Kelly Ingleright-Telgenhoff - I would like to thank you forsubmitting such beautiful works for the show this year. Ihave been teaching at the university level for thirteen yearsand was greatly impressed with the wonderful textures,originality, vibrancy, and well choreographed, and designedpaintings of the members in your organization. It was trulya joy to view the paintings created by all of you—many ofyou have inspired me as well! Really that is what being inan organization, and around other artists, is all about—inspiration!The sheer number of abstract paintings in this show

astounded and impressed me. Those of you that entered an abstract—kudos to allof you! The level of clarity (or lack of muddiness) was wonderful. Your choice ofcolors, design, and composition were inspiring to me. I have just entered a newphase in painting—that of the abstract. You have given me something to shoot foras I continue my learning process.Several portrait paintings and portraits of animals entered the field and I must say,they were splendid. Many of you demonstrate wonderful foreshortening skills thatare exceptional. There were several images of children and you folks captured theinnocence and wonder of a child. Well done!There were several landscape paintings that were exceptionally memorable. Thebarn (with lettering) with horses in the foreground was very good. The perspectiveand foreshortening utilized by the artist was exceptional. I would also like to statethat the Russian Kremlin (roots) painting was very well crafted also. The colors andunique quality of the image will always remain in my memory. The seascape withboats also stood out as an exceptional work that offered a level of variety in theshow—great job!

Judy Marlar - What a wonderful Members’ Show we had! I was over-whelmed (and so was our judge) by all the wonderful paintings fromSWA members. Kelly confided in me that it was going to be a verytough job judging the entries, because there were so many greatwork, and I fully agreed with her. As I walked around with Kelly before she started judging, I was ableto drink in all the fabulous designs and rich color. Portraits, stills,abstracts, animals, florals, etc., every subject was covered by ourSWA artists in a grand manner. Two thoughts came to mind duringthat time. One, I was very grateful that I was not judging and two, Iwas humbled seeing such excellence exhibited before me. I came awaywith one sure that I have a long way to go before I measure even half way to the SWAartists represented in this show. Thanks to all of you who shared your painting talent and all those who volunteered towork helping to create such an excellent show. It was my first experience with an SWAshow, but it won’t be my last. Congratulations to all who placed and all who were ac-cepted. I would also like to congratulate Darlia Hobbs Tom Kellie, and Suzanne McNeil-Sparks our newest signature members.Hope to see all of you again for the national show coming up next spring. Until then, keepthose brushes painting!
