Dear Parents & Carers, NASS MARIMBA STUDENTS COMPETE IN BREAKTHRU Each year, the Sunshine Plaza runs a Music and Dance Competition for local schools.
Last Saturday, in the first weekend of heats, Mr Pead and 16 of his Extension Marimba Band Musicians performed 2 songs, which WOWED everyone.
However, to secure a position in the finals, we need ALL NASS students and families to vote for our school. (Two schools will compete in the 18 June grand finals - one will be selected by the judges and the other will be selected through public vote).
SO PLEASE GO AND VOTE FOR NASS MARIMBAS by:
1) Clicking on this link: VOTE NOW 2) View the video of their performance 3) Select the school name beneath the video 4) Enter your details 5) Click VOTE
Finalists from each heat will be announced on the Breakthru website on the Thursday following each heat, so it’s important for us all to vote before then please! TERM 3 DANCE FEVER PROGRAM We are absolutely delighted to have the DF team returning to NASS every Monday of Term 3, to run their 10-week Dance Program once again.
Lessons will commence on the first day of term (Monday 11 July) and run each week, for the whole term.
We have our Dance Extravaganza planned for the students to showcase their Dance skills, on Friday 9 Sept (5:30-8:00pm), so mark that date into your diaries.
ALSO, our Years 3-6 students have been invited to participate in the annual DF Interschool Dance Challenge, which will be held in Brisbane on Sunday 11 September. More details will follow to interested students, however this will be a wonderful occasion for our school community. (I have taken other schools to compete in this event in previous years and it is FANTASTIC!) EXTENDED PARADE (WED 15 JUNE) Please note that on Wed 15 June (the Week 10 parade, which will be the final parade for the term), our parade will commence at 2:15pm (instead of the usual 2:30pm) as we have an extended program due to performances by both our NASS Choir and NASS Concert Band. Please join us for these wonderful celebrations of our student’s learning!

TOYS , CARDS & E-DEVICES AT SCHOOL Parents are asked not to allow their children to bring toys, cards or valuables to school, at any time. Unfortunately, they cause too many conflicts and too much distress when things go wrong and there really is no reason for them to be at school.
If children must bring phones, iPads, iPods or other electronic devices to school, they must hand them in to the office before school and collect them at 3pm. Any devices found during school hours, will be confiscated as once again, there is no reason for students to have these during school hours and they cause too much distress and conflict.
Many thanks for your assistance in ensuring these procedures are adhered to. WEEKS 7 & 8 BEHAVIOUR FOCUS This week and next week, our students will be learning about BEING A LEARNER IN ALL AREAS OF THE SCHOOL. We do this by:
Being on time to arrive at school and at class Being in the right place at the right time Following instructions straight away
Many thanks for your assistance in reinforcing these messages at home. Kind Regards,
Kelly
