In this post, well go over how to install Google Analytics onyour WordPress.org blog.Signing Up For Google AnalyticsFirst and foremost, you need to sign up for Google Analytics at google.com/analytics.You can sign in using your Gmail address (or create one if you dont have one already),and then click on the button that reads Sign Up.On the sign up screen, you will create an account name (anything youd like), enter yourweb sites URL, and then check the box stating that you agree with the Terms ofService. Once you have finished and click Create Account, youll be given a GoogleAnalytics Tracking ID number.Adding the Tracking Number to Your WordPress PageThe instructions underneath your Tracking ID number give you a string of HTML code tocopy and paste onto your site. This code must be added to your websites header orfooter so it can track your website and all of its sub-sites.Fortunately, thanks to WordPress, you dont have to deal with this HTML code and worryabout editing HTML. All you need is your Tracking ID Number.</li></ul> <p> 2. From your WordPress Dashboard, click Plugins on the left-hand side of the screen andselect Add New from the drop down box. In the search box, type in Google Analyticsfor WordPress and then click Search Plugins.The first plugin available is the one you searched for, Google Analytics for WordPress.Install and activate this plugin. On the Plugins screen, youll be prompted to select whichAnalytics Profile to track; click on the link in the prompt to reach a Google AnalyticsSettings screen.From here, you can sync your Google Account by either clicking on the button toAuthenticate with Google or by checking the box to manually enter your UA code (theTracking ID number) that you have ready. Once youve done that, click Update GoogleAnalytics Settings; and just like that, you are ready to go!It will take a few hours for Googles crawlers to sync your website to your GoogleAnalytics profile.
