Before using your Snack Heroes™ Ice Cream Maker1.Beforeusingyouricecreammakerforthe
firsttime,ensurethatallpackingmaterialisremoved.
2.Removethemotorbasefromthepouringholecover.Washthefreezercanister,paddle,pouringholecoverandbaseinwarmsoapywater.Besuretorinseanddryallpartsthoroughly.Wipethemotorunitwithadampcloth.
3.Itisimportantwhenmakingicecreamthatthefreezercanisterisproperlyfrozen.Theicecreammakerfeaturesadoubleinsulatedbowlwhichrequiresthoroughfreezing.Forbestresultswrapthefreezercanisterinaplasticbagandplaceuprightinthebackofthefreezer,whereitiscoldest.Wrappingthefreezercanisterwithaplasticbagwillpreventodoursfromwithinthefreezerseepingintothefreezercanister.Asthereisliquidinbetweenthecanisterwalls,shakethecanistertocheckiffullyfrozen;youshouldnothearanyliquidmovingwithinthewalls.
NOTE:Continuallystoringthefreezercanisterinthefreezerallowsyoutheflexibilitytomakeyourfavouriteicecreamatamoment’snotice.

Using your Snack Heroes™ Ice Cream Maker1.Slidethemotorunitontothepouringhole
coveruntilitlocksinplace.Twotabsunderneathwill‘click’intoplace.
2.Insertthepaddleextenderintothemotorunitopening.
3.Connectthepaddletothepaddleextender.
4.Removethefreezercanisterfromfreezer.
5.Placethefreezercanisterintothebase.6.Placethepouringholecoverontothebase
sothatall4lockingtabsarealigned.
7.Rotateclockwiseslightlyuntilthetabslockintoplace.
8.Inserttheplugintothepoweroutletandturntheicecreammakeronimmediately.Thiswillpreventthepaddlefromfreezingontothefreezercanister.
9.Pourthepreparedicecreammixturethroughthepouringholeintothefreezercanister.

NOTE:Itisextremelyimportantthatthefreezercanisterisusedimmediatelyafteritisremovedfromthefreezerasitbeginstothawonceremoved.Ensuretheicecreammixtureisreadyandwellchilled,thenremovethefreezercanisterfromthefreezer.
10. Theicecreammakerprocesswilltakeanywherefrom20-40minutes.Donotturnapplianceoffduringuseasthemixturemayfreezeandpreventmovementofthepaddle.
NOTE:Ifafter40minutesthemixtureisnotyetsolidorhasthawedagain,donotcontinue.Possiblereasonsforthemixturenotfreezinginclude:thefreezercanisterwasnotcold,themixturewastoowarm,roomtemperatureisquitewarmortheproportionoftheingredientswereincorrect.
11. Toaddingredientsafterthemixtureprocesshasbegun,gentlyaddthemthroughthepouringhole.
12.Whenthemixturehasthickenedandreachesthetopofthepaddle,theicecreamiscompletelypreparedandtheicecreammakershouldbeturnedoff.Toavoidthemotoroverheating,theicecreammakermayturnitselfoffwhenthemixturehasthickenedandisready.
13.Removethepaddlefromthemixture.
14.Allowthemixturetositinthefreezercanisterfor5minutesbeforeserving.Onlyuseplastic,rubberorwoodenutensilstoservefromthefreezercanister.Metalspoonsmaydamagethebowl.
NOTE:Atthisstageyouricecreamwillbeaspoonableconsistency.
15. Tofurtherhardenthemixture,transferyouricecreamintoaclean,coveredairtightcontainerandplaceinthefreezer.

Handy Hints when using your Snack Heroes™ Ice Cream Maker• Thetimetakentomakeicecreamwill
dependontheambienttemperatureofaroom,howlongthefreezercanisterhasbeenfreezing,thetemperatureofthefreezerandthetemperatureoftheingredientsaddedtotheicecreammaker.Asageneralrule,thecoolertheseelements,thefastertheicecreammakingprocess.Thechurningprocesswilltakeanywherefrom20-40minutesbasedonthis.
• Whenfollowingrecipesthatrequirethemixturetobepre-cooked,itisbesttopreparethemixtureadayinadvancetoallowmaximumchillingtime.
• Whenpreparingicecreammixturesthatdonotrequirepre-cooking,werecommendusinganelectricmixerformaximumaeration,thenmakingsuremixtureisverycoldbeforechurning.
• Theconsistencyoftheicecream/sorbetsshouldbeaspoonableconsistencywhenfinished.Werecommendhowever,transferringyouricecreamtoacontainerandplacinginthefreezerforafurther1-2hoursforafirmicecream.
• Foodssuchascream,sugar,eggsandmilkareoftenthekeyingredientsinanicecreammixture.Theymaybesubstitutedwithsimilaringredientstosuityourtasteanddietaryrequirements.Forexample,differentvarietiesofcreammaybeused,whichwillproducevaryingflavoursandtextures.
• Duetoanincreaseinvolumeduringpreparation,themaximumamountofliquidmixtureshouldnotexceed850ml.Ifusingyourownrecipes,adaptthevolumeofmixturetotheseamounts.850mlofmixturewillcreateapproximately1litreoficecream;howeversorbetsdonotexpandasmuchthereforemakingasmallerquantity.
• Alcoholinhibitsthefreezingprocess.Ifaddingalcoholtoarecipe,addwhenthemixtureisalmostfrozen.Thebestwaytojudgethisiswhenthemixturereachesthetopofthepaddle.
• Beawarethatflavoursoffruitbasedsorbetsandicecreamsmayvarydependingontheripenessandsweetnessoffruitorjuiceused.
• Youcanreplacesugarwithanartificialsweetener.Werecommendusingonethatisinequalproportion(spoontospoon)tosugar,suchasEqualorsweetenersthatsuggestusinghalftheamountofsugarsuchasCSRSmartsugar.
• Whenstoringyouricecream,ensurethecontainerisnolargerthan1litreandwellsealed.Placingapieceofbakingpaperovertheicecreamwillpreventicecrystalsfromformingontheicecream.
• Icecreamisbestconsumedwithin 2weeks.
• Whenservingicecreamstraightfromthefreezer,allowtheicecreamtositoutatroomtemperaturefor5-10minutes;thiswillmakeservingeasier.

Tips to Making Custard Based Ice CreamAtraditionalcreamyice-creamismadefromacustardbase.Herearesomestepstohelpyouachieveperfectcustardeverytime.• Makesuretheeggsarefreshandareat
roomtemperature.• Haveyouringredientsmeasuredoutand
readysothatyouarenotleavinganythingwaiting.
• Usingawirewhiskorelectrichandmixer,beattheeggyolksandsugarinalargedeepbowlforabout3-4minutesoruntillightandcreamy.Thecolourwillgoquitelight.
• Placethemilk/creamrequiredfortherecipeinasaucepan.
• Heatthemilkmixtureonalow/mediumheatuntilthemixturelookslikeitisalmostabouttoboil.Agoodguideiswhenlittlebubblesstarttoappeararoundtheedgesofthemilk.Becarefulnottoboil.Shouldyouboilthemilkyouwillneedtostartagain.
• Usingawirewhisk,whiskthehotmilkmixturegraduallyintotheeggmixturemakingsurethatthetwoarewellcombined.
• Returnthemixtureintoacleansaucepanandcookoveralowheat,stirringconstantlywithawoodenspoon.Thecustardmixtureisreadywhenitthickensandcoatsthebackofaspoon.Totestthisplacethewoodenspoonintothecustardmixturethenturnthespoonover.Runyourfingeroncedownthebackofthespoon.Ifthecustardisthickenoughitwillkeepthefingermark,ifitisstillrunnythemixturewilleithernotgrabontothebackofthespoonandlookverythinorthefingermarkwillnotstay.
• Ifthemixtureseparatesorcurdlesthenheatistoohigh.
• Donotleavethecustardunattendedwhilecooking.
• Thecustardwilltakeanywherefrom5-15minutestothickendependingonthetype/sizeofsaucepanused.Itisbesttousealowheatasdifferentstovetypeswillvarygreatlyinheat.
• Oncethecustardhasthickened,transferthemixtureintoaheatproofbowl.Allowthemixturetocoolbeforeplacingintotherefrigerator,coverandchillforseveralhoursbeforeuse.

Care & Cleaning
• Alwaysturnthepoweroffandremovetheplugfromthepoweroutletafteruseandbeforecleaning.
• Washthefreezercanisterinwarmsoapywater.Thiscanbedoneiftheunitisstillpartiallyfrozen;itwillnotdamageorcracktheunit.However,iftheunitisstillpartiallyfrozenyoumustdryimmediatelyasthewaterwillstarttofreezeinsidetheunit.Besuretorinseanddrythoroughly.Donotuseabrasivescouringpads,powdersorcleaners.
NOTE:Neverplacethefreezercanisterinthefreezerifitisstillwet.
• Pouringholecover,paddleandbasemaybeplacedonthetopshelfofthedishwasher.
NOTE:Neverplacethefreezercanisterinthedishwasher.
• Themotorunitshouldbecleanedbyusingadampcloth.
NOTE:Neverimmersemotorunitinwater.• Donotusesharpobjectsorutensils
insidethefreezercanister.Sharpobjectswillscratchanddamagetheinsideofthefreezercanister.Aplastic,woodenorrubberspoon,orspatula,maybeusedwhentheapplianceisinthe‘OFF’position.
