    The Provincial Soils Laboratory within

the vision of the Department of

    Agriculture, devises, plans, and execute

programs for its efficient and effective

operation. It render services thatprovide soil analysis, STK Refilling,

    Mushroom Cultivation and Compost

Fungus Activator, and is committed in

many ways by conducting trainings and

    seminars to farmers and technicians

    regarding the services offered.

The Provincial Soils Laboratory is the

    frontline in providing reliable qualitative

analysis on soil in the province. Soil

testing has been a valuable tool for

    agricultural production to determine the

    fertility of soil for fertilizer

    recommendation analysis by a skilled

    laboratory technician. Application of

    recommended fertilizer has produced

higher yields and generate more income

    to farmers.

Organic mushroom farming is also being

    introduced to interested parties.

    Mushrooms are very nutritious products

that can be generated from cellulosic

waste materials and are rich in fiber and

    proteins and has medicinal properties

that are used in medicine. Mush room

    farming may open new employment

opportunities and income to farmers.Trainings will be provided by a

    laboratory personnel which will equip

them with more skills and knowledge

and help them succeed in the promising

    venture.

The production of CFA (Compost Fungus

    Activator), Trichoderma Harzianum is

also provided by the laboratory, and has

    been promoting it to farming

communities. The use of trichodermaharzianum hastens the rapid

    decomposition of organic waste

materials from farms for only two weeks

    unlike the traditional composting

process which takes about 5 to 6

    months.

many farmers were able to adapt the

technology because it is cost efficient,

    improves soil fertility, provides

biological control to certain pests and

diseases and is not harmful to human

    being.

The provincial soils laboratory is making

its effort in upgrading the laboratory

equipment and facilities to improve its

services to farmers, students, LGUs and

    public and private clientele.
