Introduction


1 INTRODUCTION

1.1 Overview

The Startec SOFFIO Diffuser kit for Solà Prosem K (hereinafter, "SOFFIO

Diffuser") is an equipment specifically designed and manufactured to localize

microgranular products on a band wide some centimeters.

The SOFFIO Diffuser has been designed to be compatible with the Sola

precision seeder model Prosem K.

The SOFFIO Diffuser is patented (European patent No. 2893795, Italian patent

No. 1423249).

1.2 Information about this document

This document (hereinafter referred to as the "Instructions") includes the

explanations on how to mount the SOFFIO Diffusers on a Kuhn Maxima 2

precision seeder and the instructions for their use and maintenance.

The Instructions are delivered to the user jointly with the SOFFIO Diffuser.

It is important to make available the Instructions to the personnel in charge of

the installation to whom they are primarily addressed, and to store them in a

proper location.

The Instructions shall be carefully read.

The contents of the Instructions are property of Startec S.r.l. (hereinafter

“Startec”) and, unless specifically authorized by Startec itself in writing, any

reproduction, even partial, is prohibited.

2 SECURITY

Read the instructions carefully and entirely before installing and using the

SOFFIO Diffuser.

The SOFFIO Diffuser is the end of a dosing and distribution system. Before

mounting it, check carefully that the SOFFIO Diffuser is compatible and that it

does not interfere with the correct functioning of all the other parts present. In

case of non-compatibility or doubt, please contact Startec or the machine

manufacturer's service department.

The Instructions must be read in advance and assimilated by the personnel in

charge of the installation. They shall be available during the mounting

operations.

If the information contained in the Instructions is not sufficiently clear or

exhaustive, you may contact Startec for servicing purposes.

Any use with products and for applications other than the original ones (see

Errore. L'origine riferimento non è stata trovata. above) is forbidden. Startec

declines any responsibility deriving from improper use or modifications made to

the SOFFIO Diffuser. The intended use is professional and in the agricultural

field.

While the machine is running, it is forbidden to install, clean or grease parts and

elements or to carry out any adjustment, maintenance and/or repair operation

on them. Do not modify or put out of service parts of the equipment or safety

devices.

It is the full responsibility of the operator to wear clothing which, in relation to

the nature of the operations and the characteristics of the equipment, does not

constitute a danger to personal safety or to third parties’ safety. Keep hair

gathered during work. Always use personal protection devices prescribed under

law rules in force.

For all installation and installation-related activities, you shall use only suitable

tools and well-kept equipment. The installation site must be appropriate and

safe for carrying out the operations. The precision seeder must be installed

correctly so as not to injure the operator.

Startec declines any responsibility deriving from or connected to the type of

microgranular product used and its effectiveness.

Composition


3 COMPOSITION

The SOFFIO Diffuser kit for Solà Prosem K is made up of::

a. one SOFFIO diffuser – code 87698275 (right element); code 87698277

(left element) – for each seeding element of the precision seeder on

which it is to be installed.

It is the buyer's responsibility to verify the integrity and conformity of the goods

received. If inconsistencies are detected, inform Startec immediately.

The SOFFIO Diffuser is composed of:

1. a stainless steel pipe with the bottom part specially designed and

shaped;

2. a plastic insert that allows the diffusion of the product;

3. plastic supports for fixing.

Each component is shown in detail in chapter 6 (Spare parts).

All material resulting from packaging or not used must be properly disposed of

in accordance with the applicable rules in force.

4 MOUNTING

4.1 Installers’ expertise

The installation of the SOFFIO Diffuser must be carried out by installers experts

about the seeding machine on which it is to be applied (Solà model Prosem K

precision seeder).

The installers shall have gained expertise in mechanical applications. Startec

declines any responsibility deriving from or connected to an assembly not

carried out in accordance with the best practice. All applicable rules in force

must be applied.

4.1 Mounting Execution

The following assembly operations must be repeated for each seeding unit of

the Solà Prosem K precision seeder.

The SOFFIO Diffuser must be installed without having parts moving, being the

precision seeder and the tractor switched off and in safety. Carry out the

operations in a suitable and sufficiently lit place.

4.1.1 Tools required for installation

The following tools are required for mounting.

4.1.1 Removal of the standard pipe

Remove the standard pipe (Solà) for the descent of the microgranules on each

element of the precision seeder (Fig. 3; nr. 1).

The necessary steps to perform this operation are the following.

1. Remove the flexible hose from the descent pipe (Fig. 4);

2. using the 10 mm wrench, unscrew the two screws that secure the precision

seeder descent pipe (right and left side) (Fig. 5);

3. Remove the descent pipe from its seat (Fig. 6).

4.1.1 Mounting of the SOFFIO Diffuser

The installation foresees the mounting of the SOFFIO Diffusers to replace the

standard pipes previously removed.

The left SOFFIO Diffusers will be mounted in the left elements of the seeder

being those that have the flexible hose at their left side ( Fig. 7), while the right

SOFFIO Diffusers in are to be mounted in the right elements of the seeder,

being those that have the flexible hose in the right side (Fig. 8).

The necessary steps to perform this operation are the following.

1. Insert the reducer on the diffuser pipe (Fig. 9; nr. 1);

2. insert the left diffuser pipe in the left element of the Solà Prosem K (flexible

hose the left) (Fig. 10);

3. adjust the position of the SOFFIO Diffuser and lock the two right and left

fixing screws (Fig. 11);

4. Connect the original hose for the microgranules descent to the Diffuser (Fig.

12Errore. L'origine riferimento non è stata trovata.) and secure it with

the appropriate clamps (Fig. 12 e Fig. 13).

To mount the right SOFFIO Diffuser on the Solà Prosem Kright elements –

flexible hose on the right – (Fig. 14 e Fig. 15), repeat the steps from 1 to 3.

ATTENTION

When the installation is completed, check that:

- there is no interference with the parts of the precision seeder and for the seeds distribution;

- the microgranular product is distributed in the desired

band of land as prescribed by the manufacturer/supplier.

Check frequently the correct functioning of the precision seeder

and of the SOFFIO Diffuser.

4.1.1 Dismantling of SOFFIO Diffuser

To dismantle the SOFFIO Diffuser, carry out the assembly operations

described above in reverse order.

Use


5 USE

The SOFFIO Diffuser has been designed, built and patented for the diffusion of

granular and microgranular products in agriculture. The manufacturer declines

any responsibility for different uses.

Check, at the end of the assembly and before each use that:

- the microgranular product is distributed in the desired band of land as

prescribed by the manufacturer / supplier;

- the correct functioning of the precision seeder;

- there is no interference between the SOFFIO Diffuser and the seederl and the

correct distribution of seeds, microgranules and any other products.

In case of problems or doubts, suspend the assembly and use of the SOFFIO

Diffuser and immediately inform the supplier of the SOFFIO Diffusers and

Startec, describing the situation.
