Education in the United States

Introduction

What is wrong with education in the United States? Where do I start there are plenty of

problems in our education system. American education is rife with problems. We can start with

the gaping differences between white students and students of colors. Education is a basic

human right. Yet those who need education the most-children living in poverty- are the least

likely to attend school. One of the problems is that U.S students attend crowded and crumbling

schools with over-burdened teachers and non-existent enrichment programs. Another problem is

that 55% of young people aged between 15 and 19 years do not complete junior high school due

to limited educate opportunities. Also the problem is that the education system is compromised

or sabotaged by the education lobbies. Funds are limited to schools of the poor and people of

color. Children are force to go to poor equipped schools because they live within the school

district.

Does every individual have a right to access to education? Explain why or why not.

In a real world everyone support to have the right of access to education, but sense we are

talking about this world let’s discuss who society think should have the right of access to

education. “Other argue that because people differ greatly in their capabilities and aptitudes, not

everyone is equally capable of benefiting from an education. In this view, to equalize education

access is to waste resource.”(Theodolous& Kofinis, 2012) From the beginning of time access to

education has been a big problem for many people, especially for the poor people, people of

color, and women. Long time age only the high .in society had access to education because they

feel that it was wasted on the lower class of people in their society. Unfortunately, many barriers

persist, preventing individuals from realizing their full potential and contributing meaningfully to

society. The barriers may be physical, mental, social or financial and because of the barriers

many in society believe that education will be wasted on the people.

Do you think every individual has the right to the kind of education (i.e. academic versus

vocational) explain why?

Study at a University if you’re academic, or if you vocational skills, do an apprenticeship

instead. ”The former studied academic subjects and transferred to a university rom more of the

same. That letter trained in what has long been called vocational education, then headed straight

for the workforce.”( Lane, 2001). Although our society welcomes structure and the intensity

focus on college, we should like to see more corporate trade and technical training in addition to

their heavy college- prep emphasis. But why are our children been made to choose. The

consequences in being train for a job and not educated has brought our society many problem.

The education system has deluded us into believing we can have one or the other but not both

while in reality both is needed. An example of this I wash cars but I want to own this carwash

how do I do that without an education just washing cars is not to get me the own ship of the lot,

but trainee and education will. To answer your question yes I do feel that every individual has

the right to the same kind of education.

Who should be responsible for providing education, the federal or local government, or

individual citizen? Explain why

“The United States Commissioner of Education should see the opportunity for greater

influence and usefulness as the head of a state university then as head of the Federal

Bureau of Education is entirely consistent with allegiance in the United States to the

principle of local responsibility in education.”( Lane, 1929). I feel that is the

responsibility of all to provide education for our children. For one thing we pay taxes to

state and local government to provide service such as police protection, education,

highway building, and welfare program. We should not sit by and bicker about whose

responsibility it is to pay for our children education we should have each other’s back in

this one.

In your opinion, what needs to be done currently to improve our education system?

For one we need a higher standard in education, we also need access to free

education. There are standard needed to define what may or may not pass school

academic programs. Each school teacher needs to commit him or herself to provide all

children an equal and beneficial education. They should also know how to teach and want

to teach. To currently improve our education system we need better teachers in our

elementary school because this is where the knowledge begins.
