“Very often in informal conversations with colleagues that have felt the benefit of global networking, we come to the point that we agree that without the financial help of institutions like DAAD and the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, our scientific work would be limited to producing theories or there would be no work at all (it depends on how good someone is in theory!). Maybe it seems as a rough statement, but in these uncertain economical times when "recession" is the most used word everywhere and particularly in the economically weaker countries, the help of the DAAD-SOE is more than welcomed. It is not only the financial support of course. In my experience, through this program I met people from the region and Germany with whom I shared not only the scientific side, but a real warm and human friendship that still lasts. That is of course a specific good that everybody can use, which is wholeheartedly offered by the program.I just hope that this program in which students, professors and scientists are offered a way to freely exchange ideas and bring the region closer together, will be further going on in its quest for better future.“
