Nerdz Of WisdomLOOKING for MR. PERFECT by Darnell Hicks(courtesy of CollegeMansion.com)

So you just got out of a long-term relationship and your once high expectations have suddenly come crashing to the ground. Initially, you wanted your partner to be that perfect “Soul-Mate”. That dream was short-lived. After a few argu-ments and some unreturned texts, you decided to write him off as a tax

liability and continue your search for Mr. Perfect.

I always find it interesting when a girl says she’s waiting for the “Per-fect Man” to come sweep her off her feet. I hate to be the bearer of bad news but “Mr. Perfect” doesn’t exist. Wait by the window as long as you want, but no Prince Charming is gonna come galloping up your drive-way on a white horse. That perfect man is as real as Elmer Fudd! Listen ladies, we are all flawed. When a man messes up, understand that it’s part of our human nature. And what’s so ironic is that many girls find the good guys of this world (aka the Mr. Perfects) boring & unexciting! Instead, you find yourself attracted to that loud obnoxious guy at the end of the bar with twenty tattoos who’s smacking his friend on the head!

Photograph by Devinwade Robinson

But why is this? Why do we often want what isn’t good for us? Have you ever noticed how sometimes we are attracted to people that we nor-mally wouldn’t consider our type? Could it be chemistry?

This “Chemistry” may attract you to your stereotypical “Mr. Wrong” but there’s nothing you can do about it! Those who ignore this chem-istry and date based on looks find themselves with an attractive person whom they have no real connection with. On the other hand, there are many people who find a sub par looker that they are absolutely crazy about…because the chemistry is there! Let’s face it, in the world of dating and relationships chemistry is a must. Yeah, he may be a four foot tall chocolate maker, with green hair and an orange face, but if the connection is there…go for it! In conclusion, no more saying, “I’ll keep looking for the Perfect Man” because that guy doesn’t exist. Instead, try building a relationship with Mr. “Good Enough for Me” - one who you except for their flaws and look forward to spending every moment with. Yeah, he may get moody from time to time or he may belch loud after a meal, but when you lower your expectations, you’ll be surprised what you can put up with.

How Do YOU Party?

Page 15: Society Page Magazine

15

How did you get started in this business?

I was always entertaining and loved performing as a child, and it was just kind of a natural transition. Plus, I was always around music, which was important in my family growing up.

What do you like about performing in Atlantic City?

The AC crowd is always so diverse and accepting of all genres of music.

You’ve worked with a lot of celebrities – Who has been your favorite to work with and why? Sway, from MTV, because he made me instantly comfortable.

What do you think makes you different from other DJs in the area?

I am very performance oriented. I also feel that I am innovative, and I pride myself in finding good music as soon as it is somewhere to be found. I like to find the hits before they are hits.

You spin open format music, but what would be on YOUR ideal playlist?

Very dirty electro beats.

What formats have you found are most popular? It seriously varies on the venue and city. I am lucky to have gotten to travel a little bit, and it truly varies drastically. Finish the sentence! My staple song that ALWAYS gets the crowd moving is...

You’ll have to come and see me and find out. I really don’t have one “go to” tune. It’s more about an overall journey.

What does “A Day In The Life Of DJ Freezie look like? You really don’t want to know!!! Seriously, I wake up and hopefully actually get up relatively soon after. I then go out in the city and grab some coffee. Then go home and work on music for a couple of hours, and then get ready to go out and rage!!!!!!!

What do you hope your life looks like 10 years from now? All I have ever wanted out of life was the following: Love, passion and success.

DJ FREEZIE

Concierge’s Corner

Don’t worry, I didn’t forget about you. Supper Club is the last Tuesday of the month, except when it’s not, and this is one of those times.

Seana, who chose the restaurant (resides in Philly most of the time), was able to go tonight instead of yesterday. Thus the change. It was worth the wait, because she chose Domenico’s in Ventnor.

I was there years ago, but didn’t remember anything too special about it so I was excited to try it again. This is a small BYOB restaurant and I was very glad that we had reservations because this place was busy (which I wasn’t expecting for early Spring with Winter weather).

We were shown to our table and the server brought out sliced bread with a side of eggplant and roasted pepper spread. This was delicious and the addition of a side of olive oil made this even better. Dinner was off to a good start. This is a BYOB and even though Seana brought a bottle of white wine to share I decided to just stick with water. Taking a sip, I looked over the Italian and Mediterranean menu. It was a simple two pages, along with several

specials that the server recited.

We started with appetizers. Jazz got the Clams Casino. Although there were only five clams to an order, they were packed full of goodness and looked great. The rest of us each ordered a salad. I split the Tre Colori salad which was three types of lettuce, red onions, calamatta olives, tomatoes, roasted peppers and fresh mozzarella cheese with balsamic vinaigrette. This was really good and flavorful.

Since I had just had a lot of pasta earlier in the week I wanted to go for something else. The bronzino special caught my ear. This trendy Mediterranean seabass has been showing up on a lot of menus lately, but I had still never tried it.

Tonight was my night though. Since this is served whole a lot of the time I wanted to make sure the head and tail were removed before it made it to me which I was assured it would be. It was described as being cooked in parchment with vegetables and sounded very tasty. The fish arrived in a bowl of broth with just the skin on. It was so tender it fell apart under my fork. The broth also contained

green beans, thinly sliced carrot, potato chunks, and several other veggies. This wasn’t highly seasoned or dramatic, it was just very fresh tasting and good for you.

The cod special and the veal also got very good reviews from the table. Since everything was so light (and I even cleaned my plate) there was still lots of room for dessert. These were decidedly Italian and most of them were made on-site.

Half of the table, myself included, ordered the Tiramisu which was extremely moist and the rum was very pronounced. I finished all of this myself as well. This was a perfect ending along with a cup of coffee. Lava cake and berries with whipped cream were also popular choices for the group.

When we were the leaving the restaurant the chef actually followed us outside and thanked us for coming which was a really nice touch and a first for me. I will definitely be back to check out some of their other menu items. That’s all for now, but stay close for my pick next month!

Supper Club

Concierges’ Buffet Review: The buffet review is a compi-lation of guest feedback with a 10-point criteria. The last update was April 1, 2013.

Most Casino’s have buffets but also included is Smithville Inn, Stockton Seaview Golf Resort, Rams Head Inn and Courtyard Marriot in Atlantic City. If you have a suggestion for an addition let us know.

Here is the criteria 1-10: (1) Quality of food (2) Freshness (3) Variety (4) Consistency (5) Service (6) Value-Best pricing (7) Hour of operation - Open Daily (8) Lay Out (9) Easy to navigate (10) Parking

Casino Buffets:

#1. Waterfront Buffet at Harrah’s with an array of en-ticing variety. (if you think it they have it) $26.99-$36.99.

#2. The Boardwalk Buffet at Caesars is also an extensive layout of choices that will spark the imagination. It’s actually merged into one with

Bally’s Buffet. Bally’s no longer has a buffet.

#3. The low cost leader is the Atlantic Club named Cornu-copia Buffet. Believe it or not at $9.99 (cash) and is open Fri-Sun only and has FREE PARKING.

#4.The Borgata is the long time Buffet leader for their high quality and consis-tency at $15.99-$30.95 simply named The Borgata Buffet.

#5. If seafood is your passion Showboat is the official sea-food buffet called the French Quarter Buffet. On Saturdays they add Filet Mignon and make it a Surf and Turf. $12.99-$32.99 Make sure you have a total rewards card for additional discounts.

#6 The Trump Taj Mahal’s Sultans Feast has made to order angus beef steaks. Call ahead for pricing and make sure they are open.

#7 The Tropicana has the Fiesta Buffet $19.95-$24.99,

yet we get very little feedback about this buffet.

#8 The Golden Nugget buf-fet is open Daily and serves lunch for $16.99 and dinner for $20.99 and has Seafood Friday’s for $26.99. Best value in town. The Golden Nugget is the Landry’s restau-rant company and they know how to prepare food. This imagination inspired title is The Buffet.

#9 Resorts Buffet: ready for this? It’s also called The Buffet and is $19.99-$29.99. There are two for one buffet coupons at the concierge desk and your local WAWA stores for Resorts Buffet.

Revel Resort does not have a buffet at this time but the word is they will have one in the near future. The Trump Plaza no longer offers a buffet.

Non-Casino buffets.

#10 Courtyard Marriot has an excellent breakfast buffet at $10.95 and is served till 11:00

am on weekdays and till noon on Saturday and Sunday.

#11. Smithville Inn in Gal-loway has an award winning Sunday brunch $24.99 and is served in the Historical Landmark building.

#12. The Stockton Seaview Golf Resort’s Sunday Brunch at $39.95 is a little higher end with its historical golf resort ambiance.

The Rams Head Inn does not offer a buffet or brunch at this time. They do have a fixed price menu at $29.95. The Most recommended. There are Three #1’s:

1. Smithville’s Sun Brunch $24.951. Courtyard Marriott’s daily Breakfast $10.951. Golden Nugget Buffet $16.99 Lunch/$20.99 Dinner Top quality, best ambiance. 2. And the runner up is Resorts Buffet. A great value with the 2 for 1 coupon.
