WELCOME TO THE SVM ANNUAL MEETINgThe Society for Vascular Medicine’s 2013 Annual Meeting is the premier multidisciplinary educational
event in vascular medicine. The meeting provides needed education and training through:
• ScientificSessions that provide updates on current trends in vascular medicine, information on
clinical trials and new treatment options for managing vascular disease.
• Hands-onWorkshopsaddressing the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases. Topics include
non-invasive diagnostic modalities, wound care and demonstrations of OCT, carotid IMT and FMD.
• SVMintheVascularLaboratory2013:EvaluatingtheHorses;RecognizingtheZebras.
Topics to be covered include cerebrovascular testing, peripheral arterial testing, abdominal aorta
and visceral testing, venous testing and updates on the vascular lab.
The SVM Annual Meeting exposes the vascular practitioner to the discoveries and trends in
pharmacotherapy for preventing adverse vascular events; vascular and molecular imaging; endovascular
intervention and devices; pathobiology of vascular diseases; and the management of the associated
medical disorders of metabolism and coagulation.
SVM is a community of vascular
clinicians who believe in the
benefits of multidisciplinary
discussion of critical evolving
issues in vascular medicine.
about sVMThe Society for Vascular Medicine is dedicated to improving the recognition and care of vascular diseases; fostering education and research in vascular medicine; and providing leadership to government, industry and the profession regarding issues related to vascular health. SVM includes among its membership the major investigators and opinion leaders in vascular medicine. The field of vascular medicine encompasses a broad spectrum of arterial, venous and lymphatic disorders, as well as the associated medical disorders of hypertension, hyperlipidemia, insulin resistance and diabetes mellitus. This diversity and complexity of vascular diseases requires knowledgeable practitioners of vascular medicine to provide cost-effective care.

This activity has been planned and implemented in accordance with the Essential Areas and Policies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) through the joint sponsorship of the Colorado Foundation for Medical Care (CFMC) and SVM. CFMC is accredited by the ACCME to provide continuing medical education for physicians.
Colorado Foundation for Medical Care designates this Live Activity for a maximum of 19.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s)™. Physicians should claim only the credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
CME credit is also available to physician assistants, nurse practitioners and doctors of osteopathy. CME hours may also be used for RVT and RVS credentials.
disclosuReCFMC and Course Director, Dr. James Froehlich, MD, MPH, FSVM, and SVM ask all individuals involved in the development and presentation of continuing medical education (CME) activities to disclose all relationships with commercial interests. Disclosures will be published in the conference program.
PRogRaM oVeRViewVascular diseases represent the single most important cause of death and disability in the United States and will remain so for the decades ahead. SVM’s meetings provide an important arena to help health care providers maintain their focus on tangible cardiovascular health threats.
An essential component of every year’s meeting is to feature internationally recognized clinician-investigators, clinician educators and renowned vascular scientists to keep attendees abreast of the issues that impact their patients, their practice and their livelihood.
This educational activity is supported by an unrestricted educational grant from American Board of Vascular Medicine and JUZO.
leaRning obJectiVesscientific sessionsas a result of attending these sessions, the participant will be able to:

new at the annual scientific sessions foR 2013
The SVM Annual Scientific Sessions is the place to be to talk with and learn from the leaders in vascular medicine. And now, SVM is inviting you to bring the topic that’s most important to YOU! There are four opportunities:
CallforSeniorInvestigators: Senior Investigators are encouraged to submit abstracts for a new Senior Investigator portion of the poster session. The abstract should indicate where your research is going and how you have guided it: in other words, tell your career story. It should also present and discuss your research as a whole — an overview. “Where I’ve been and where I’m going.”
CallforMemberLecture: For the topic that’s near and dear to your heart, but missing from the agenda, here’s the chance to give a 13-minute presentation on the topic of your choice during the Scientific Sessions on Thursday, June 13, 2013. The subject must be of interest to an audience of vascular medicine practitioners.
CelebratingInnovationinVascularMedicineShowcase CallforInnovators: SVM will celebrate our members’ unique talents during the Celebrating Innovation in Vascular Medicine Showcase on Friday, June 14, 2013. The vascular medicine innovator and industry partner will discuss how the idea came about and the process of bringing the product to market. Don’t miss this opportunity to hear how others have done it and how you can do it, too!
First-everMaintenanceofCertificationOfferingIn addition to the CME offered during the meeting, the American Board of Internal Medicine and SVM are working together to provide relevant opportunities for physicians to update and maintain their knowledge and performance in practice and improve patient care while earning Maintenance of certification Credit. Take advantage of this morning session with top trainers.
For more information on these opportunities go to the SVM website, www.vascularmed.org.

Currently, 34 countries participate in the Visa Waiver Program (VWP). Visitors entering on the VWP cannot work nor study while in the United States and cannot stay longer than 90 days or change their status to another category. Visitors entering on the VWP must have machine-readable passports. Travelers without machine-readable passports will need to apply for a visa to enter the United States. Applicants for visitor visas should generally apply at the American embassy or consulate with jurisdiction over their place of permanent residence. Though visa applicants may apply at any U.S. consular office abroad, it may be more difficult to qualify for the visa outside the country of permanent residence. For additional information regarding obtaining a visa, visit the U.S. government Web site at http://travel.state.gov/visa/visa_1750.html. Travelers entering the United States from all countries (including Canada, Mexico and the Caribbean) must present a passport.
