• Size: 49,528 km wide. (4 Earths)

• Number of moons: 13

• Temperature: -214°C SUPER cold!

• Orbit: 164.8 Earth years.

!Neptune is surrounded by blue

clouds and dark rings.

• Neptune is a ball of gas and

has a metal core. It’s the last of

the gas giants !.

• Size: 51,118 km wide. (4 Earths)

• Number of moons: 27

• Temperature: -216°C.

So Uranus is SUPER cold!

• Orbit: 84.01 Earth years

! The clouds that circle the planet

are greenish-blue.

!Uranus also has 11 thin rings.

Uranus is the seventh planet

from the Sun.

Uranus is a gas giant !.

It is a ball of gas with a

small rocky core in the

center.

Neptune is the eighth planet

from the Sun.

Neptune is

named after the

god of the sea.

8th Neptune

7th Uranus

PlutoPluto is a Dwarf Planet on the

outer edge of the solar system.

Pluto used t o be the smallest

and last planet in the solar

system. However it ’s now

called a Dwarf planet.

5th Jupiter

6th Saturn Saturn is the sixth planet

from the Sun.

Jupiter is the fifth planet

from the Sun.

• Size: 120,536 km wide.

Bigger than 9 Earths wide.

• Number of moons: 60

• Temperature:-178°C VERY cold!

• Orbit: 29.46 Earth years

! Saturn is gold, brown and white.

! Saturn’s famous for it’s beautiful rings

They’re gold, brown, white, red and yellow.

Jupiter is the first gas giant !. It’s made of gas and

liquid, and has a small rocky core.

• Size: 142,984 km wide.

11 Earths wide- the biggest

planet.

• Number of moons: 62

• Temperature: -148°C REALLY

cold.

• Orbit: 11.8 Earth years

! Jupiter is orange, red, yellow, brown, and white.

On the surface there is a great Red Spot.

• Saturn is a gas giant !.All the planets the Sun.. An orbit is like a circle. !orbit

!= 24 hrs = 1 day!= 1 month!= 1 year =365.25 days

How we measure time !

The Earth takes

1 year (365.25 days)

to orbit the Sun.

The Moon "

takes 29.5 days

to orbit the Earth.

Size: 1,391,000km wide.

The Sun is 109 Earth’s wide.

Temperature:

~15 000 000°C in the center,

~ 5 500 °C at the surface.

So, it’s REALLY REALLY hot!

x 109

The Sun# The Sun is a star at the

center of our Solar System.

The Sun is a star!

(And all the stars are suns!)

# The Sun is a big ball of hot gas,

which gives off light and heat.

• Size: 6794 km wide.

(About 1/2 the width of Earth.)

• Number of moons: 2

• Temperature: -87°C to -5°C.

So Mars is a pretty cold place.

• Orbit: 687 Earth days.

! The surface of Mars is covered

with red rocks, huge volcanoes

and lots of craters.

• Size: 12,756 Km wide.

• Number of moons: 1

• Temperature: -90°C to 58°C.

It can feel cold or hot !

• Orbit: Earth takes 365.25 days

(1 year) to orbit the Sun.

!From space, Earth looks like a

blue, green and white ball.

• Size: 4879 km wide.

(1/3 as wide as the Earth.)

• Number of moons: 0

• Temperature: - 173 °C (night)

+427 °C (day)

So REALLY cold or REALLY hot!

• Orbit: 88 Earth days

2nd Venus

Venus is called the

evening star, as it’s the

first star in the sky at night.

• Size: 12,104 km wide.

(slightly smaller than Earth.)

• Number of moons: 0

• Temperature: +480°C VERY hot!

• Orbit: 225 Earth days

!Venus is made of solid rock and

has a lot of mountains and

volcanoes. It’s grey surface is

covered by thick yellow clouds

of sulfuric acid.

Venus is the second

planet from the Sun.

" Earth is the third planet

from the Sun.3rd Earth

4th Mars Mars is the fourth planet

from the Sun.

1st Mercury Mercury is the closest

planet to the Sun.

" Earth is the planet WE live on. There’s land and

water on the surface and air in the atmosphere.

Because of it’s red rocks,

Mars is called

The Red Planet.

! Mercury is made of solid rock.

It’s grey surface is covered with craters.
