You will be happy to know that Symbiosis International University has been accredited byNational Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) which is an autonomous body of University Grants Commission (UGC) with highest Grade ‘A’. This is a rare achievement of whichall of us should be proud.

This test is conducted in many cities for the convenience of students and parents too.

SNAP Test for Symbiosis Postgraduate Programmes

Symbiosis National Aptitude (SNAP) Test is a common and mandatory written test for theadmission to all the Post-Graduate Institutes of Symbiosis International University.However, it is only the first step. In addition, a candidate has to undergo the selection processof the desired Institute to qualify for the admission to the Post-Graduate programme of thatrespective Institute.

Addressing the outstanding demand from the student community, SIU has started with effectfrom this year commence an additional test for non-MBA Courses as follows:

1) SIMC – MMC-(For Pune campus only)2) SIG – M. Sc (Geoinformatics)

These tests would enable admission for students selecting the MMC course of SIMC (Pune) andfor the M. Sc (Geoinformatics) course of SIG. However in addition to this candidates appearingfor SNAP Test are also eligible for SIMC – MMC-(For Pune campus only) and SIG – M. Sc(Geoinformatics). For the candidates aspiring to take admission for M.Sc. (Biomedical), M.Sc.(Economics), M.Sc. (Medical Technology) and M .Tech. Programmes only.

b. Aptitude and discipline-specific test before GE/ PI, for candidates not appearedfor SNAP.

A student aspiring to do higher studies at Symbiosis International University needs to do thefollowing:

Stage-1: SNAP Test

• Register online at www.snaptest.org

• Upload a latest scanned photograph of your own at the time of SNAP Online

Registration.

• Follow the instructions for payment of the Test fee of Rs. 1550/- on above

mentioned website.

• Any Changes in the online application form may be m ade only up to the

closing date of Registration i.e., Wednesday, 23 November 2011. No

change is permitted after this under any circumstances.

• All disputes between candid ate and the Symbi osis Test Secretariat shall be

subject to exclusive jurisdiction of Pune city and by Arbitrator only.

• Download and print “Admit Card” through the SNAP website. [www.snaptest.org]

From Tuesday, 6 December 2011 till Sunday, 18 December 2011.

• Admit Card along with Photo Identity proof should be carried to the Test Centre at

the time of test.

(Candidates should note that authenticated Admit Card is an important document without which the candidate will not be permitted to appear for further selection processes of the institutes. If Admit card is lost, no duplicate Admit Card wil l be issued . It should be preserved till admission process is over).







SNAP Score will remain valid for admission to all Post Graduate Programmes of SymbiosisInternational University for the academic year of 2012-13.

Stage-2: Submission of Application fee to the desired constituent institute of Symbiosis In ternational University.

• Before applying to an institute a candidate must register for the SNAP 2011.

• For registration and to submit the application fees, visit desired institute’s website

• Pay the fee of Rs.1000/- as Institute’s Application fee to the institute/s in

which candidate seeking to take admission.

• The SNAP website allows a facility for online payment for application fee along with

the online payment of SNAP fee.

• Candidate can also make payment from the institute website.

• Candidate can apply for more than one institute.

Stage-3: Selection process of the chosen institute.

contact the respective institute.



Important to be follow!

Payment of Fees through Demand Draft / Cash.

• The candidates those are paying through cash or DD, should ensure the following,

1. Symbiosis Copy of Axis Bank Challan for cash payment,

2. Demand Drafts and Payment Advice Form for Demand Draft payment.

[Demand draft should be of Rs. 1550/- from any Nationalize Bank in favor of, “Symbiosis Test Secretariat”. Payable at Pune.] Should reach to Symbiosis TestSecretariat by December 1, 2011.

• International or NRI candidates are requested to check the eligibility on

International student Cell website www.scie.ac.in before SNAP Testonline registration.

• No changes w il l be accepted in the SNAP online form after the closing date

of SNAP registration.

• For the Institute shortlist policies / process and declaration of lists andGD/PI process candidates should contact to respective institute for thesame.

• Symbiosis Test Secretariat will not be held responsible for non-delivery orany delay on the part of Courier / Postal Services.

• SNAP Registration Fee is non-refundable. Application for refund of the

SNAP Registration fee w il l not be entertained for any reason.

At the time of filling online application form or while appearing for SNAP test, anyattempt to impersonate or indulge in any other malpractice would automaticallydisqualify the candidate from admission processes to all post graduate programmesof Symbiosis International University and may also lead to any legal action deemedfit.

Test Structure

SNAP/SIMC-(MMC)/SIG (M. Sc- Geoinformatics) Test duration is 120 minutes. SNAP/SIMC-(MMC)/SIG (M. Sc- Geoinformatics) Test is an objective test. Each question

has 4 responses. Candidate should choose an appropriate response. Candidate must use Blue or Black ball point pen only. Each wrong answer attracts 25% negative marks.

How to Register For SNAP 2011?

Step 1. Register for SNAP Test at www.snaptest.org The Candidate is required to upload a latest scanned photograph of own at thetime of online registration. This will generate your SNAP ID. To pay the feesdifferent ‘Payment Advice’ formats are created. Choose a payment mode andprint a ‘Payment Advice’ form accordingly.

Step 2. Pay a non-refundable fee of Rs. 1550/- according to the payment mode.

The 4 payment modes are as follows,

PAYMENT THROUGH CASH:

After online registration for SNAP 2011 print ‘Axis Bank Challan’ fromSNAP website, this is in 3 parts. Pay Rs. 1550/- in cash at any Axis Bank branch in your city. Refer to the list of branches on the website. Thebank will return two stamped parts of the ‘Axis Bank Challan’ to thecandidate.

Candidate needs to keep Student copy as payment receipt. Sign thestamped ‘Symbiosis copy’ of the ‘Axis Bank Challan’ which is required

to be sent to Symbiosis Test Secretariat at the following Address,

Fill DD details in the DD payment option in SNAP website and take printout of ‘Payment Advice’ form for DD and send it along with the DD tothe Symbiosis Test Secretariat only at the following Address. Thephotocopy of the Demand Draft be kept for further references.

ONLINE PAYM ENT THROUGH CREDIT CARD:

The candidate may directly pay online through either Master or Visa cardby following the instructions on the SNAP website after the registration.

ONLINE PAYM ENT THROUGH NET BANKING:

The candidate may transfer SNAP test fee to Symbiosis Test Secretariataccount using Net Banking option after the registration.





The University will make the best efforts to send prospectus at the

earliest possible time. Candidates are advised to contact the Universityfor Prospectus and any queries, if any. The University and SymbiosisTest Secretariat will not be held responsible for non delivery or any delayon the part of courier / postal services.

Step 3. SNAP Test Admit Card should be printed from the SNAP website. Thiswill be operative from 06 th December 2011 and will remain open till18 th December, 2011.

Ensure the following.

Download and take a print out of the Admit Card online.

Bring the Admit card with the Photo Id Proof to the Test Centre. Anacceptable photo identity is any one of the following,

Passport. Driving license. College / Institute identity card. Credit card with photograph. Voter’s ID Card. PAN Card.

At the time of the written test, it is mandatory to produce photo identity as mentionedabove. Symbiosis Authorized Person will verify and authenticate your Admit Cardagainst the photo-id. Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further GE/PIprocesses.[Please Note that no duplicate Admit Card w il l be issued in case it is lost bythe candidate].

SNAP Test is conducted in 30 cities. A candidate may choose one city of the following.The Test centre and its address will be printed on the Admit Card.

Guidelines

1. The candidate is required to report at the Test Centre latest by 1:00 p.m. The testprocedure will begin start at 1:30 p.m. Any candidates those will report after 2:00 p.m. arenot to allow to appear for the test.

2. Bring the following documents while reporting to the Test Centre:

a. Admit Card.

b. Photo identit y: any one of the follow ing: Passport Driving license College/ Institute identity card Credit card with photograph Voter ID Card Pan Card

c. Blue/ Black ballpoint pen.

3 Cell phones, calculators, watch calculators, alarm clocks, digital watches with built incalculators/ memory or any electronics gadgets will not be allowed in the examination hall.

4. Occupy the seat allotted to you by verifying the SEAT NO. pasted on the desk andindicated in your Admit Card.

5. The Test Invigilator will check your Admit Card.

6. The Test Booklet will be distributed just before the starting time of the Test. There arethree (3) separate Question Booklets namely,

Candidates are requested to attempt any one specific question booklet as per theirregistration. The candidate to ensure that the booklet is in sealed condition. If the seal isfound broken or tampered with, please bring this matter immediately to the notice of theinvigilator

7. At 2:00 p.m. the Test Invigilator will instruct you to open the seals of the Test Booklet andcommence answering the test.

8. Check immediately that all the pages of the booklet are in order. In the rare event of theTest Booklet being defective, bring it to the notice of the invigilator immediately who willarrange for the replacement of Test Booklet if required.

9.

Duration of the test is 2 hrs i.e. from 2:00 p.m. To 4:00 p.m. to answer the questions. Thecandidate may attempt any section in any order.

10. The candidate will not be allowed to exit the Hall till the test is over and until the Invigilatorcollects the answer OMR sheet at 4:00 pm. The candidate will be allowed to leave the hallonly after the answer OMR sheets of all the candidates in the hall have been collected andaccounted for.



11. Candidates found using any unfair means will forfeit their chance of beingconsidered for admission and will be debarred from receiving SNAP scores .

12. Invigilator or Symbiosis Test Secretariat Representative will stamp and authenticate your Admit Card.

Please preserve this authenticated Admit Card for further selection processes of individual

Institutes. [Please Note that no duplicate Admit Card wil l be issued in case it is lost by the candidate] .

Reservation Policy

As per the UGC guideline 2006 the following will be the reservation policy for all the institutesunder the University. (Except Symbiosis Institute of Management Studies, this has aseparate policy)

With Sanction intake:

SC : 15%

ST : 7.5%Differently-abled candidates : 3%

Over & above intake:

Kashmiri Migrants : 2 seats per programmeInternational Students : 15%

Candidates applying from categories other than open category are required to submit thesupporting documents at the time of GE/PI (if shortlisted)

As per MOU with the Ministry of DefenceDefence quota- 5% for SITM.

Categories under International Students Admissions:

Foreign N ational (FN) A student is eligible to apply as a Foreign National (FN) if he/she holds a foreign passport.

Person of Indian Origin (PIO)

A student is eligible to apply as a Person of Indian Origin (PIO) if he/she has a PIO card, and is acitizen of a country other than India.

Overseas Citizen of India (OCI)

A student is eligible to apply as a Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) if he/she has a OCI card, and is acitizen of a country other than India.

Non Resident Indian (NRI)

A student is eligible to apply as a Non Resident Indian (NRI) if he/she has appeared either for the10+2 (equivalent to the Indian 10+2) examination or Graduation outside India. It is mandatory forone of the two qualifying examinations to be given outside India.

It is mandatory for the Postgraduate Students who fall in the NRI Category and have appeared fortheir graduation in India to appear for the SNAP TEST.

How to apply to SIBM

Symbiosis International University constitutes of 14 Post Graduate Institutes which undergo SNAP Test.Candidates need to apply separately to each institute. Candidates will be then short listed based on theirperformance in the SNAP Test. Every institute has their separate cut off for short listing the students. Shortlisted candidates will have to go through a further round of selection process. Final short listing will be basedon the performance in the SNAP Test as well as performance in the selection process. Find below the stepby step procedure which will guide the candidates in applying to SIBM, Pune.



Step 1: Apply for SIBM-Pune. After applying for SNAP, you need to apply separately for SIBM Pune by paying an application fee of Rs.1000/-.

Visit www.sibm.edu. Register online for SIBM Pune using your SNAP ID & Password and make the necessarypayment.

On completion of registration, you will receive a confirmatory mail. This indicates the confirmation of yourregistration.

Registering for SIBM Pune separately is mandatory without which no candidate will be considered for shortlisting by SIBM Pune.

Hostel facilities SICSR has limited hostel facilities for girls and boys and provides database of PG accommodation to studentsif needed.

Library The main objective is to provide innovative, responsive and effective services, which will meet the changingneeds of the academic community. Our library provides a range of books, periodicals, e-resources and othermedia at appropriate levels for the need of the students.

Lab

SICSR has truly world class, state-of-the-art Computer Lab which includes powerful servers, dedicatedinternet and email access, desktops PCs and laser / DeskJet / dot-matrix printers etc. All the machines areconnected to a 10/100 MBPS network, which in turn is connected to Gigabit Ethernet. For the Internet, thereis 24x7 connectivity through 2 leased lines with 512 KBPS each. The labs are equipped with firewall andcontent filtering tools with latest Antivirus Gateway level Scanning. SICSR has also got a SDRC (SoftwareDevelopment Research Centre) which is also an innovation cell cum incubation cell.

Canteen Our canteen is not only a place to fill appetite but also a venue for a mélange of ideas and views toconverge and give rise to innovative ventures. It has a mess, which offers vegetarian delicacies, & caters todiverse palates. Delicious food is prepared following strict standards of hygiene.

Teaching Aids and Pedagogy SICSR's approach to teaching includes a combination of lectures, class discussion, group work and self-study. The faculty present key subjects in lectures and conduct class discussions based on case studies.SICSR is experimenting with blended learning using technologies on open source like Moodle

coupled with changing global norms such as the WTO rulings and increased global competitiveness, means,there is a tremendous need for professional courses in agribusiness management, and this makes it one of the most challenging and exciting sectors to be in, either as a professional or as an entrepreneur. The MBA(AB) program is thus a response to this growing need for professionals who can contribute to and engineerthe agribusiness revolution.

i i i . Masters of Business Administration – Energy & Environment [MBA – (E&E)](Two years, full time, residential, post graduate degree program)

Energy is at the core of all economic activity. Indeed, the pace of development of any country is determinedby this crucial sector. To ensure sustainable development, it is imperative to understand the relatedenvironment issues such as climate change, loss of bio-diversity, ozone layer depletion etc. These are globalissues and have been a key feature in all recent global debates. As an Institute of International Business, SIIB believes that strengthening and building capacity in this

emerging sector is critical and has taken the initiative to create young professionals who can be assets toorganizations in this crucial sector - a sector whose importance will only grow, and grow at an amazingpace, in the years to come. i) MBA – I nternational Business [MBA – IB ]

The MBA – IB students have the dual advantage of getting jobs in Domestic and International Business. Forthe batch of 2009-2011, the domestic average salary was Rs7.05 lakhs/annum and the highest salary wasRs. 15 lakhs/annum. The companies which visited SIIB for campus recruitment included respected namesfrom various sectors like BFSI, IT/ITES, Manufacturing, Telecom, Retail, Research & Consultancy and a goodnumber of Public Sector Undertakings [PSUs].

ii ) MBA – Agri Business [MBA – AB]

For the MBA – AB students, placement opportunities exist in reputed Agri business companies, agriculturemarketing companies, retail, food processing industry and financial institutions that deal in agri finance & micro finance. The program also encourages students to become entrepreneurs. For the batch of 2009-2011, the domestic average salary was Rs. 5.4 lakhs/annum and the highest salary was Rs. 16 lakhs/annum

i i i) MBA – Energy & Environnent [MBA – E&E]

The MBA – E&E students have placement opportunities in the most upcoming areas like energy,

environment and allied sectors. Companies which are mainly into energy or environment sectors will beinterested in the students with MBA perspective in this niche area. For the batch of 2009-2011, the highestsalary paid was 9 lakhs/annum and the average was 5.8 lakhs/annum. The major recruiters were IL&FS,Danfoss, CII, Enercon India and Johnson Controls.

The major portion of the Agri Business program consists of graduates in Agri Sciences or Agrirelated discipline. However non-agri graduates having work experience in agribusiness also apply.For instance Agri engineers, engineers with B.Sc. (Agri.), M. Tech., etc.

The composition of students in this programme comprises of varied academic backgrounds, howevermajority of the batch consists of engineers and the rest are from Commerce / Science backgrounds.

Method of Instruction At SCIT, a variety of instruction methods are used to impart knowledge to the students. SIOM being a residential institute houses the boys and girls in hostels with triple occupancy. The hostel

buildings are in close proximity to the Main building facilitating students’ waste no time reaching classes andgoing to library later in the evening. Hygienically prepared vegetarian and non-vegetarian (as per weeklymenu) food is served which includes Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. There is Cafeteria open in the morningand afternoon hours, for tea/coffee and snacks. There is a shop to buy essentials. The daily Laundry serviceopens in the evening. The campus has been developed with lot of green trees around with lovely flowerbeds and hedges. There is round the clock security manning the Gate and hostel premises including femaleguards for girl’s hostel. Integrated M.Sc-Ph.D Programme

Integrated PhD programme in Economics will be offered to students seeking admission for the MScprogramme. In addition, a maximum of five students of the M.Sc programme will be offered fellowship forthe integrated PhD programme based on their performance in the M.Sc programme.

M. Sc. Economics

The M. Sc in Economics offered at SSE develops a strong background in Economic Theory, Mathematics,Statistics and Econometrics and provides the basis for acquiring special focus within the related fields andsubfields of Economics. This programme, as is evident, is very quantitative in nature and approach. Itprovides an all-inclusive path to meticulously understand and apply economic theories and their applicationsto modeling and forecasting in the real world. The approach is descriptive and analytical and many issues of national and international policy are considered. While providing a strong foundation in Economic theory andpractice, the course also provides deep insights into Mathematics, Statistics, Finance, Law, Environment andPolitics. It includes internships, community projects, exposure to various statistical and software packagesand interactive learning methods designed for the students to be fully immersed in the subject matter whilepreparing them with valuable research and industry relevant skill sets.

The programme is intended for those students who desire a rigorous higher education and training in thefield of Economics with the aim to pursue career paths that include analytical, empirical, financial, advisory,managerial and research oriented work at positive and normative levels.

B. Sc. Economics

B.Sc. (Economics) is a full time, three year graduation programme that also offers a wide array of modulesnot emphasized in traditional economics graduation programs. Accounts, Environmental Economics,International Relations, Political Economy of India, Research Methodology, Law and Economics etc., aresome such subjects. This will help students develop interdisciplinary skills in terms of critical thinking, logicalanalysis and deep understanding of crucial economic issues.

Placement On successful completion of the M.Sc programme, the students can avail of assistance provided by theactive Placement Cell at SSE. The Placement Cell functioning in close coordination with its faculty advisor

works throughout the year towards generating placement opportunities for the students. It also facilitatesInternship endeavors of the students. The activities of the cell are as follows:

1. Contacting various corporate houses and NGOs regularly to invite them to campus for pre-placementtalks and recruitment.

2. Assisting the corporate who visit the campus for recruitment to conduct various tests and GDs.3. Organizing industrial visits to students and faculty to various industries as recommended by the

departments.4. Helping the final year students to get sponsoring industries to do their project work as

recommended by the departments.



5. To organize pre-placement soft skills training to bring about an overall development, improve self-esteem and confidence level, develop better presentation skills, learn to communicate well andparticipation in GDs, Mock personal interviews, etc.

Eligibility (M.Sc. in Econom ics)

• Any graduate with exposure to Economics/Mathematics/Statistics/Physics are welcome. B.Tech andB.E. graduates may also apply. Graduates from any statutory university with a minimum of 50% marks(45% for SC/ST) at graduation level.

• Students appearing for final year examinations can apply but their admission will be subject to

obtaining a minimum of 50% marks (45% for SC/ST) at qualifying examination.

Students will be selected on the basis of academic merit, written essay, group discussion and personalinterview.

Details of InfrastructureSymbiosis Institute of Technology has a magnificent and well developed infrastructure which includes wellequipped labs for B.Tech and M.Tech programs, with latest version of computers, software for modeling,design and analysis like AutoCAD, PROE and CATIA,CNC turning centre, EDM machine, MATLAB softwareand LabVIEW software which can be used for research by the students.In addition to this,SIT has an enriched library with 7620 books, 75 international and national periodicals and21 magazines. Access to e-journals, net based services, reference based services etc. all form a part of thelibrary services. The library has also links to the online data bases like EBSCO, SCOPUS and IEEE.There are separate hostels for boys and girls with all necessary amenities like hot water and Wi-Fi facility,besides arrangement for games like table tennis, push ball, carom, basket ball, foot ball etc. The hostels also

house a coffee shoppe and a snacks centre. The mess at SIT has a capacity of above 300 students andprovides hygienic food. Students have access to the SIT canteen which provides South Indian, Chinese andPunjabi preparations especially for the students.

Health Club Activities Annual medical examinations are done for the students of the institute. The institute provides cashlessmedical insurance for all the students. An in-house medical centre caters to emergency medical needs of thestudents.

PlacementThe institute has a very well organized placement cell under the leadership of Mr. Dilipraj Dongre, HeadCorporate relations. The infrastructure in placement cell includes; a seminar hall for conducting pre-placement talks, discussion rooms, interview rooms and other necessary amenities and support. The cell hasalready established contacts with a large number of renowned companies who have desired to visit theinstitute for campus recruitments. All the students of the final year have been prepared for campusinterviews through special programs on technical and soft skills, which would help them get prestigious jobs.

Method of InstructionM.Tech CAD/CAM programme has been designed to transform the students into competent professionals

who can take lead in product design and analysis using regular CAD/CAM software like PROE, CATIA andsome special simulation software and hardware. The students would be given hands on experience byworking on real life projects both in industry and in the Institute. The pedagogy of normal classes involveslearning by doing in the labs with simultaneous study of theory. The curriculum includes subjects related toanalytical skills, simulation skills and cross functional involvement like Mechatronics. A large number of seminars and presentations will make the students confident and proficient in soft skills too.

Integrated M.Tech-Ph.D Programme Integrated PhD programme in Mechanical Engineering is proposed to be started simultaneously. In additionto separate intake of this programme, a maximum of five students of the M.Tech programme can beadmitted to the second year of integrated PhD programme based on their performance in the first year of M.Tech programme.

Eligibility Atleast 55% marks in B.Tech./B.E. or equivalent in Mechanical Production/Industrial/Automobile/ Aeronautical Engineering.

Symbiosis School of Biomedical Sciences (SSBS) is a new initiative of Symbiosis International Universityunder the Faculty of Health Sciences. Under the broad umbrella of SSBS we have Symbiosis BiomedicalResearch Cluster (SBRC) and Academic programs in different disciplines of Biomedical Sciences.
