New Job Openings Position Title: Software Systems Engineering Project Manager Position Number: 22233  Job Location: San Diego, CA As an Engineering Project Manager in the VAIO Division, you will coordinate project activities and schedules amongst Engineering, Quality Assuranc e, Manufacturi ng, P roduct Planning, Marketing, Service, and S upport person nel. This includes dr iving new softwar e product introduction programs from project initiation through delivery, interfacing with internal stakeholders on all matters. In conjunction with the functio nal departments, create the pro duct requirements document and schedul e that will be used as a tool in making decisions on how and when the product or service will be implemen ted. Develop relatio nships with multiple ma nagers (includin g development, product planning, marketing, and service managers) and provides them with technical, analytical, and process rela ted information. Organize cross func tional activities ensur ing completion of the program on schedule and with in budget constraint s. May manage multiple projects and may oversee others. The candidate, in ad dition to being deta il oriented, must have str ong project management and communicat ion skills, a software development background, and strong organizationa l skills. This candidate sho uld be able to speak with confidence about existin g and new technologies. This individual must be extremely articulate, comfortable with speaking in front of audiences, and be able to communicate effectively with both technologists and lay people.  Specific tasks can include product definition, risk definition and risk management, coaching and mentoring peers, scheduling, contract negotiations, management of external engineering partners, specification reviews, strategic direction participation, project budget management, and reviewing new technologies for possible applications.   The ideal candidate will be able to develop, monitor, and report on detailed program plans and schedules with minimal assistance. Lead a cross functional program team ensuring regular meetings with all affected team members, frequent and concise communication, documentat ion of the program throughout develo pment, and driving resolution of program issues. As appropriat e working with all of the teams, update program schedules and work with senior management to balance resources. Manage distributed software development progr ams. Manage risks to the programs (prepare deta iled risk analysis and mon itor contingency/mitigation plans). Handle program ch ange management processes. Meet or bea t program deliverables for sch edule and budget. Communicate program status to senior management and regularly (as appropri ate) communicate with/to engineering management. Analyze impac ts of potential new req uirements on progr ams and work with engineering tech nical leads and operation s to reduce software development time costs. Coordinate and manage pro ducts developed through Sony a nd its partners. New Job Openings• BA/BS degree in Engineering or Computer Science plus a minimum of 7 years of related

engineering experience to include a minimum of 1-3 years of project management experienc

• In lieu of degree, must have a minimum of 15 years of related engineering experience to

include a minimum of 5 years of project management experience in software projects

• An advanced Computer Science or Engineering degree is desired

• Strong communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills, and the ability to establish strongworking relationships at all levels with internal and external parties are also needed

• Strong leadership and ability to build teamwork and mutual respect with all internal andexternal stakeholders is required

• Strong sense of program/project ownership and ability to work independently or in a teamenvironment with minimum supervision

Must have good organizational and time management skills

• Must be comfortable working with multi-level management and Technical Engineering staff personnel on a daily basis

• Experience with software development processes and tools

• Experience with scrum/agile development. Scrum master certification is desired

• Experience with user experience/interface software development is necessary

• Experience with customer facing website development is very helpful

Experience with working within or interfacing with a computer OEM is desired• Experience with MS Office and MS Project is a must

• Experience in Manufacturing Operations is helpful
