The Solar Cooking Station comes with four

commercial cookers that are ready to use in just a few

set-up minutes. They range in size and shape and

can cook everything from apple pie to zucchini bread.

The station also has plans to build seven more solar

cookers. Split your class into teams and let them each

build an oven. Conduct experiments on which kind

works best. Or just have an old-fashioned picnic witha solar cooked snack to celebrate the end of a unit.

Does your school have a no junk food rule? Smores

and slice & bake cookies are not the only thing to cook

in a solar oven. Several cookbooks are included so

you can find a recipe that suits your particular

circumstances. Carrots, and lasagna can both be

done in one afternoon. Of course, since you are

working with hot pans you will need hot pads and oven

mitts. These are also included along with a

    thermometer and utensils.

Remember the key to solar cooking is the sunso

plan this station into your renewable energy lesson and

make sure you get it during the sunny time of the year.

This station includes:A Resource Outlet containing an educators guide,

poster cards, bulletin board supplies, solar cook

books and informational books for all reading levels.
