December 2016

Dear Employees of the FIBRO Group, Dear Readers,

This year has clearly shown that the increase in sales and marketing activities, an optimization of our business processes, and targeted investments in research and development pay off.

In 2016, for example, we could win approximately 800 new customers. We have again doubled our investments in research and development compared to last year - and the results are impressive:

We could extend our sales portfolio of standard parts and rotary tables by adding 80 new products. The number of patent applications was increased from three in the previous year to seven this year!

Another piece of proof for the innovative power of the standard parts division is the EuroBLECH Award 2016 that we received in the category of "Stamping Technology". FIBRO received this award for their idea of replacing steel as a raw material in an existing standard part with a specific type of plastic - which is a very creative and innovative measure that decisively increases the resistance of that standard part and a patent application was filed for this innovation too.

At the AMS fair in Stuttgart, the rotary table division could present an Industry 4.0 solution for rotary tables for the first time, under the project name "Semantic Study 4.0". This prototype, a rotary table that "thinks and learns", is an important milestone and represents a significant step in the shaping of our digital future. Various sensors that are integrated in the rotary table collect operating and load data. The customer is thus not only timely informed about any improper operating conditions but also, and at the same time, about which measures must be taken and settings made at the rotary table to prevent possible disturbances or damage in advance. The goal is: flawless production processes without any downtimes.

As the L.APPLE company with the greatest international footprint, FIBRO has not only made significant investments at their German locations but also at their subsidiaries. In the USA, they established a modern logistics center. Product programs were extended and the stocks of products were increased in the USA, Shanghai, and India. Furthermore, FIBRO India invested in new machinery and plants to increase their production capacities. With the acquisition of a neighboring property, they provided the conditions for a further expansion option in India.

AMB + MOTEK 2016: Great customer interest and excellent contacts

Tradition and progress,

much more can be said

about the two exhibitions

that took place in the fall,

AMB and MOTEK. A total

of more than 2,500 exhibi

at the two trade fairs and attracted the impressive

number of 125,000 visitors from the industry with their

specific product and service portfolios.

Our presentations at the AMB fair were under the

motto of "Industry 4.0". The core of the 4.0 solu

tion is the smart data evaluation feature that helps

detect disturbances before they occur. In addition, it

provides an opportunity to optimize processes, save

costs, and increase productivity at the same time.

Many visitors informed themselves about this

with our machine tool customers, while enjoying a

cup of espresso or cappuccino, and make some new

promising contacts.

With our prototype of the industry 4.0 rotary table, we

managed to be nominated one of the top three enter

prises for the AMB fair award 2016 at the first go.

At the MOTEK fair, we displayed all our RotoMotion

products - and the highlight was the new highly ef

ficient ring rotary table FIBROTOR RT.0750. We were

very happy about the number of visitors at our stand

and the valuable conversations, but especially about

the great number of contacts with new customers

and sales leads.

For 2017 too, there are many interesting trade fairs on

FIBRO's exhibition schedule worldwide. The most im

Euroblech in Hannover

The Euroblech in Hannover is the internationally

leading and thus most important fair in the area of

standard parts taking place every other year. In eight

exhibition halls, novelties for innovative production

processes in this era of advancing digitalization were

presented to the international visitors. The focus was

always on the issues of increasing cost efficiency,

flexibility, and process stability. 1,550 exhibitors from

40 countries presented themselves to an interested

public from the sheet metal working industry.

This challenge is an incentive for the standard parts

industry too - to present novelties in addition to

very successful with our new "Resilient Thrust Piece

ly the highlight of the fair and was duly celebrated

too.

Besides, we could present a world-wide novelty: the

BOLT-LOCK quick-change system is an advance

Lower costs, products that re

quire less maintenance, and

a longer service life - our cus

tomers' requirements with re

spect to standard parts have

increased. Therefore, FIBRO

constantly researches options

for an optimization of their pro

ducts. Especially if users ask for

places in tools, fixtures, or machines. This part

that is used in versatile applications could meet

the increasing requirements to a limited extent

only. Under diagonal stress, it often broke and

resulted in severe damage within the tools.

Therefore, a project team was established to

optimize this product. Matthias Ehrenfried,

Stefan Engelhardt, Steffen Leist and Mar

tin Martini discussed different solutions

within the team and carried out tests

with various coatings and materials.

The result was the "Resilient Thrust

Piece 2470.20". A very special innova-

tion in the tool and mechanical engineering in

dustry. For the first time, a component was built from

thermoplastic high-performance plastic with metallic

additives instead of hardened steel.

requirements with respect to wear resistance and

lateral stress. The service life was clearly increased

through this and the maintenance intervals were re

duced accordingly. Moreover, possible consequen

tial damage within the tools through breaking spring

bolts could be clearly minimized. Another advantage

is that it allows for applications with diagonal stress

loads of up to 15°without any problems.

For our customers, this new model means a signifi

cant increase in benefits. Existing thrust

pieces can be replaced without any re

fitting work at short notice.

The high degree of innovation was alrea

dy recognized by the awarding of a renow

ned prize: During the EuroBlech 2016 fair in

Hannover, the industry magazines Blechnet

and MM MaschinenMarkt awarded the most

innovative exhibits at the fair with the EuroB

lech Award. In the category of stamping tech

nology, FIBRO was able to successfully compe

te with their competitors, Pass Stanztechnik and

Trumpf, with their newly developed "Resilient Thru-

st Piece 2470.20".

A great success for the entire team and for all who

were involved in the project. This new thrust piece

also sparked the interest of our customers. Three

major OEMs have been testing this new product in

practice and are impressed with its improved fea

tures!

Great thanks to the team and congratulations on this

award!

New product - FIBROTOR RT.0750

otary table for e in high-performance

automation applications

Modern and highly efficient assembly lines in the au

tomotive, electronics, and consumer goods indust

ry require precise, process capable and at the same

time economical drive components that offer much

room for creative system concepts.

FIBRO's response to these customer requirements is

the new ring rotary table FIBROTOR RT.0750.

This FIBRO novelty features a sophisticated bearing

design which doubles the maximum tilt moment and

triples the allowed load without an increase in the

costs for the rotary table. With the RT.0750 model

(inside diameter of 440mm), the maximum values al

lowed for the axial force are 5,000N, 8,000N for the

radial force and 2,250Nm for the tilt moment. With

applications that do not fully utilize these maximum

values, its robust bearing still pays off in the form of a

prolonged service life. The rated service life is 20,000

hours MTTF (Mean Time to Failure).

High dynamic and precision

In addition, FIBROTOR RT.0750 features short cycle

times, smooth acceleration, and high part precision

of +/-12 seconds of arc. Even in the basic version,

the ring rotary table features a sealed table top (total

height 95mm) and can either be equipped directly or

fit with an additional table top. Like all proven and

tested FIBROTOR rotary tables with defined inde

xing, the RT.0750 also uses a robust and efficient cam

drive whose curve geometry was optimized based on

the energy saving law. As a result, the RT.0750's pow

er consumption is about 20% lower than that of cus

tomary cam drives. As an option, the ring rotary table

can be supplied with FIBRO frequency converters

from SEW or Siemens. These already include work

flows for a clockwise, counter-clockwise or pendu

lum operation, for a smooth start, for rapid and creep

speed, and cycle-time optimization. And last but not

least, a three-phase brake motor control minimizes

the wear of the brakes. This attractively priced ring

rotary table will be available as of April 2017 with 11

indexing options, from 4 to 36, or as an NC rotary

table with flexible indexing, FIBROTOR RT.NC.0750.

The sales and development teams are convinced that

they will be successful on the market with this new

product.

New machine for the rotary table production

Why use several machines if there is one machine

that does it all?

Combining turning and milling operations in one ma

chine of the make WFL significantly increases the ef

ficiency of the rotary table production.

In October 2016, we commissioned a new machining

center from the Austrian machine manufacturer WFL,

as a replacement for a turning and a milling machine.

This machining center allows us to carry out turning,

milling, and drilling operations on one machine. We

have achieved a clear reduction of the processing

times and increase in flexibility. According to Harald

Werner, head of our rotary table production at the

Weinsberg site, the parallel machining processes, by

omitting setup times, have resulted in a 50% reduc

tion of the processing times.

The tool magazine holds up to 80 machining tools.

On this machine, we produce oil distributors, table

tops, dampers, etc. for all rotary table product groups.

In addition to the purchase of the WFL machine, we

had our Bohle milling machine overhauled, mecha

nically and electrically. By integrating a new NC ta

ble with a zero point clamping system and a pallet

changer system we were able to clearly reduce the

setup and alignment times as this setup can be done

in parallel now.

These novelties stand for a consequent development

towards faster delivery times which helps us to fulfill

our customer requirements even better.

number of 125,000 visitors from the industry with their

specific product and service portfolios.

Our presentations at the AMB fair were under the

motto of "Industry 4.0". The core of the 4.0 solu

tion is the smart data evaluation feature that helps

detect disturbances before they occur. In addition, it

provides an opportunity to optimize processes, save

costs, and increase productivity at the same time.

Many visitors informed themselves about this

Attractive Motek exhibition stand

novelty. We could also maintain our good relations

with our machine tool customers, while enjoying a

cup of espresso or cappuccino, and make some new

promising contacts.

The most im

portant and largest fairs in Germany will be the EMO

in Hannover and the MOTEK in Stuttgart!

"Keep your back straight, press your shoulder blades together, and breathe deeply into your stomach" - demands

Kirsten Heck to motivate the participants of her back therapy training course that takes place every Tuesday in

Hochhausen. In two groups, the participants learn how to release tensions and strengthen their muscles. Always

good humored, Kirsten Heck instructs the FIBRO and FLT employees to carry out the most different exercises

and maybe to try one exercise or the other at home too.

16th edition
