Crane operation is allowed for under wind speeds shown in capacity charts. Windwardload area should nor exceed the value calculated by the formula:

Taking into account wind factor

Windward area = 1.2 × load - 0.002 × load2

For loads exceeding 300 t, windward load area = 180 m2

If suspended ballast calculated is less than the tray weight (<25.2t),the lifting operation should be performed under operating modewithout suspended ballast.

The value of the suspended ballast calculated by the above mentioned method shouldbe entered into the LMI device through three-digit block of inlet switches on the derrick console. Entry data should correspond to the actual weight of the suspended ballast,

Operating modes with suspended ballast

Prior to each lifting operation it is necessary to determine suspended ballast needed for the load being lifted. For this, numeric values C1 and C 2 are shown in the relevant capacity

Suspended ballast needed B = C1 + C2 × load weight

Doing this, total weight of the load including weights of hook block, slinging and/or load taking devices is put into equation. One should take into account the sign of values C1 and
