DIII CAMP DIRECTOR & RLAC FOUNDER/PRESIDENT
BOB DEGEMMIS
Bob is the Founder and President of the Red Line Athletic Club, which fields
seasonal programs for youth through senior amateur athletes in hockey, soccer and
lacrosse. Essentially, the RLAC is like an Athletic Department not affiliated with a
school. All of the RLAC Youth Sports are Amateur Athletic Union Members.
The DIII Summer Camp is a Red Line Athletic Club event open to all comers of
youth playing age, with the purpose of highlighting the benefits of playing multiple
sports, playing some sports outdoors and playing on a seasonal basis.

AS A YOUTH, SCHOLASTIC & COLLEGIATE ATHLETE –
Bob grew up in Glastonbury, CT, outside of Hartford. He was introduced to numerous sports as a child
including gymnastics, swimming, golf, running, basketball, baseball and football. Eventually, he gravitated
towards “goal sports” and from 6th grade through high school, Bob focused on hockey and soccer. After high
school Bob walked onto the Big East Villanova (NCAA DI) soccer squad as the 3rd goalkeeper. The following
year, he traded the boots to go back to hockey, and played 2 years of NCAA Hockey in the old ECAC South
and 1 year in the ACHA.
College athletics at an NCAA DI Institution was the first point at which Bob had to choose one
scholastic sport over the other. NCAA DIII athletes and non-NCAA athletes do not necessarily have to make
this choice.
Because of his experience as a scholastic athlete in Southern New England, and then in college, Bob is
an advocate of players continuing to play multiple sports on a seasonal basis if they prefer do so. He knows that
there are opportunities for those that seek them out at the NCAA DIII level or non-NCAA levels. Through
RLAC and its programs, Bob hopes to create more of these opportunities for amateur athletes of all ages.
As an adult, after college, Bob continues to play competitive and meaningful senior hockey and soccer
and also picked-up playing lacrosse as an adult.
ABOUT RED LINE ATHLETIC CLUB
The Red Line Athletic Club is an AAU Club that has a few distinguishing characteristics, many of
which replicate those of the schools and organizations that Bob played within as a student. Much of the Red
Line model and philosophy is based upon the New England Small College Athletic Conference Mission, Core
Values & Operating Principles.
1. RLAC focuses on 3 “goal” sports – hockey, soccer, lacrosse;
2. RLAC works hard to create opportunities for players entering these sports at varying ages;
3. RLAC adheres to a strict seasonal athletic calendar in order to maximize opportunities for students to
participate in more than one sport, to be involved in non-athletic activities, and to encourage proper
perspective on the role of athletics;
4. RLAC’s mission is social educational, physical education and personal betterment;
5. RLAC creates programming with the best uses of time and resources in mind;
6. RLAC programs are for amateur athletes cradle-to-grave;
7. RLAC is committed to competition, effort, teamwork, team accomplishments and playing with dignity
regardless of outcomes.
ABOUT THE DIII NAME
DIII refers to “NCAA DIII” which is for non-scholarship athletes and adheres to seasonal play. DIII also refers
to the “DeGemmis 3” or the 3 sports we focus on – hockey, soccer & lacrosse.
