Smile REPORT
Dear Friends of the Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic,
In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to take a moment to tell you how much your support means to me, but also to more than 13,000 patients of the Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic. Thank you for supporting the clinic and its programs that provide dental treatment to those less fortunate.
I know I am thankful for many things, and one of them is a healthy smile. A healthy smile is something many of us take for granted. We are learning how important it is to have good oral health, and how it is linked to better overall health. Unfortunately, when it comes to oral health, there are people in Waukesha County who suffer from poor oral health and don’t have smiles they can be proud of. The Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic is dedicated to changing this and making more smiles healthy and happy.
With your help, the Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic continues to be a resource and the only full-time dental facility in Waukesha County that serves low-income, uninsured and underinsured children and families, providing professional, compassionate care at our clinic in Waukesha. Most services are provided by a paid dental team, but we are also very grateful for the more than 200 volunteers who help us make smiles healthy throughout the year.
Fees for services account for only 46% of our operating revenue. Every year, we must raise 54% of the money it takes to be a best-in-class clinic. Every gift makes a difference.
We hope you will continue to support the Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic. Your gift will help ensure that vulnerable children and adults no longer suffer from dental pain – and enable us to create many more healthy smiles.
With gratitude,
Renée Ramirez, Executive Director

stewardship and event management. In her spare time, Dawn enjoys volunteering for other mission driven organizations and spending time with her family and friends. She lives in Pewaukee with her two daughters and two dogs.
Meet New WCCDC Staff
My name is Lindsay Solheid and a student at Marquette University. During the summer of 2016 I was given an internship at the WCCDC. I worked on creating a larger social media presence,
a consistent brand, and designed marketing pieces to be used as way to gain donors for the organization. I also wrote stories focused on patient
experiences for newsletters, and in doing so, I was able to appreciate the magnitude of the impact the clinic has on the health of its patients. This internship allowed me to better understand how much work and dedication it takes to run a successful nonprofit organization, but also to know that I want to pursue a career that is centered around helping others. I would not trade my experience for the world and the Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic will always have a special place in my heart.
Tomorrow’s results are created by today’s dreamers. Many of our longtime supporters dream of a way to help the WCCDC grow. Some find a good way to accomplish that is to designate the clinic as the beneficiary of all or part of their retirement savings plan or life insurance policy. These extraordinary gifts provide an estate tax deduction and have a tremendous impact on our ability to sustain our mission.
Charitable giving is not only for the wealthy. Gifts large and small are important. What better way to thank the WCCDC for making a huge impact in your community than to make a contribution from your estate through a bequest? By making a bequest or other planned gift, you will help the clinic continue to make an important difference in Waukesha County for years to come.
If you would like information on how to leave your legacy and include the WCCDC in your will and/or other estate plans, contact our development director at 262.953.4692.
Welcome Dawn Wollenzien

Leaving Your Legacy with the WCCDC
Fourth Annual Laugh for a Smile Marks Clinic’s 8th Year
Waukesha County Executive Paul Farrow was toasted and roasted at Laugh for a Smile 2016, the annual fundraiser of the Waukesha County Community Dental Clinic. More than 250 people were on hand November 9 as the WCCDC celebrated its fourth annual Laugh for a Smile at the Country Springs Hotel. The event raised more than $60,000 was raised to support the organization’s dental programs.
“Thanks to County Executive Paul Farrow for allowing us to laugh at his expense. We are also so grateful for so many in our community, whose generosity will allow us to continue to provide critical dental care for children and adults throughout Waukesha County,” said Renee Ramirez, the WCCDC’s Executive Director.
Local auctioneer Dan Pronley led the live auction and Gift of a Healthy Smile appeal during the deliciously catered event. Before the show, guests mingled and participated in a silent auction featuring a variety of gift packages and baskets.
Farrow was roasted by State Sen. Leah Vukmir, assistant majority leader, Dr. Douglas Hastad, president of Carroll University, and Pete Farrow, Paul’s brother and CEO and general manager of Group Health Cooperative of Eau Claire.
The Chairman’s Smile Award was presented to Paul Farrow in appreciation of his support, while in the legislature and now as county executive, of the mission of the WCCDC.
“Waukesha County is very fortunate to have someone like Paul leading our government, and working alongside us to make Waukesha County the most prosperous, safest and healthiest place to live,” Ramirez said.
The Community Partner Award was presented to the Waukesha County Dental Society in appreciation of its longstanding partnership with the WCCDC. From the very beginning, the Waukesha County Dental Society has been involved helping to ensure its success, donating countless hours, talent and treasure to the clinic.
“Once again, we wish to celebrate the WCCDC and recognize eight years of service to the community,” said Ramirez. “I’m so grateful to County Executive Paul Farrow, Denise Thiel and her daughter Alyssa for sharing their story, our generous sponsors, to those who helped organize the event, to those who came out to celebrate with us, and to those who donated items for our silent and live auctions.”
The presenting sponsors were ProHealth Care, GE Healthcare, and Carroll University. Other community sponsors included Aurora Health Care, Dick and Karen Bertrand, Century Fence, Children’s Community Health Plan, Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, First Bank Financial Centre, Henry Schein Dental, M3 Insurance, Metal-Era, Park Bank, Preventive Healthy Dental Products, R&R Insurance, TEMPO Waukesha.
