Rules for ONLINE application for Ph.D. Entrance examination 2015

CONDITIONS OF ELIGIBILITY :

1) Minimum of 55 % marks (50% for SC/ST category) or with equivalent grade points at Post Graduate degree examination or its equivalent.

FEES : 2) For open category candidate : Rs.1000/-

For reserve category candidate : Rs.700/- For exempted candidate : Rs.200/- (SET / NET / UGC-CSIR / JRF / GATE / M. Phil.)

3) Entrance Examination fee is non refundable.

90% & 10% QUOTA : 4) a) 90% Seats are reserved for those who have completed their Graduation/Post

graduation from Solapur University, Solapur or teaching/non teaching staff working in the Solapur University/affiliated colleges/institutions or have completed UG / PG before 1st August, 2004 from Shivaji University or affiliated colleges/P.G. centre in Solapur University Jurisdiction. b) 10% seats shall be reserved for other University candidates.

NATURE & MEDIUM OF QUESTION PAPER : 5) The question paper for Ph.D. Entrance Examination shall be in English except for paper-2 of

Languages. 6) There will be 50 multiple choice objective questions for each paper and all questions

will carry equal mark. 7) There will be no Negative Marks for wrong Answers.

ENTRANCE EXAM SYLLABUS :

8) Syllabus for Entrance Test shall be of NET / SET / GATE / Postgraduate, Level of the concerned subject. In the Entrance Test, the candidate’s knowledge about the subject and General Aptitude shall be tested. Entrance Test, shall be of multiple choice type, & shall be of 100 Marks. Out of this, 50 marks shall be for concerned subject knowledge and 50 marks for General Aptitude. Merit list shall be prepared as under,

a. The merit list shall be prepared by combining the marks at SUS PET VI and marks in post graduate examination. Equal weightage shall be given to the marks at SUS PET and the marks at PG while preparing the merit list out of 100 marks.

b. The merit list for the candidates who are exempted from entrance test shall be prepared on the basis of total percentage of marks/grade/credits secured in the PG degree.

c. Admission shall be given on the basis of the combined merit list prepared on the basis of (a) and (b) above.

d. If the candidate secured same score in merit list, preference shall be given to the candidate having more marks (aggregate) in the order of Post Graduate, Graduate, HSC.

RESERVATION :

9) Candidates belonging to reserved categories, as notified by the Government of Maharashtra and also belonging to specific reserved category from Maharashtra State will alone be considered for reserved posts.

10) The Candidate applying for the post of reserved categories should submit caste certificate/caste validity certificate issued by competent authority. The admission of selected candidate on respective reserved category shall be made only after the receipt of caste validity certificate in light of the Govt. of Maharashtra G.R. No.CBC/10/2010/Pr.Kr.47/mavk-5, dated 26-3-2010.

The Candidate belonging to the category VJ (A), NT (B, C, D,) and OBC & SBC should submit Non-Creamy Layer Certificate issued on or after 1-4-2015 by competent authority.

11) 30% of reservation for women candidates, shall be applicable as per the Women and Child Welfare Department, Government of Maharashtra, Resolution No.82/2001/ MASEVA-2000/pra.kra.415/ka-2, dated 25-5-2001. The female candidates belonging to Open Category and seeking Women reservation are compulsorily required to submit Non-creamy layer certificate issued by competent authority on or after 1-4-2015 alongwith application form.

12) Reservation of the seats will be as per Maharashtra Government norms.

DOCUMENT LIST: (ATTESTED COPIES OF FOLLOWING DOCUMENTS shall be attached with the printed application form.)

13) 1. Graduate & Post Graduate Mark List. 2. SET / NET / GATE / UGC-CSIR / JRF / M.Phil. Mark List if any 2. Marriage Certificate/Gazette Copy (in case of change in name). 3. Validity Certificate, Caste Certificate issued by Competent Authority from

Maharashtra supporting their claim. 4. Medical Certificate given by Competent Authority in prescribed format in case of

Blind/Visually or Physically Handicapped Candidates. 5. Valid non-creamy layer Certificate.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS TO THE CANDIDATES :

15) a) The Examination Hall /Room shall be opened 30 minutes before the time specified for the commencement of the examination. No candidate who is late by more than 20 minutes after the commencement shall be admitted to the examination.

b) A Seat marked with a Seat number shall be allotted to each candidate. The

candidate shall be required to find out and occupy the seat allotted to him/her at least 20 minutes before the commencement of the examination.

c) No candidate shall be allowed to use a calculator in the examination Hall/room. Cellular Phones, Pagers, Mobiles etc. are not allowed in the examination Hall/room.

d) Any candidate found guilty of using unfair means or of misconduct of any nature in the examination hall/room shall be liable to be disqualified for future examinations.

e) Each candidate shall have to produce his/her admit card on demand by the Coordinator Invigilator/Examination Superintendent/Observer etc.

f) The candidates shall have to abide by any instructions that may be announced by the Superintendent/Invigilator in the examination hall/room.

16) No candidate will be allowed to leave the examination hall till the end of examination. 17) The candidate will be required to darken the appropriate circle below the question

number once only by using black ball point-pen. Each correct answer will be given one marks. There will be no negative marking for wrong answers. Scratching, overwriting, tick mark and multiple answers will be considered as wrong answers and no marks will be allotted to them.

18) The University reserves the right to fill or not to fill the seats as notified and also the right to cancel all the process of admission.

19) Once the guide has been allotted by the DRC no change will be entertained (As Research Guide has already submitted the specialization wise vacancies in their consent letter). Further, after allotment of guide by the DRC, if the concerned guide denies the candidate in such cases university will not be responsible.

20) In case of faculties/subject where the Ph.D. program is subject wise, specialization wise, the merit list of entrance test will be separate for each specialization. Also as per the requirements of subject, specialization and concerned guide the admission may be given for fulltime candidates only.

21) There will be no re-evaluation and verification of answer papers of entrance examination.

22) Candidates furnishing incorrect or false information shall stand disqualified at any stage.

23) The candidates are required to visit the University website for further instructions / notifications regarding date of result, merit list, counseling notice, any specific instructions, etc. from time to time. No personal or individual correspondence will be made in this regard.
