Dear all,

On behalf of all my colleagues, thank you for the solidarity and support given in

our campaign for equality and justice in SOAS. We also would like to share with

you our joy that overwhelms us right now that we have won the first battle towards

equality and justice because we have won improved holidays, sick pay and pensions

for all SOAS ISS staff.

As you know we struck for three days last month and we were preparing further

industrial action when ISS made the new offer and we voted to accept a deal giving

us and this are the comparisons between the old and new contract.:

We’re very happy to be closer to our demands but our struggle for equality and

justice continues, and we won’t stop until to see a SOAS as one workforce and as

one workplace for all.

We’ve shown how strong we are, if we are organised and stand together for our

rights and if we continue fighting with faith and confidence there is nothing that

we can overcome or obstacles that we cannot beat.

Thanks for your unconditional support you all have become our friends and family

in our struggle for equality and justice and your solidarity was so important it

helped us challenge SOAS and ISS.

We are now building a new SOAS, we are not longer the vulnerable workers, we

have shown that a change is possible not as a promise or a dream if not as a reality.

Now we have hope, confidence and faith and we are no longer alone you are with

us and together we are going to achieve what we all want a SOAS with equality and

justice for all.

Finally god bless us all and fill us with courage and strength to continue in our fight.

“VIVA SOAS AS A ONE COMMUNITY”

Today, tomorrow and alwaysYours sincerely,

Pension Old contract: contributions, 1% employer, 0.8% employee and 0.2 government= 2%

New contract: contributions, 4% employer, 3% employee = 7%. (optional)

HolidaysOld contract: 20 days + 8 bank holidays = 28 days

New contract: up to 27 days + 8 bank holidays = 35 days

Sick PayOld contract: statutory sick pay = nothing during the first 3 days of sickness, £ 87,60 per

week thereafter.

But most workers did not even qualify for this as they do not meet the income threshold of £109 a week.

New Contract: Sick pay from day one and applies to everyone, no income threshold. Up to 26 weeks of sick pay.
