ANTHONY BURGESS’SA CLOCKWORK ORANGE This critically acclaimed, electrifying, testosterone-fuelled adaptation exquisitely captures and transcends the spirit of Anthony Burgess’s original literary masterpiece, 50 years on from its publication. Energetic and sexy, this all-male version of A Clockwork Orange makes its London debut following its five-star, sell-out Edinburgh run.

A Clockwork Orange lures its audience into the glorious glass-edged nastiness of Manchester’s underworld. A playtime of orgiastic ultraviolence and sexuality, it is the story of little Alex and his Droogs in their battle against the tedium of adolescence.

An unapologetic jubilation of the human condition, it remains as terrifyingly relevant today with current political and social unrest as when the book was published in 1962.

‘The pure physicality and energy is astonishing. This is a show that everyone should experience.’  WhatsOnStage

50 YEARS OF A CLOCKWORK ORANGE

Despite being written in sunny seaside suburb Hove, in South East England in 1962, A Clockwork Orange by Anthony Burgess is a dark, dystopian novella portraying a society of extreme youth violence and society’s attempts to control and manipulate. This ground-breaking book was adapted into a cult film starring Malcolm McDowell by director Stanley Kubrick in 1971, and caused a stir with its visual portrayals of extreme violence.

Metta Theatre presents

ARAB NIGHTS An Arabian Nights for a modern age responding to the revolutions across the Middle East in this compelling collection of short plays by writers from Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Lebanon, Palestine and Syria. Infused with vivid story-telling, live music and puppetry, Metta Theatre’s magical new production rides the wave of international change.

Shahrazad needs to survive for just one more night. Can her stories save her? The audience decide – after each story – if she lives or dies. Featuring diabolical djinnis, 1000 perfect plastic dolls on the banks of the Nile, a modern-day Sindbad and a shoe-obsessed dictator’s wife.

METTA THEATRE

Since forming in 2005 Metta Theatre have taken their imaginative and compelling theatre across the country including the Young Vic, V&A Museum and Royal Opera House. Using all the story-telling tools in the book from music to puppetry to opera and circus they create meta-theatrical works – telling stories that include the audience in the act of telling. It’s theatre that wears its theatricality on its sleeve.

THE KINGDOM BY COLIN TEEVANThree Irishmen. Digging. Telling tales to put down the day.  But as they dig down, long buried secrets emerge and the story they tell is as dark as the earth itself.  Drawn from the myths of ancient Greece and full of rich and striking characters, The Kingdom vividly captures life as an Irish navvy in the last century -  a world of immigration, violence, sex, triumph and, ultimately, tragedy.

‘Elegant stagecraft... Brilliantly orchestrated.’ New York Times (on Colin Teevan’s The Bee at Soho Theatre)

‘This is a highly unusual theatrical gem.’ Time Out (on Colin Teevan’s The Bee at Soho Theatre)

COLIN TEEVAN RETURNS TO SOHO THEATRE

A celebrated playwright, translator and writer for screen, Colin Teevan’s many credits include Kafka’s Monkey at the Young Vic and Peer Gynt at the Barbican.
