7. Wise and Discerning Gen 41:1-43

We come today to the half way point in the story of

Joseph.

Next week is missions weekend, a very important date in our church calendar and

after that we will be looking towards Easter.

God willing, we will return to the story of Joseph in the fall.

We begin today with Joseph in prison.

He has suffered a great injustice.

His career has been ruined.

We saw that God gave a dream to the Cupbearer,

who was with him in prison, and Joseph interpreted

the dream.

The cupbearer would be pardoned for his offense,

he would be released from the prison and

and restored to his position next to the king.

Joseph says to the Cupbearer, “Remember me.”

We saw that the thief on the cross made the same appeal to Jesus. ‘Remember me, when

you come into your kingdom.’

Jesus was a better Savior to the thief than

the Cupbearer was to Joseph.

The chief cupbearer did not remember Joseph but forgot him (Gen 40:23)

‘After two whole years,’ (Gen 41:1)

Two years passed

Two years of being forgotten, passed over.

Two years of Joseph’s life in which nothing

significant happened.

No great achievement. No remarkable answers to

prayer. No great movement forward in the purpose

of God.

Two years of waiting.

Not easy, especially when you are in your late 20s

There will be times in your life when you just don’t

know what God is doing.

Times when you feel forgotten

7. 지혜와 명철 창세기 41: 1-43

오늘로 우리는 이제 요셉의 이야기의 중반에 접어들게

되었습니다.

- 다음 주는 우리 교회 연간 중요 행사중의

하나인 선교주일입니다. 이 다음에 우리는

부활 주일을 앞두게 됩니다.

- 하나님께서 허락하시는대로 우리는 요셉의

이야기를 가을에 계속해서 다룰까 합니다.

오늘도 요셉이 감옥에 갖혀 있는 이야기로 시작합니다.

- 그는 큰 불의를 겪었습니다.

- 종사하고 있던 일도 망쳤습니다.

우리는 그와 같이 갖혀 있던 술 맡은 자에게

하나님께서 주신 꿈과 요셉이 해몽한 것도 살펴

보았습니다.

- 술 맡은 자는 혐의를 벗게 될 것이고

- 풀려나서

- 왕을 측근에서 모시는 자리에 복직될 것이라는

것이었습니다.

요셉이 술 맡은 자에게 “생각해 줄 것”을 말했는데;

- 이것은 십자가 위의 강도가 예수님께

간청하기를‘예수여 당신의 나라에 임하실 때에 나를 기억하소서…’라고 말한 것도

알았습니다.

- 예수님은 그 강도에게 있어서 술 맡은 관원의

요셉에 대한 경우보다 더 나은 구세주

이셨습니다.

- ‘‘술 맡은 관원장이 요셉을 기억하지 못하고 그를 잊었더라.’(창 40:23)

‘만 이 년 후에,’ (창 41:1) - 이 년이 지났습니다.

- 잊혀 진 세월이 지나간 것입니다.

- 그 두 해는 동안 요셉의 인생에 별다른 일이

없었던 시절입니다.

크게 이룬 것이 없다는 것이지요. 기도에 대한 특별한

응답도 없었구요. 하나님의 목적을 향한 큰 진전 또한

없었던 시간입니다.

- 2 년간의 기다림

- 특별히 20 대 후반의 나이에는 더욱 더 쉽지

않았을 것입니다.

우리의 삶 가운데에도 하나님께서 무엇을 하고 계신

지 알 수 없는 때가 있는 것입니다.

- 잊혀진 것만 같은 시간.

- 미래의 방향이 전혀 보이지 않는 그런 시간.

Times when you do not know your future direction.

Times when, if someone asked you what

God was doing in your life, you would have

to say, ‘I really don’t know.’

When we read the story of Joseph, we can see how

God was at work because we know the end of the

story.

But for Joseph in prison there so many unanswered

questions.

Why was I beaten up by my brothers and carted off to Egypt?

Why have I suffered this injustice, been falsely accused and cut off in the prime of

my career?

Why has the Cupbearer forgotten me? I spoke the Word of God to him and the least

he could is to remember me.

If I had been in Joseph’s shoes, I would have been

asking these questions, and I expect you would as

well.

And for years there was no answer.

Today we come to the turning point of the story,

where we begin to see the wider purpose of God in

the life of Joseph.

Again I want to offer three cameos of the players in

this story:

The Troubled Leader,

The Wise Counselor, and

The Forgetful Servant

1. The Troubled Leader (Gen 41:1-8)

‘his [Pharaoh’s] spirit was troubled, (v8).

One night Pharaoh had a dream.

In the dream, he saw seven fat cows.

Healthy animals feeding on the long grass beside the river Nile.

It was a beautiful sight.

But then in this dream, Pharaoh saw seven scrawny

and ugly cows. They were not normal cows. In fact

Pharaoh had never seen cows like these before

(v19).

These ugly creatures came out of the Nile.

- 누가 하나님께서 당신의 삶가운데 어떤 역사를

하고 계시냐고 묻기라도 한다면 ‘잘

모르겠다.’고 밖에 답할 수 없는 그런 기간.

요셉의 이야기 속에서 우리는 그 결말을 알기 때문에

하나님께서 모든 것을 이루신 방법을 알 수 있습니다.

그러나 감옥에 갇혀 있는 요셉에게는 해결되지 않은

많은 의문이 남아 있었습니다.

- 형들은 왜 나를 매질했으며 이집트로 팔려

오게 만들었는가?

- 불의를 당해 거짓 혐의를 받고 하고 있던

일에서마저 떨려나게 되었는가?

- 왜 그 술 맡은 관원은 나를 잊었을까? 그에게

하나님의 말씀을 전했는데 적어도 나를

기억했어야 되는 것 아닐까?

제가 만일 요셉의 입장에 있었다면 저도 이런

의문들을 가졌을 것이고 여러분들도 마찬가지셨을

것으로 압니다.

- 그리고 몇 해가 지나도록 아무런 응답이

없습니다.

오늘 우리는 이 이야기의 전환점을 맞게 되겠는데

우리는 하나님의 요셉의 인생에 대한 더 광범위한

목적을 보기 시작하게 될 것입니다.

오늘 저는 이 이야기에 등장하는 세 명의 까메오에

대하여 말씀을 나눌까합니다.

- 번민하는 지도자

- 현명한 조언자

- 건망증 있는 신하

1. 번민하는 지도자 (창 41:1-8) ‘그(바로)의 마음이 번민하여…’ (8 절) 어느 날 밤 바로가 꿈을 꾸었습니다.

- 꿈 속에서 살 진 일곱 암소를 보았습니다.

- 건강한 가축이 강가에 올라와 갈밭에서 뜯어

먹습니다.

- 아름다운 광경이었습니다.

그런데 같은 꿈 속에서 바로는 흉하고 파리한 일곱

암소를 보았습니다. 정상적인 소가 아니었습니다.

사실 한번도 보지 못한 그런 소였습니다. (19 절)

- 이 흉한 소들은 나일 강가에서 올라온

것이었습니다.

- 이 흉한 소들이 등장할 때 우리는 “죠스”

영화의 배경 음악이 필요하다고 느낄 정도로

이 보기 흉한 소들이 물에서 나와 올라온

것입니다.

It feels like you would need the ‘jaws’ music to accompany these ugly distorted,

threatening beasts coming out of the water

They stood beside the healthy cows. And

then they ate them!

Everything beautiful and healthy was gone.

It had all been swallowed up by what was distorted and ugly,

And only what was ugly and distorted remained.

Then Pharaoh woke up, (v4)

‘What was all that about?!’

Then Pharaoh fell asleep and dreamed a second

time (v5)

This time, his dream was about seven fat

ears of grain.

They were swallowed up by seven scrawny ears of grain that looked as if they had been

blighted by the wind.

We read

And Pharaoh awoke, and behold, it was a

dream.

So in the morning his spirit was troubled,

(Gen 41:7, 8)

Think about the weight of responsibility that was on

this man’s shoulders.

People look to him for leadership. He is a public servant, and the good of many hangs

on the wisdom of his decisions.

He is only a man, but he has been thrust into

this position.

How do you carry that kind of responsibility?

Some of you will have come here today feeling the

weight and burden of leadership that has been

placed on you.

You feel a responsibility for your children, and for their future.

You have a position in business, education or in ministry, where the lives of others will

be significantly affected by the decisions

you make.

- 그것들은 살진 암소와 함께 강가에

서있었습니다. 그것들이 살진 암소를 먹어

버립니다.

모든 아름답고 살진 암소가 없어졌습니다.

- 흉하고 파리한 소가 모두 먹어치운 것입니다.

- 그리고 흉하고 파리한 것들만 남았습니다.

그리고 바로가 꿈에서 깹니다. (4 절)

- 이 무슨 꿈이란 말인가?

그리고 바로는 다시 잠이 들고 두 번째 꿈을 꿉니다.

(5 절)

- 이번에는 한 줄기에 무성하고 충실한 일곱

이삭에 관한 꿈이었습니다.

- 가는 일곱 이삭이 무성하고 충실한 일곱

이삭을 마치 바람이 망쳐 놓은 것 같이

삼켜버린 것입니다.

말씀을 보면;

‘그 가는 일곱 이삭이 무성하고 충실한 일곱 이삭을 삼킨지라 바로가 깬즉 꿈이라. 아침에 그의 마음이 번민하여…’ (창 41: 7-8 절) 이 바로의 어깨에 얹쳐 있을 막중한 책임의 무게를

생각해 보시기 바랍니다.

- 사람들은 그에게서 지도력을 기대합니다. 그는

공복(公僕)입니다. 그리고 많은 일의 결말이

그의 지혜로운 결정에 달려 있습니다.

- 혼자 감당해야 했고 그 책임을 맡아 가지고

있습니다.

- 여러분들은 이런 막중한 책임을 감당하실 수

있겠습니까?

이 자리에 계신 성도님들 중에도 밑겨진 책임의

무게와 지고 있는 짐을 가득 느끼며 앉아 계신 분들이

계시는 것으로 압니다.

- 자녀들과 그들의 미래에 대한 책임을 갖고

계십니다.

- 사업 가운데, 교육자나 목회자로서의 위치에서

자기가 내리는 결정이 많은 사람들의 인생에

막대한 영향을 끼치는 그런 위치에 계십니다.

- 결정한 것을 내려 보내야 합니다. 이런 책임은

종종 외로움으로 다가오기도 합니다.

You have to make the calls. And there is a loneliness that often comes with that kind of

responsibility.

Now Pharaoh is a leader and he has these troubling

dreams.

He feels sure that there is some message in

them, but

he does not know what it is and nobody in the palace can tell him.

He calls in the pundits, and for once they are silent :

Pharaoh called for all the magicians of Egypt and all its wise men.

He told them his dreams, but there was none who could interpret them to Pharaoh,

(v8).

That was unusual! Calvin says God must have shut

their mouths!

The pundits always have something to say.

They have some spin on every story, but here, nobody has anything to offer.

That would have got Pharaoh really worried!

One thing we should take from this is a reminder to

pray for those who carry the weight and burden of

public life.

Those who serve the community as elected

officials.

The leaders on whose wisdom, the good of many people will depend.

We live in a culture that has become cynical about

leaders.

And it is good to remember that God calls us to pray for our leaders who carry the

burden on complex decisions, (1 Tim2).

If like Pharaoh they do not know or worship the living God, we should pray for them all

the more.

Then we should pray that God will raise up wise

and godly people to give leadership in all levels of

public life.

Pray for those in our congregation who

serve in this way.

Encourage them. Help them. Pray for others to join them

자 이런 위치에 있는 지도자로서 바로가 이 꿈들로

인하여 번민을 하고 있습니다.

- 그 꿈 안에 어떤 계시의 내용이 확실히 있다는

것은 알겠는데

- 그 내용이 무엇인지 그리고 궁안에 있는

누구도 그것을 해석해 줄 수 있는 사람이 없는

것입니다.

그가 전문가들을 불러 보지만 단번에 그들은 입을

다물고 맙니다.

- 바로가 ‘사람을 보내어 애굽의 점술가와 현인들을 모두 불러

- 그들에게 그의 꿈을 말하였으나 그것을 바로에게 해석하는 자가 없었더라.’ (8 절)

이상한 일이었습니다! 칼빈 선생의 말대로 하나님께서

그들의 입을 막으신 것 같습니다!

- 그런 사람들은 언제나 무슨 답변을 꺼집어

냅니다.

- 그들은 모든 이야기를 둘러대는 재주가 있는

사람들인데 어쩐 일인지 이 경우에는 아무

것도 하지 못합니다.

- 그래서 아마 바로가 더 염려를 하게 되었는 지

모르겠습니다!

한 가지 여기에서 공적인 무게와 짐을 지고 있는

분들에게 한 말씀 드리자면 기도하실 수 있기를

바랍니다.

- 선거를 통하여 공직에 올라 있는 분들

말입니다.

- 많은 사람들의 복지가 갖고 있는 지혜에 달려

있는 지도자들 말씀입니다.

우리는 지도자들에 대하여 부정적이고 회의적인 그런

문화 속에서 살고 있습니다.

- 그리고 복잡다난한 결정에 대한 부담을 갖고

살아가는 우리의 지도자들을 위하여

하나님께서 우리에게 기도할 것을 원하고

계신다는 것을 기억해야 할 것입니다. (딤전 2)

- 만일 바로와 같은 사람이 살아계신 하나님을

모른다거나 경배하지 않는다면 우리는 그들을

위하여 더욱 더 기도해야 할 것입니다.

그리고 우리는 하나님께 현명하고 경건한 사람들을

모든 공직의 자리에 세워 주실 것을 간구해야 할

것입니다.

- 이런 자리에 있는 우리 교인들을 위하여

기도하시기 바랍니다.

- 그들을 격려하고 협력하시고 다른 분들도

동참하기를 기도하시기 바랍니다.

1. The Troubled Leader.

2. The Wise Counselor (v14-56 )

The Cupbearer sees the distress of the king.

Nobody can interpret his dream.

Then the Cupbearer remembers.

He is embarrassed that he has not thought about this before.

But now he blurts out his story to the troubled king.

The chief cupbearer said to Pharaoh,

“I remember my offenses today,” (Gen

41:9).

‘Pharaoh, there was a time when I was in the same

position as you.

It was two years ago, back when I was in the prison because of my offenses…

I had a dream, and I had no idea what it meant.

But there was a man there who told me, and

what he said came true.

This was good news for the troubled king. He

sends for Joseph, and

Suddenly everything changes in Joseph’s life.

He is called from the prison, and brought to the palace.

He shaves, changes his clothes and is

ushered in to the presence of the king.

From the prison to the palace in the twinkling of an

eye!

it was an amazing transformation in a single day.

The troubled king tells his dream to Joseph, and

Joseph gives the interpretation:

The two dreams have one meaning (v25)

The meaning of the thin cows eating the fat cows, (and the thin ears consuming the fat

ears) is that

seven years of plenty will be followed by seven years of famine.

Since this is going to happen, Joseph counsels

Pharaoh to appoint someone who will implement a

strategy of

saving a fifth of the harvest during the years

of plenty so that

1. 번민하는 지도자

2. 현명한 조언자 (14-56 절) 술 맡은 관원이 왕의 고충을 발견합니다.

- 아무도 그의 꿈을 해몽할 수 없었습니다.

- 그제야 술 맡은 관원이 기억을 합니다.

- 미리 일찍 생각해 내지 못한 것을 수치스럽게

생각합니다.

그러나 이제 자신의 이야기를 번민하고 있는 왕에게

털어 놓습니다.

‘술 맡은 관원장이 바로에게 말하여 이르되 내가 오늘 내 죄를 기억하나이다.’ (9 절) ‘왕이시여, 저도 전하와 똑같은 경우를 겪었습니다.

- 제가 전하께 죄를 지어 감옥에 갖혀 있던 2 년

전의 일이었습니다.

- 제가 꿈을 꾸었는데 그 의미를 전혀 알 수

없었습니다.

- 그런데 제게 그 꿈을 해몽해 준 사람이

있었는데 그 꿈이 실현되었던 것입니다.’

번민하고 있던 왕에게 이것은 희소식이 아닐 수

없었습니다. 요셉을 불러오게 합니다.

- 갑자기 요셉의 인생이 바뀝니다.

- 감옥에서 불려나가 왕궁에 들게 된 것입니다.

- 면도를 하고 새 옷으로 갈아입고 왕의 앞으로

인도되어 갑니다.

눈 깜짝할 사이에 감옥에서 궁전으로!

단 하루 만에 이루어진 놀라운 변화가 아닐 수 없는

것입니다.

번민에 빠져 있던 왕은 요셉에게 그의 꿈이야기를

들려 주고 요셉이 그 해석을 합니다.

- 그 두 가지의 꿈은 하나입니다. (25 절)

- 흉하고 파리한 소가 아름답고 살진 소를

먹었다는 것은 (가는 일곱 이삭이 무성하고

충실한 일곱 이삭을 삼킨 것)

- 일곱 해의 큰 풍년이 있은 뒤 일곱 해의 큰

훙년이 든다는 의미입니다.

이런 일이 있을 것이니 요셉이 바로에게 새로운

정책을 시행할 사람을 선임하라고 권고하게 됩니다.

- 애굽 땅의 오분의 일을 거두게 하여

- 흉년을 대비한 양식을 공급할 수 있도록

하라는 제안을 한 것입니다.

there will an adequate supply of food during the years of famine.

Discerning and Wise (v33, 39)

The keys words here are, ‘discerning’ and ‘wise.’

They come twice in these verses.

v33, Joseph says to Pharaoh, ‘Let Pharaoh

select a discerning and wise man, and set

him over the land of Egypt.

v39, Pharaoh says to Joseph, Since God has shown you all this, there is none so

discerning and wise as you are.

What does it mean to be discerning and wise?

In this story, it means two things.

1. Restrain indulgence in times of plenty

In years of plenty it is easy to become extravagant and wasteful.

Joseph says, we need to make sure that does

not happen.

Don’t waste what you have been given.

2. Take reasonable measures to provide for the

future

Joseph discerns that this will mean putting a fifth of the harvest in store for seven years.

He sets out a plan as to where these savings

are to be made and how this stewardship is

to be exercised.

This is remarkable wisdom from a man who was

only 30 years old!

George Lawson asks the question, ‘How does this

policy of Joseph to store up the food relate to the

words of Jesus, when He says

Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on

earth, where moth and rust destroy band

where thieves break in and steal, (Matt

6:19).

‘This rule is not intended to prohibit us from providing in time of plenty for a time of

scarcity as far as it can be done without

neglecting the necessary duties of charity

and piety according to our circumstances.’

명철하고 지혜있는 자 (33, 39 절) 키가 되는 단어는 ‘명철’과 ‘치혜’입니다.

이 두 단어는 말씀가운데 두 번 사용되고 있습니다.

- 33 절 (요셉이 바로에게 하는 보고합니다.)

‘이제 바로께서는 명철하고 지혜 있는 사람을 택하여 애굽 땅을 다스리게 하시고…’

- 39 절 (바로가 요셉에게 명합니다.)

‘하나님이 이 모든 것을 네게 보이셨으니 너와 같이 명철하고 지혜 있는 자가 없도다.’

명철하고 지혜있다는 의미가 무엇일까요? 여러분!

- 이 이야기 속에서 두 가지 의미를 보여주고

있습니다.

가) 풍족 속의 절약

- 풍족할 때 흥청망청하기는 쉽습니다.

- 요셉은 그런 일이 있어서는 안된다는 것을

말하는 것입니다.

- 허비하지 말라는 것이지요.

나) 미래를 위한 적절한 조치

- 요셉은 7 년동안 수확물의 1/5 을 비축해야

한다는 것을 생각해 냅니다.

- 그는 어디에서 무엇이 어떻게 저축을 해야하며

어떻게 맡아 지켜야 할 것인가에 대한 계획을

전개해 냅니다.

30 세 밖에 되지 않은 약관의 청년의 훌륭한 지혜가

아닐 수 없습니다.

George Lawson 이 이런 질문을 합니다. “요셉의 이

식량 확보 정책과 예수님께서‘너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말라 거기는 좀과 동록이 해하며 도둑이 구멍을 뚫고 도둑질하느니라(마 6:19)’라고

하신 말씀과 어떤 관련이 있겠는가?’라고 하면서,

“이 원칙은 우리가 풍족한 때 궁핍케 될 때를 위하여

우리의 형편에 맞춰 해야 할 헌금과 자선의무를 잊지

않고 할 수 있는 최선의 기부행위까지도 금하기 위한

의도로 만든 것은 아니라는 것입니다.” (George

Lawson)

우리의 첫 의무는 하나님께 드리는 헌물과 다른

사람들을 위하여 관대하게 하는 자선에 있는 것입니다.

- 이렇게 하고 난 다음에 우리는 미래를 위하여

남은 것에서 얼마간 저축을 해야할 것입니다.

- 저축하는 것이 처음 해야 할 일이 아니라는

것입니다.

- 자선과 헌금의 의무를 다한 다음에 해야

한다는 것입니다.

Our first duty is to be faithful in our giving to God

(piety) and generous in our giving to others

(charity).

When we have done that, we should save something from what we have left for the

future.

Saving is not the first thing.

It comes after our duties of piety and charity.

Always remember that there are two ways to

dishonor God with your money.

One is to spend what you should have given: the other is to save what you should

have given.

And saving holds the more subtle temptation. Because if you are a saver, it is

easy to feel righteous about what you are

doing.

You need to hear this word of Jesus. Do not

lay up for yourselves treasures on earth!

And if you are a spender, hear the wisdom of

Joseph:

Save during the years of plenty so that you will have enough when the times of scarcity

come.

We have looked at Joseph’s counsel.

Restrain indulgence in times of plenty.

Take reasonable measures to provide for the

future.

Now lets ask an even more important question

What made Joseph such a wise and discerning

counselor?

Three answers:

i. The Wise Counselor Speaks the Word of God It is very striking in this chapter, that God is not

spoken of a single time in the first 15 verses.

You have a troubled king, facing the relentless pressure of overwhelming

responsibility

You have the pundits pouring over the mysteries of life and the disturbing prospects

of the dream.

All these people! All this anxiety! But the name of God is not even spoken, and for one

물질을 가지고 하나님을 불미스럽게 하는 것에는 두

가지가 있다는 것을 늘 기억하시기 바랍니다.

- 그 하나는 드릴 것을 쓰지 말라는 것입니다.

다른 하나는 드려야 할 것을 저축하지 말라는

것입니다.

- 그리고 저축하는 것이 더 알아차리기 어려운

시험이 되는 것입니다. 왜냐하면 저축을 잘

하는 사람에게 저축은 늘 의로운 것으로

비춰지기 때문입니다.

- 예수님의 말씀을 기억하시기 바랍니다.

‘너희를 위하여 보물을 땅에 쌓아 두지 말라.’

소비를 좋아하는 분이시라면 요셉의 지혜의 말을

기억하시기 바랍니다.

- 풍족할 때 비축하여 흉년에 대비하시기

바랍니다.

우리는 요셉의 조언을 살펴 보았습니다.

- 풍족할 때 흥청망청하지 말라.

- 미래를 위하여 적절한 조치를 취하라.

이제 좀 더 중요한 질문을 생각해 보기로 하십시다.

무엇이 요셉으로 하여금 그토록 지혜롭고 명철한 조언자가 될 수 있게 하였는가? 세 가지를 생각해 볼 수 있겠습니다.

가. 현명한 조언자는 하나님의 말씀을 대언합니다.

이 41 장에서 특이한 것은 첫 15 절에 이르기까지

하나님께서 한 마디 말씀도 하지 않고 계신다는

것입니다.

- 감당하기 어려운 책임감으로 쉴 새없는

스트레스를 받고 있는 번민 가운데 있는 왕이

있습니다.

- 인생의 문제와 꿈이 예시하고 있는 것에

대하여 끊임없이 아는체 하는 신하들이

있습니다.

- 그 모든 사람들! 그리고 모든 염려! 그러나

하나님의 이름은 말하는 자는 하나도 없고, 또

한 가지 이유는: 이 궁전 안에 하나님과

동행하는 자가 아무도 없다는 사실.

good reason: No-one in the palace is

walking with God.

But then Joseph is called, and when he arrives, he

speaks on behalf of God.

Joseph answered Pharaoh, “It is not in

me; God will give Pharaoh a favorable

answer.” (Gen 41:16)

Then Joseph said to Pharaoh, “The

dreams of Pharaoh are one; God has

revealed to Pharaoh what he is about to

do, (Gen 41:25).

It is as I told Pharaoh; God has shown to

Pharaoh what he is about to do, (Gen

41:28)

And the doubling of Pharaoh's dream

means that the thing is fixed by God, and

God will shortly bring it about, (Gen

41:32)

The name of God hasn’t even been mentioned in the

royal court.

Nobody knows Him there.

Nobody there hears His Word.

But then Joseph arrives.

And God is the subject of the first sentence

he speaks.

So Pharaoh says to his servants

Can we find a man like this in whom is the Spirit

of God? (v38)

Now Pharaoh is speaking about God.

v39 Since God has shown you all this, there

is none so discerning and wise as you are

Here is a man who knows God!

He knows what God has said, and He knows what God will do!

This man knows the mind of God!

He must be filled with the Spirit of God

because what he speaks to me is the Word of

God!

You see how wonderfully Joseph points us to Jesus

here.

그런데 요셉이 불려 와서 그는 하나님을 대언하고

있지 아니한가!

‘요셉이 바로에게 대답하여 이르되 내가 아니라 하나님께서 바로에게 편안한 대답을 하시리이다. (16 절) 요셉이 바로에게 아뢰되 바로의 꿈은 하나라 하나님이 그가 하실 일을 바로에게 보이심이니이다. (25 절) 내가 바로에게 이르기를 하나님이 그가 하실 일을 바로에게 보이신다 함이 이것이라. (28 절) 바로께서 꿈을 두 번 겹쳐 꾸신 것은 하나님이 이 일을 정하셨음이라 하나님이 속히 행하시리니…

(32 절)’ 하나님의 이름이 이 왕궁에서 언급된 적이 없었습니다.

하나님을 아는 사람이 아무도 없었으니까요.

- 누구도 하나님의 말씀에 유념하지 않았습니다.

- 그런데 요셉이 등장합니다.

- 그리고 그가 밷은 첫 마디에 하나님께서 그

주제가 되고 있는 것입니다.

바로가 신하들에게 말합니다.

이와 같이 하나님의 영에 감동된 사람을 우리가 어찌 찾을 수 있으리요? (38 절)

이제 바로가 하나님에 대하여 말하기 시작합니다.

‘하나님이 이 모든 것을 네게 보이셨으니 너와 같이 명철하고 지혜 있는 자가 없도다.’ (39 절) 여기 하나님을 아는 자가 있도다!

- 그는 하나님께서 말씀하신 것을 알고 하나님이

무엇을 하실 지 아는도다!

- 이 사람은 하나님의 마음을 아는 자로다!

- 그는 하나님의 말씀을 내게 하는 것으로 보아

하나님의 성령이 충만한 사람임에 틀림이 없다.

여러분! 요셉이 얼마나 훌륭히 우리를 어떻게

예수님께로 인도하고 있는 지 아시겠습니까?

‘하나님이 보내신 이는 하나님의 말씀을 하나니 이는 하나님이 성령을 한량 없이 주심이니라. (요 3:34) 나는 아버지께서 내게 주신 말씀들을 그들에게 주었사오며…(요 17:8)

He whom God has sent utters the words of

God (Jn 3:34).

I have given them the words that you gave

me, (Jn 17:8)

No-one knows the Father except the Son and

anyone to whom the Son chooses to reveal

Him.

(So) Come to me you who are weary and

heavy laden and I will give you rest, (Matt

11:27, 28).

Jesus is the wise and wonderful counselor who

comes to you in the mysteries of your life, when

you are pressed down by the burdens of you

responsibilities, where you don’t know where to

turn or what to do.

He knows the mind of God because He is the Son of God.

He is God with us.

What He says is the Word of God, and it

will come to pass.

ii. The Wise Counselor is Appointed and Honored Pharaoh says, ‘You shall be over my house, and all

my people shall order themselves as you command,’

(v40)

You have the wisdom of God, so I am handing authority over to you.

See I have set you over all the land of Egypt (v41)

Pharaoh wants all the people to know that authority

has been given to Joseph.

So he takes the signet ring and puts it on

Joseph’s hand (v42)

He clothes Joseph in garments of fine linen (v42)

He puts a golden chain round his neck (big change from the collar of iron!)

He rides in the chariot, and they called out before him ‘bow the knee!’ (v43)

You read this and it makes you think about Jesus

the wise and faithful One who has been raised from

내 아버지께서 모든 것을 내게 주셨으니 아버지 외에는 아들을 아는 자가 없고 아들과 또 아들의 소원대로 계시를 받는 자 외에는 아버지를 아는 자가 없느니라. (그러므로) 수고하고 무거운 짐 진 자들아 다 내게로 오라 내가 너희를 쉬게 하리라. (마 11:27-28)’ 예수님께서는 우리가 우리의 책임으로 인하여 짐을

지고 힘들어 하고 어디를 향해야 하며 무엇을 해야

옳은 지 모를 때 우리의 인생에 다가오시는 지혜롭고

명철이 있으신 조언자 이십니다.

- 하나님의 이드님이시니 하나님의 마음을

아시는 분이십니다.

- 우리와 함께 계시는 하나님이십니다.

- 그가 말씀하시는 것은 모두 하나님의

말씀이시며 실현될 말씀인 것입니다.

나. 지혜로운 조언자로 임명되어 권세를 얻다. 바로의 말입니다. ‘너는 내 집을 다스리라 내 백성이 다 네 명령에 복종하리니 내가 너보다 높은 것은 내 왕좌뿐이니라.’ (40 절)

- 너에게는 하나님의 지혜가 있다, 그러므로

내가 네게 권좌를 내리노라.

- ‘내가 너를 애굽 온 땅의 총리가 되게 하노라 하고…’ (41 절)

바로가 사람들에게 요셉에게 권좌가 부여되었다는

것을 선포합니다.

- 자기의 인장 반지를 빼어 요셉의 손에 끼우고

- 그에게 세마포 옷을 입히고

- 금 사슬을 목에 걸고 (큰 쇠사슬 대신!)

- 자기에게 있는 버금 수레에 그를 태우매

무리가 그의 앞에서 소리 지르기를 엎드리라 하더라 (43 절)

이 말씀을 읽으며 우리는 죽음에서 다시 사신

지혜롭고 신실한 분 예수님에 대하여 생각하게 됩니다.

하나님이 그를 지극히 높여 모든 이름 위에 뛰어난

이름을 주사 모든 무릎을 예수의 이름에 꿇게

하시고… (빌 2:9-11)

the death. He was exalted to the highest place that at

the name of Jesus every knee should bow (Phil 2:9-

11).

Jesus comes to us with the message of grace in a

world of trouble, and when you see who He is, the

wise response is to honor Him and appoint Him as

Lord and master over your life.

Place him over your house, over your life.

Bow the knee!

Order your life at His command.

iii. The Wise Counselor Supplies the Need of the People Here again Joseph points us very wonderfully to

Jesus.

Joseph sets up these centers for gathering grain in every city.

The location is important: Easy access for all the people

The seven years of plenty came and went. And then

the time of famine arrived. And we read in v55

When all the land of Egypt was famished,

the people cried to Pharaoh for bread.

Pharaoh said to all the Egyptians, “Go to

Joseph. What he says to you, do,” (Gen

41 v55)

The king does not say, ‘Go to the storehouses.’

He says, ‘Go to Joseph!’

He is the one who has what you need. Joseph is the one who will open the

storehouses and feed you.

You read that and you hear the voice of Jesus, the

Wonderful Counselor saying;

I am the bread of life, whoever comes to me shall not hunger, and whoever believes in

me shall never thirst (Jn 6:35).

If anyone is thirsty let him come to me and

drink (Jn 7:37)

All that the Father gives to me will come to

me and whoever comes to me I will never

cast out. (Jn 6:37)

예수님께서는 문제가 많은 세상에 은혜의 메시지를

갖고 오십니다. 우리가 그 분이 누구신 지 알게 되면

지혜로운 우리의 반응은 그 분께 영광을 돌려 드리며

우리 인생의 주로 주인으로 모시는 것일 것입니다.

- 가정과 삶 가운데 모시기 바랍니다.

- 무릎을 그 분 앞에서 꿇으시기 바랍니다.

- 그 분의 명령 앞에 여러분의 인생을 드리시기

바랍니다.

다. 현명한 조언자는 사람들의 필요를 채우십니다. 여기에서 요셉이 다시 우리에게 아주 훌륭히 예수님을

나타내고 있습니다.

- 요셉이 곡식을 각 성읍의 중심지에 쌓아둘

장소를 마련합니다.

- 위치가 중요한 것은 모든 사람들이 쉽게

다가갈 수 있게 될 수 있으니까요.

7 년 동안의 풍년이 지나 갑니다. 그리고 흉년이

왔습니다. 그리고 55 절에서 이런 말씀을 주십니다.

‘애굽 온 땅이 굶주리매 백성이 바로에게 부르짖어 양식을 구하는지라 바로가 애굽 모든 백성에게 이르되 요셉에게 가서 그가 너희에게 이르는 대로 하라 하니라.’ (55 절) 왕이 ‘자장고로 가라’고 하지 않고

- ‘요셉에게 가라’고 합니다.

- 너희가 필요한 것을 갖고 있는 사람이다.

요셉이 창고를 열어 너희에게 먹을 것을

주리라!

또 우리는 예수님, 좋으신 조언자이신 그 분의

목소리를 듣습니다.

- ‘나는 생명의 떡이니 내게 오는 자는 결코 주리지 아니할 터이요 나를 믿는 자는 영원히 목마르지 아니하리라.’ (요 6:35)

- 누구든지 목마르거든 내게로 와서 마시라. (요

7:37)

- 아버지께서 내게 주시는 자는 다 내게로 올 것이요 내게 오는 자는 내가 결코 내쫓지 아니하리라. (요 6:37)’

그 분께 가서 필요한 것을 받으라!

- 그 분은 우리의 모든 죄를 덮을 만한 저장고를

갖고 계십니다.

- 능력의 저장고, 우리를 유지하고 견디게 하기

충분한 그런 저장고 말씀입니다.

Go to Him to receive what you need.

He has a storehouse of forgiveness, with enough to cover all your sins.

A store house of strength, sufficient for you

to stand and endure

A storehouse of wisdom, for all the perplexing decisions of life.

Christ is the one who opens all the storehouses of

grace!

They are all His and when you come to Him,

He will make sure that you have all that you need.

The last thing I want to say is this.

We’ve spoken about the troubled leader, and

the wise counselor

But there’s one more character in the story:

3. The Forgetful Servant (v9-13)

The Cupbearer! The man who forgot about Joseph.

But when the king was troubled, his servant remembered.

I feel sorry for the Cupbearer as he bumbles out his

apology.

I remember my offenses today, (v9).

I am so sorry! I have been here in this position for the last 2 years,

and I haven’t said a word about the about the man who is able to help you.

I know he can help you because he helped me.

He spoke the Word of God to me

But the truth is that since I have been in this

job, I haven’t given him or his word a single

thought.

The forgetful servant remembered, and he was the

one who had the great honor or introducing Pharaoh

to Joseph.

The forgetful servant was the one who introduced

the wise counsellor

who lifted the burden the troubled leader was carrying

- 지혜의 저장고, 모든 인생의 당혹케하는

결정을 도와줄 저장고…

주님이 바로 모든 은혜의 저장고를 열어 주실 분이십니다!

- 그 모든 것이 그 분의 것이며 우리가 그 분

앞으로 나갈 때

- 우리가 필요한 모든 것을 우리가 가질 수 있게

확실히 하실 것입니다.

설교의 마지막에 제가 드릴 말씀은 이렇습니다.

- 우리는 번민에 빠져 있는 지도자에 대하여

그리고 지혜로운 조언자에 대한 말씀도

나누었습니다.

- 그러나 이 이야기에는 한 인물이 더 있습니다.

3. 잘 잊어버리는 신하 (9-13절) 술 맡은 관원! 요셉에 대하여 잊어버린 사람,

- 그러나 왕이 번민하고 있을 때 그는 기억해

냈습니다.

저는 그가 미안한 마음을 갈팡질팡하며 표현한 것에

대하여 가련한 생각이 듭니다.

- 오늘 내 죄를 기억하나이다. (9 절)

- 죄송합니다. 이 자리에 지난 2 년간

있었으면서도…

- 전하께 도움이 될 사람에 대한 말씀을 드리지

않았습니다.

저를 도울 수 있었으니 전하께도 도움이 되어 드릴 수

있을 것입니다.

- 제게 하나님의 말씀을 전해 주었습니다.

- 그러나 사실 이 자리에 복직되고 나서 그에

대해서 또는 그의 말에 대해서 단 한 번도

생각해 본 적이 없습니다.

이 잊기를 잘하는 신하에게 기억이 떠 오르고 그가 큰

영광을 받고 바로를 요셉에게 소개한 사람인 것입니다.

이 건망증이 심한 신하가 바로 지혜로운 조언자를

소개한 사람인 것이지요.

- 번민하고 있던 지도자의 짐을 덜어 주었고

- 그리고 하나님의 축복을 바로에게 뿐만아니라

- 이집트에 남겨 둔 식량을 찾을 수 있었으므로

많은 나라 사람들의 생명을 구할 수 있었던

사람인 것입니다,

and brought the blessing of God not only to Pharaoh but also to

people from many nations whose lives were

saved because of the food that they found in

Egypt.

To all of us who know Jesus Christ, -

the Wonderful Counselor, the Son of God,

the One in whom we have access to all the supplies of God’s grace,

To us is given this great privilege of introducing others to Him.

예수 그리스도를 아는 모든 우리에게,

- 이 귀한 조언자, 하나님의 아드님,

- 하나님의 모든 은혜의 보고에 닿을 수 있게

연결해 주는 분,

- 우리에게 다른 사람들을 그 분께 소개할 수

있는 귀한 특원을 부여해 주신 그 분,

이 분이 바로 예수 그리스도이신 것입니다.
