Norcross, GA (April 6, 2010) – Mizuno, one of the leading slow pitch bat manufacturers in the world, isscheduled to launch the new Craze Slow Pitch Bat Series in May, 2010. This revolutionary new bat fromMizuno provides the slowpitch athlete with one of the most powerful, durable, and affordable bats on themarket. The Craze slow pitch bat is available in both ASA and USSSA models. Both the Craze and CrazeXtreme (USSSA model) bats have a 13 inch barrel.

Craze bats are uniquely made with Black Array Carbon, a state of the art carbon fiber. Black ArrayCarbon provides the perfect balance of durability and feel, while offering explosive distance and ultimatecontrol. All Craze bats are hand rolled in their initial development stage, before they are machine rolled inorder for a smooth finish. A new angled seaming process eliminates any edge inconsistencies in the bat, which will considerably reduce any soft spots or cracks, denying ultimate performance.

During the research and development process of the Craze, durability tests were conducted at Mizuno’srevolutionary Sozo™ Studios. Craze bats were repeatedly tested, simulating the most extreme game-likeconditions. The durability of the Craze proved to be extremely high, as the Craze™ bats show dramaticimprovement from previous Mizuno models before any signs of damage occurred.

Mizuno is not offering any warranty options on Craze bats, something the company has never donebefore. To demonstrate their confidence in the durability and performance of the Craze bat, and to wardoff consumers fears of the non-warranty, Mizuno has set the suggested retail price at $150.00. Thismakes the Craze one of the most affordable bats on the slow pitch bat market.

The Buzz about the Mizuno Craze:“The Craze is an unbelievable bat. I was originally concerned about the non-warranty of the Craze. However, when my team and I tested the bat repeatedly, our fears were erased. I don’t believe thatconsumers should be concerned about the non-warranty at all. I have over 900 swings on the Craze andit's still in perfect condition, and the performance is unreal. This is an outstanding bat, at an outstandingvalue.” - Tom Suchora, Team Sales Rep for Extra Innings, Utica, MI

ATHENS, GA—Playoff nerves could not creep into the minds of a relatively young Georgia Bulldogs softball teamlast year. What was labeled a possible rebuilding year at the beginning of the season blossomed into a legitimaterun at the national title. Much of the same potent offense and defense has returned to keep the university’s streak

of playoff appearances alive. The Bulldog’s circle is home to juniors Sarah McCloud, Katie Murphy, Alanna Hadleyand sophomore Erin Arevalo. During her freshman season in 2009, Arevalo made nine appearances, including oneagainst the Washington Huskies in the Women’s College World Series, and had a 5.15 ERA. Having always pridedthemselves on their young talent, it’s no surprise Arevalo has seen her fair share of the load early this year. At theBulldog Invitational in Mid-March, Arevalo pitched a no-hitter with Katie Murphy against Middle Tennessee. Arevalo

hurled the first four innings, improving to 11-1 on the season. Considering the team has only competed in 22 gamesthus far, Arevalo has been called often to lead the team to victory. With Georgia’s sweeping of the first SEC Pitcherof the Week honors, Arevalo has claimed two of them. The potent offense has also returned to compliment thestrength in the Bulldog circle. During the Bulldog Invitational, the team batted a combined .417, including sevenhome runs and outscored their opponents 41-2. In addition, they also stole 29 bases to increase their seasontotal to three swipes short of their season total last year. Four Bulldogs batted over .400—all returners—forthe tournament to devastate the competition and secure the tournament title. Junior Taylor Schlopy hit .727(8-for-11), sophomore Kristyn Sandberg cracked a .692 (9-for-13), junior Laura Trout batted a .556 (5-for-9) and Brianna Hesson swung a .417 (5-for-12). With the right combination of veterans and incomingplayers, the Bulldogs sit sixth in the national rankings and look promising to produce a sequel to last

year’s run toward the title.

SEATTLE, WA—The Huskies can remember it as if it just happened. Living, breathing, feeling, dreaming and tasting themoment they became NCAA Division I champions. Now, opening the season nearly flawless and with high expectations, theseladies have the hunger and drive required to repeat and, once again, become national champions. Senior pitcher and 2009 USASoftball Collegiate Player of the Year Danielle Lawrie was the talk of the team as the season came to a close last year and she hasreturned to the Huskies’ circle for her final year of collegiate play. Joining the pitching veteran is freshman pitcher Baily Harris, who has some big shoes to fill. Thus far, she has exceeded expectations. "We expect Baily Harris to come in and carry asignificant load of the pitching in her freshman year,” said Washington Huskies Head Coach Heather Tarr. “She is a crafty right-handed pitcher and a great student. We look forward to seeing Baily's impact on our program on the field and in the classroom."Harris improved to 8-1 on the season in a great offensive and defensive display against Seattle University March 14. Herimpressive efforts thus far have earned the confidence and support of the rest of her team. Outside of the circle, sophomoreinfielder Niki Williams and sophomore outfielder Kimi Pohlman also return as offensive powerhouses for the team. This season,“Pookie,” as many of her teammates call her, has not failed to impress. Leading the team during the March 14 weekend, Pohlmanbatted a .533 (8-for-15) with six RBIs and three stolen bases. Sitting atop the national rankings, the Huskies are expected to winthe PAC-10 title this season. Washington is carrying a near flawless run with the exception of one loss to Utah State in theCampbell Cartier Classic in late February. Since then, the team has gone on a terror, producing a 17-game winning streak andmomentum that is maintaining national attention and building self-confidence. “We want to win it just as badly as we did lastyear and I know we have a team that is capable of doing it again,” said senior outfielder Bailey Stenson. “Our biggest opponenton our schedule is the one we play all season: ourselves.”

ANN ARBOR, MI—Wolverines, according to experts, havebeen known to have two speeds: fast and stop. Strikinglysimilar to the furry animal the University of Michigan callstheir mascot, the Wolverine softball team has the samespeed and agility. Finishing last year fourth in the nationalrankings, the ladies from the north made a respectable andthreatening run toward the national title. Much of that sametalent has returned—a consistent trend in the top teams ofthis season. "We have a lot of people returning from lastyear, and last year we went on losing streaks or had a lottough games where we were down and had to fight back,”said senior pitcher Nikki Nemitz. “This team knows how towin. The game's not over until the seventh inning and thirdout. We're used to fighting back; I think it's just somethingwe're good at." Reinforcing the circle in 2010 are senior left-handed pitcher Nikki Nemitz, junior right-hander JordanTaylor and freshman right-hander Stephanie Speierman.Taylor has claimed three Pitcher of the Week awards so farthis season and is poised to see plenty more where thatcame from. Nemitz can not only blast in an unstoppablepitch, but she suits up for the offensive squad as well."That's why I love softball,” said Nemitz. “I love being ahitting pitcher. I get to help myself and contribute to theteam on both ends of the game. It felt good. It feels good tofinally be back where I'm at and help my team out." Duringthe same Red and Black Tournament, Nemitz also batted .800at the plate (4-for-5) with six RBIs. Senior right fielder Angela Findlay also returns to the University of Michigan this year. She went 2-for-3 at the platewith 2 RBIs in the game against Hofstra. Junior first baseman Dorian Shaw, who picked up her first Player of the Week accolade this season, matched acareer best performance during the same contest. "She is a presence,” said Michigan Wolverines Head Coach Carol Hutchins. “We're starting to seeteams pitch around her, and she's doing a good job of managing the zone and taking walks. We'll take her on base. Anything they give us, we'll take. So, we're pleased with that in the middle of the lineup, especially when we've got someone like Nikki hot behind her. That's a good combination tohave." The Wolverines are positive about the rest of this season and are expected to be in the thick of it when it comes time to dance.

TUSCALOOSA, AL—Relative to last season, it was starting to look as if the tide was rolling out on Alabama. After coming so close to making it to thechampionship dance, fans and critics were sure that the Crimson Tide would be back for another cut-throat season. Then they started to drop like arock in the first few national polls of the year. Within one week, the team fell from second to ninth in the national standings. Was this a sign of things tocome? Hardly. Despite the rocky start, Alabama has since settled and focused on the only thing that matters between now and May—softball. In fact, they drew first blood in the SEC when they bested Georgia in a three-game series 0-3, 8-5 and 13-4. In the circle, the double zeros return, almost like

eyes constantly watching you. Junior pitcher and NFCA First-Team All-American Kelsi Dunne isback, supported by also returning senior powerhouse Charlotte Morgan, sophomoreAmanda Locke and freshman Lauren Sewell. Sewell, who graduated from Pembroke PinesCharter High School, is 5-0 on the season with a 2.02 ERA. Certainly an impressive startfor the young freshman. Dunne is 7-4 on the season with a 3.03 ERA. The offensivefirepower is where the Crimson Tide really begins to measure up. In the March 14 gameagainst their SEC counterparts, the Georgia Bulldogs, Alabama belted four home runs to

blow the lead wide open and dash the Bulldogs' hopes for making a comeback. Fourplayers are batting over .300, including two over .400. Freshman infielder Kayla Braudis currently batting .463 with 9 RBIs, Sophomore first baseman Cassie Reilly-Bocciais swinging a .434 with 11 RBIs, sophomore catcher Olivia Gibson is cranking a .360with 8 RBIs and senior infielder Alex Blewitt is batting a .306 with 13 RBIs. As theCrimson Tide set sail for an action-packed season, they look to gain back the respectthey lost early in the season. With a couple of conference wins under their belt, beprepared to look for them when it comes time for playoffs.

Alabama Crimson TideThe Tide Begins to Roll Back In29-9 Overall, 12-4 SEC (As of April 8, 2010)

Late inning sprints to the finish allowed the Crimson Tide to tally two wins againstNo. 14 LSU Tigers on April 7.

Michigan WolverinesWolverines Learn From Last Year28-5 Overall, 5-0 Big Ten (As of April 8, 2010)

The Wolverines have rocked the Big Ten thus far with their undefeated run. They unleasheda massive 12-hit, 15-run domination of Wisconsin on April 3.

They have that glare, that look ofintimidation. Everyone knows who they are. It’s usually an icy look that tells an opposingcoach that there’s no way they are leavingwith a win.

They have fastballs that pop into thecatcher’s glove with a sound that can beheard from across the field. They have risersthat jump and changeups that frustrate eventhe most confident of hitters.

Elite Pitchers are a rare commodity inprep softball, but the ones that stand out are

heading to some of the biggest softball collegesin the country. Most of the top pitchers expect topitch as a freshman. Since most colleges trot outtheir ace on a regular bases, it’s not easy for afreshman to sign on with a team knowing thatthere’s already a top gun. College coaches thatentered this season with a senior starter didtheir homework, and here’s some of the bestthat they found.

Sara Buchholz(Gulliver Prep High, Miami)

Some pitchers like to fire fastballs all night

without any other pitches in the repertoire.Buchholz, a 5-9 senior at Gulliver Prep in Miami, does it exactly opposite.

Her approach has worked. She is a three-time Miami Herald pitcher of the year award andis on her way to a fourth. She was also namedPuerto Rican softball Athlete of the Year, not tomention countless other trophies and awardsthat fill her bookshelf.

Buchholz, who will pitch for the University ofNorth Carolina next season as a freshman, saidshe likes to out finesse the opposing batters.

“I hate throwing fastballs,’’ Buchholz said. “Ilike to move my pitches around and not feel like I

need to depend on speed. I’ll throw a fastball if Ihave to, but I don’t like doing. It. I am more of afinesse pitcher and that’s the way I like it.

Like most top pitchers, Buchholz exudesconfidence. After three straight Player of the Yearhonors, most of her opponents know who she isand, if they don’t, they do after their first at-bat.

“I think they know who I am now,’’Buchholz said. “If they don’t, they do after thefirst inning.’’

She’s going to a North Carolina team thathas some pitching already and is also bringing inAshley Bone, a highly recruited pitcher from NashCentral High in Rocky Mount, N.C. The Tar Heelswill be loaded with pitching, but Buchholz saidshe doesn’t mind waiting for her time.

“I don’t know if I will start next year, but Ilove that I will have to compete for time,’’ shesaid. “I am always up for a good competitionand it makes me even better. It brings out thebest in me.’’

Buchholz has been playing softball sinceshe turned 5 and is a member of the powerfulMiami Stingrays club team. It’s a 12-month gamefor her, but she has no problem with that.

“I never wanted to quit even though I doget tired,’’ Buchholz said. “I love everythingabout this game. What else would I do?’’

Jaclyn Traina(Naples High, Naples, Fla.)

Forget the 0.18 ERA during her junior year. It’s the no-hitter Jaclyn Traina threw in theFlorida Class 4A Regional Championship gamelast season that Traina remembers most.

That’s because she lost. And the seasonwas over for Naples, which fell to Lake Worth, 2-1. Naples committed three errors in the seventhinning for the losing margin.

”That hurt and I wanted so bad to getanother shot at them my senior year,’’ Traina said.

That changed when Florida reclassifiedthe schools into separate divisions, so there’sno chance at getting some revenge in the stateplayoffs. Traina allowed only three earned runsall of 2009, and she even considered that a letdown from 2008 when she registered an ERAof 0.36.

Next season she and Naples teammate, second baseman Ryan Iamurri, will play at theUniversity of Alabama. She said she isn’t goingwithout a state title for Naples.

Traina impressed the Alabama staff with avariety of pitches. She can bring the heat, but

likes to mix it up. Like Buchholz, she isn’t apitcher to stare down the opposition. She getsby on reputation. She was named the NaplesDaily News Softball Player of the Year for thethird time last season and is closing in on afourth. Last year, the numbers were great, but itwasn’t easy. She started the season with aknee injury and didn’t get on pace until thelatter end of the season when she put up 24consecutive scoreless innings.

Dallas Escobedo(St. Mary’s High School, Phoenix)

Dallas Escobedo might be intimidating onthe mound at 6-1, but she wasn’t like that at allwhen it came time to make her college decision.

“I’m really just a big baby,’’ Escobedo saidwhen she announced she was staying to hometo play at Arizona State University next year. Iwent with my family and now I get to stay withmy family. I got recruited by everyone, but Iwanted to stay home. I’m happy.’’ Opposingbatters in the Pac-10 won’t be.

Escobedo was named the Player of theYear by the Arizona Republic. She won 27games that first year and struck out morethan 500 batters. She hasn’t gone below 400since as she makes her way through hersenior season.

Escobedo started playing club softball forthe Arizona Hotshots at the age of eight andtook the mound the next year and hasn’twanted to leave it since.

Escobedo started her senior year with ano-hitter and a 12-inning perfect game andwas batting .400. She has her sights set on bigthings at Arizona State and she is confident thatshe can be very productive at the next level.

Arianna Erceg(Palos Verdes High School,Palos Verdes, Ca.)

Arianna Erceg signed to play for California-Berkeley next season even though the Bearsalready have two starting pitchers returning. She’s a slugging first baseman who just wantsto be on the field.

First, though, it’s about winning a statetitle for Palos Verdes. The team has hitroadblocks in the state playoffs the past threeyears. Palos Verdes won the Bay Leaguesoftball title last season, but wants to make adeeper run this year. With a roster full of

Division I talent, Erceg said she’d besurprised if the school didn’t pick upsome hardware after state championshiproll around.

“We won the Bay League and that’sreally great, but all I care about is goingfarther,’’ Erceg said. “We don’t just want towin, we plan to win.’’

She throws hard and loves to work thecorners with her riser, but a previous backinjury forced her to work on her changeup. It’snow one of her best pitches.

Erceg knew that she wouldn’t be gettingthe ball every day when she signed with Cal.The Bears are one of a few top-notchprograms that don’t have an ace, but spreadthe wealth. Erceg said she’d be happy to be ina rotation even though she could have beenan everyday pitcher at a lot of schools.

“All I ever wanted was to pitch for aPac-10 school,’’ Erceg said. “I love it atBerkeley and it’s my dream to be there. Arotation might be unusual, but it obviouslyworks for them.’’

Erceg started pitching at the age of 13when she started throwing for the nationally-known Orange County Batbusters.

Kaitlin Inglesby(Central Catholic High School,Portland, OR.)

Most coaches have to take the first stepin the recruiting process.

Kaitlin Inglesby wasn’t going to wait. Shestarted reviewing colleges before they got toher first. The mailbox was full after Inglesbystarter her own reviewing process, but sheknew all along where she wanted to go. Shesigned with the University of Washington, thetop-ranked team in Division I as of March 21.

“I wanted to play with the best programout there,’’ Inglesby said. “Washington wasperfect for me.’’

Inglesby top pitch is her fastball, but sheis able to mix in a curve and a riser. She playsher club ball for the Northwest Wave Gold, which travels throughout Oregon 12 months ayear. She suffered a bad wrist injury aftergetting smashed by a line drive earlier thisyear, but she’s kept at it.

“When I get on the mound, I know thatI am in charge,’’ Inglesby said. “I can beloud a lot of the time, but that’s just me. Ilike the reputation.’’

EASTON SPORTS INTRODUCES SPEED BAT LINE TO SLOW-PITCH SOFTBALLVAN NUYS, Calif. (October 19, 2009) – Easton Sports, the industry leader in bat technology, today announced the launch of three new Q4 offerings for slow-pitch softball players – including the introduction of Easton’s patented Speed technology to the slow-pitch softball market. Easton’s Synergy Speed BH andStealth Speed XL headline the additions and bring the same technology that has flourished on the baseball diamond to the softball field, while the aluminumCV12 rounds out the new offerings.

The Speed line features Easton’s lightest barrel design ever thanks to a new laser precision manufacturing technique that eliminates material overlap in thebarrel, trimming enough excess to reduce mass in the barrel for a lighter MOI (Moment of Inertia) and a faster swing speed. Both Speed bats includeEaston’s Focused Flex Handle technology for increased power, while the Synergy Speed utilizes a slightly end loaded barrel for more power through thezone, and Stealth Speed features a balanced swing weight and the largest hitting area in the game. As always, the new line of bats implement Easton’spatented Integrated Matrix Technology (IMX), utilizing the best in materials, design and manufacturing process. The CV12, Easton’s new multi-wall aluminumbat, contains a thin aluminum shell and lightweight composite inner tube, giving it a superior length-to-weight ratio. “With the CV12, Synergy Speed BH andStealth Speed XL, we’ve brought our Speed baseball technology to slow-pitch softball,” said Matt Arndt, senior vice president of Easton’s baseball/softballdivision. “I have to say the technology has transitioned very well. TPS® FASTPITCH INTRODUCES THE H2 HYBRID THE NEXT STEP IN OPTIMIZING COMPOSITE/ALLOY HYBRID DESIGNLOUISVILLE, KY– Louisville Slugger® created stiff handle, large sweet spot composite/alloy hybrid bats when it introduced the popular Exogrid® to baseball. TheExogrid was named baseball product of the year in 2007 and ended up becoming the game’s most popular bat. Now Louisville Slugger is back at the plate withanother stiff handle, large sweet spot composite/alloy hybrid bat for top level hitters. But this time it’s in fastpitch with the new 2009 TPS H2 Hybrid®.

“The H2 Hybrid’s exclusive design creates a lighter handle transition which means a longer barrel and bigger sweet spot,” said Louisville Slugger productdeveloper James Sass. “The H2 Hybrid builds off the success we had in baseball with Exogrid. It became baseball’s leading bat and the choice of the besthitters.” The H2 Hybrid, with its industry leading ST+20 alloy barrel and 3-X composite handle, seamlessly provides the outstanding performance of a 1-piecestiff handle design. The move to a full 100 percent graphite composite design in the transition area, from handle to barrel, allows for a handle that’s extra stiffbecause graphite is lighter and stronger than aluminum.

A stiff handle produces more barrel flex, resulting in maximum trampoline effect and, ultimately, outstanding performance. “The last thing you want at themoment of contact is for your bat handle to flex,” Sass said. “When the handle flexes, the barrel can’t. That reduces trampoline effect. The H2’s stiff handleproduces maximum barrel flex for the power all fastpitch hitters seek.” And the barrel’s ST+20 double wall alloy provides outstanding strength and toughness toproduce the performance, feel, and sound that top fastpitch players demand.

The FP9H29 is a minus 9 (-9) bat available in three lengths ranging from32 inches to 34 inches (32 in., 33 in, 34 in.) The FP9H28 is a minus 8 (-8) bat available in two lengths ranging from 33 inches to 34 inches (33 in., 34 in.) It isASA, USSSA, NSA, ISF and ISA approved. Suggested retail for the TPS Fastpitch H2 (FP9H2) H2 Hybrid bat is $299.95.

TPS STIFFNESS AND STRENGTH = POWER & PERFORMANCESerious softball players have learned that stiff handled bats are better than bats with handles that bend. Stiff handles mean power and performance, the veryreason the majority of Major League Baseball® players today choose stiff handle maple bats over pliable ash. Louisville Slugger TPS’s stiff handle bats createmore barrel flex, resulting in maximum trampoline effect and outstanding performance. Louisville Slugger TPS was the first bat maker to recognize that stiffnessand strength equals power and performance. It revolutionized fastpitch, slow pitch softball, and baseball with its hi-tech stiff handle technology and strong alloysand composites, first with the popular Catalyst® models.

NEW TRITON™ 3-X COMPOSITE FROM TPS® FASTPITCH BUBBLE TRANSITION CREATES EXTRA STIFFNESS, LARGER SWEET SPOTLOUISVILLE, KY Top level fastpitch players love the new Triton™ bats from Louisville Slugger® TPS®. Initially drawn to the unique 3-piece look and bubbletransition, players who’ve stepped to the plate with a Triton have quickly learned that it has an extra stiff handle and a very large sweet spot. Triton is uniquebecause it has a proprietary 3-X Composite design with three composite zones – barrel, handle, and Bubble Transition Zone – all made from 100 percentaerospace grade graphite. These three composite zones allow the barrel and handle to be designed and built as individual units.

TPS then brings them together with the revolutionary BT Zone (Bubble Transition Zone) that unites the barrel and handle into a more advanced 1-piece bat.“Triton’s BT Zone links the barrel to the handle, optimizing their relationship,” said Louisville Slugger product developer James Sass.

That makes a stiffer and stronger bat for outstanding performance.” With composites, performance and durability are dictated by the angle of the fibers and thewall thickness of the barrel. Louisville Slugger TPS’s high-strength fibers used in the Triton allow for the best angle for performance while keeping the barrel wallthin for maximum flexibility and trampoline effect.

“We use multiple layers of aerospace grade graphite. These high-strength thin fibers allow us to use more layers for durability and still design a light, thin wallbat for performance,” Sass said. “Our exclusive computer-designed pattern precisely positions the angles of graphite layers, giving the Triton an extra-long barrelwith a huge sweet spot and outstanding performance.”

TPS embeds a specially-designed toughened epoxy resin to lock the graphite layers together. That’s what forms Triton’s light, durable thin wall design. Thisexclusive manufacturing process eliminates air between the graphite layers, giving players the ultimate combination of performance and durability.

REEBOK RELEASES GROUNDBREAKING SOFTBALL EQUIPMENT WITH THEINTRODUCTION OF THE REEBOK VECTOR O SLOW PITCH SOFTBALL BATDesigned with Reebok’s Patented O-Technology, the Vector O Slow Pitch Softball BatAllows Hitters to Increase Their Bat Speed

CANTON, MA - Reebok introduced the Vector O Slow Pitch Softball Bat, the first softball bat to be infused withReebok’s patented O-Technology. In concert with Reebok’s Double Wall Composite Barrel, it is arguably the mosttechnologically advanced softball bat in history. Reebok’s revolutionary Vector O Slow Pitch Softball Bat is unlike anyother softball bat ever produced. Taking advantage of Reebok’s patented O-Technology, the bat has strategicallyplaced O-ports in the handle, reducing the amount of drag in each swing and allowing hitters to achieve a fasterswing speed, which can determine how far a ball travels when hit. In addition, the bat features Reebok’s Double WallComposite Barrel, which has one of the highest strength material ratios found in the barrel of any bat. Whencombined with Reebok’s O-Technology, the Vector O Slow Pitch Softball Bat enhances energy transfer back into theball during ball-bat collisions, allowing for greater power and distance. “We are excited to allow players of all ages totake full advantage of their potential with groundbreaking, top of the line equipment,” said Chris Waldeck, Reebok’sDirector, Cleated and Equipment – Team Sports. “We know that softball players run the gamut from weekendwarriors to intense tournament players and this bat will improve the performance of those two types of players andeveryone in between. The Reebok Vector O Slow Pitch Softball Bat is available in two models, The Vector O Plus andthe Vector O. The bats are available at Reebok, com, Eastbay, Play it Again Sports, and other sporting good retailers.

Bangkok, Thailand - The Asia Cup is a Men’s Slow-Pitch Softball series that has spanned 18 years andannually includes 50 teams that represent 15countries. The events are the true essence of goodwilland competition among the world softball community.

The series has a rich history and many topveteran players have participated in the Asia CupSeries. The teams are very prideful and exhibit someof the most amazing fundamental softball skills youmay ever witness.

The series represents the most skilled playersthroughout Asia and the Middle East. Additionally, itallows US servicemen and governmentrepresentatives abroad a place to play softball for 10months out of the year. The tournaments are veryimportant to the communities where they play. Thisyear‘s first time teams were from Qatar and Kuwait.

The Asia Cup also compliments the hostcities with social events and awards contributionsto local charities that are in need. The Tournamentseries is played in five countries Manila,Philippines, Jakarta, Indonesia, Tokyo, Japan,

Dubai, UAE, and Bangkok, Thailand. The events are sanctioned by ASA and played in

stadium venues with major softball dimensions asseen in the USA. The 50 plus teams play throughoutthe year and the series championship culminates intothe Asia Cup World Championship event held inBangkok, Thailand.

The 405 foot centerfield venues include QueenSirikit 60th Anniversary Stadium in Thanyaburi andThe Royal Bangkok Sports Club in Bangkok. Thisyear’s Marquee Tournament sponsor was EastonSports USA and Asia.

The Asia Cup has not been immune to thecurrent infectious trends of the Bat Doctors withoutBorders. The Asia Cup Board of Directors like manyAssociations felt it needed to level the spirit ofcompetition in 2009. The early events were riddledwith questionable bats and with no proven method totest illegal equipment on the spot; they decided tomake the Asia Cup World Championship in Bangkok aBring UR Real Skilz event.

The event used 18 ASA Brett Helmer Reveal batssupplied by Easton Sports. This allowed the players tofocus on their play versus the distractions and

questions that arise from modified bat issues.BISL Director and Asia Cup Board member,

Richard Nudera, stated “The players really took tothe format and realized embracing the Real Skilzformat gave them the opportunity of a level playingfield around equipment.”

The four day field was set with 18 teams from13 countries. This group would decide the Asia CupWorld Championships. Previous 2009 tournamentwinners were the early favorites which includedHammers International Korea, Korea Guzzlers,FattBoyz USA, and RBSC/Tilac Thailand.

The tournament began with an important 3game seeding format that culminates into astandard two game elimination bracket thatdecides The Brett Helmer /Easton Bring UR RealSkilz/ Asia Cup World Championship.

The lowest finishing 10 teams are placed intothe Governor’s Cup Championship. The 2009Governor Cup Champions were the ShanghaiBeavers-China with a 3-3 record. They were lead by(All Tournament) Dan Lipetzky. The seeding roundwent as expected with the top 8 teams holding theirChampionship form and moving into the Asia Cup

Championship bracket. The two-game eliminationbracket was now set to determine the Easton AsiaCup World Champion Bangkok.

The opening games were won by Big Bamboo#1 Sons and FattBoyz USA in the upper bracket. The winners in the lower portion of the bracketwere the Korea Guzzlers and HammersInternational-Korea.

The Semi-Finals were now set with KoreaGuzzlers facing their fellow countrymen HammersInternational Korea. The game was very low scoringbut went back-n-forth throughout. The large fielddimensions and 100 degree heat played a role ashomeruns were absent in this game.

The game was taken over in the 6th inningwhen Guzzler’s Greg Zayas, (All Tournament) MikeJenkins, and Jeff Libengood combined offensivelyto cap a 4 run offensive inning that holstered theHammers 7-3.

The Hammers were victims of an acrobaticGreg Zayas unassisted double play in the 7th toclose the game and the final remained 7-3 KoreaGuzzlers. (All Tournament) Elmer Mason was astandout for the losing Hammers International. TheGuzzlers were into the winner bracket final.

The second Semi-Final pitted the FatBoyz USAagainst Big Bamboo #1 Sons-Hong Kong. The BigBamboo was cut down by the FatBoyz buzz saw.The game featured a two inning offensive outburstlead by (All Tournament) Anthony Garnica, ArmandoDelsi, Chris Chaney (All Tournament), and (SilverSlugger) Chris Edip.

It plated 17 runs and with (All Tournament) AlAspen’s pitching the Big Bamboo had no answer. Afew outstanding defensive highlights were four longrange rocketed put outs from outfielders (MVP) NickRobertson and (All Tournament) Chris Edip toFattBoyz catcher Chris Chaney.

The overall defense allowed the FattBoyz USAa 17-0 victory and a trip to meet the Korea Guzzlers

in the winner bracket finals. The winners bracket finals was playing host to a

packed house. The Queen Sirikit 60th AnniversaryStadium in Thanyaburi was loud and rowdy throughoutthe Saturday night game. Both teams had a lot ofsupport and this is the type of game the crowds getup for.

The game began with an early lead by theGuzzlers over FattBoyz 7-1. A strong offensive start asthe Guzzlers chugged past the FattBoyz USA. A flashyfirst inning as the Guzzlers came up with twooutstanding defensive gems by Greg Zayas too.

The second, third, and fourth innings proved thedeciding frames as FattBoyz rallied behind (AllTournament) Gary Chaney, Thomas LaBrie, (AllTournament) Al Aspen, (All Tournament) AnthonyGarnica, and Jason Kreider. Each player failed to makean out and spurred a three inning run barrage.

The FattBoyz USA finished the game byoutscoring the Guzzlers 16-2. Armando Delsi (SS)and Al Aspen shared the pitching duties to stem thetide. The final score was FattBoyz USA (17) andKorea Guzzlers (9).

This sent the Korea Guzzlers to face theHammers International Korea in the loser bracketfinals. The two Korea teams had faced each otherearlier and redemption was in the minds of theHammers. The Korea Guzzlers ran the score upquickly and again leaned on their strong infielddefense and pitching.

The game quickly was 10-1 in favor of theGuzzlers after 5 innings. The game ended with theKorea Guzzlers winning by the count of 16-2. TheHammer International Korea team earned Third Place. The Korea Guzzlers were headed back to meet theFattBoyz USA in the Championship Finals.

The Asia Cup World Championship BangkokFinals were reconvened at The Royal Bangkok SportsClub in Bangkok.

The Guzzlers on Sunday morning certainly

brought their A game. They jumped out quickly on theFattBoyz with an early 6-2 lead through 3 innings. (AllTournament) Mike Jenkins lead the Guzzlers as theoffense proved relentless throughout. The FattBoyzwere stymied as the game was truly not close.

The FattBoyz mounted 4 runs in the fifth inningto close the gap to 9-6 on a triple from (AllTournament/Silver Slugger) Chris Edip. The KoreaGuzzlers immediately responded with 3 runs in thesixth inning on a Greg Zayas two run double. Thegame closed out with the Korea Guzzlers winning by ascore of 12-6.

This set the stage for a dramatic one gamechampionship for the title. “We wanted to put thepressure on them and forcing an “IF” game wasexactly what we were hoping for.” said Manager/President Tom Costello.

The “IF” game for The Asia Cup WorldChampionship Bangkok was on! The crowd appearedto rally very strong for the Guzzlers. The FattBoyzsupporters were beginning to get very vocal to lifttheir team up from a frustrating morning loss.

The FattBoyz really stepped up in the final game. The first inning proved to be the deciding inning. TheFattBoyz USA spun a wheel in the first. They scored10 runs with all ten batters reaching base to start thegame. The Korea Guzzlers answered with 5 runs. Thescore sat at 10-5 FattBoyz USA leading until the fourthinning when (All Tournament) Al Aspen, (MVP) NickRobertson, Thomas LaBrie, Armando Delsi, and (AllTournament/Silver Slugger) Chris Edip pushed theFattBoyz to 15-6 lead with key hits to put the gameout of reach.
