family.

(3) The Word of God directs all that we do and is our constant challenge and our consolation. This happens

when the Word is proclaimed at Mass, when the Word is shared with our young people, when adults gather to

learn more about the Word of God and when we pray privately with the Scriptures.

(4) Community is the goal of our Evangelization, Sunday Worship and the Word of God. We strive to ensure all

are welcome and find a parish where they feel at home.

(5) Service is our expression of our living faith: Love of God and Love of Neighbor. We work to find new ways

to serve the poor and the marginalized in our community.

(6) Stewardship, sharing our time, talent and treasure, is how we have the resources to Evangelize and be a

parish community. We depend on our ministries, volunteers and our financial resources.

(7) Finally, leadership holds the parish together and gives new life and direction. Fr. Frank listens to the advice

of the Pastoral Council as we plan for the future of our parish.

Thank you to all those who have supported our Hymnal Drive

through memorializing hymnals. At this time, all of our 550

hymnals and 40 choir hymnals have been sponsored.

However, we have a sizeable deficit in the cost of the project

(almost $2000). If you wish to support the Hymnal Drive through

a donation, this will be greatly appreciated and a help to our par-

ish as we struggle to meet our parish expenses.

August 15, 2021

Bishop Barres lifted the obligation to

attend Mass on Sundays and Holydays of

Obligation throughout the pandemic.

The obligation to attend Mass is reinstated as of Sun-

day, August 15th, the Solemnity of the Assumption of

the Blessed Virgin Mary.

Thanks to all those who volunteered to

prepare our new hymnals for us to use!

ST. MARK’S KIOSK MINISTRY

Today, August 15, is the celebration of the Feast of Mary’s Assumption into Heaven. If you haven’t already gotten your copy of the book, MEET YOUR MOTHER, by Mark Miravalle, now would be a perfect time. Don’t miss this treas-ure of a book. Meet your Mother, Mary, the gift Jesus graciously gave us from the Cross. Meet and lovingly behold your Mother. Remember also the book, MEET YOUR SPIRITUAL FATHER, by Mark Miravalle. Pope Francis has proclaimed this year (December 8, 2020 – December 8, 2021) the year of St. Joseph. It is the 150

th Anniversary of the declaration by

Pope Pius IX of St. Joseph as the Patron or Guardian of the Universal Catholic Church. Priceless treasures await you as this book reveals the benefits of having an intimate relationship with the virginal father of the Son of God.

The kiosk is a great place to find a gift for a loved one or friend.
