The "Information Age" is upon

us. Technologies are changing

rapidly, providing access to

more and more information.

How do you know what is

most important in dentistry?

Who are the visionaries, the

leaders? What is the first step

to your new smile?

SMILE MAG seeks to capture

the essence of all ages, to

provide not just important

information but an insightful

study of general and cosmetic

dentistry.

The Dental Spa team is

passionate, creative, talented,

rather good looking bunch of

individuals with mad skills.  With

our magazine, we seek to serve

as a guidepost, to educate and

give you a glimpse of HOW

fanatical we are about dentistry

All the best,

WELCOME TO OUR FIRSTSMILE MAGAZINE EDITION

Detailed examination, including a medical

questionnaire & x-rays; Digital photographs of the

face & teeth; Impressions of the teeth to make a

cast of your teeth; Possible wax ups of the casts to

determent/plan your “new” smile.

Treatment plan discussions; remember there is

nothing simple about redesigning one’s smile.

As with all other dental procedures, careful planning

and detailed discussions are essential

to have a predictable outcome in creating that

ORALHYGIENEThe most important aspect of taking care ofyour oral health is to ensure you clean yourteeth every day  following this routine:> Brush your teeth at least twice a day, preferably   with an electric toothbrush;> Use dental floss or interdental brushes to   clean in between your teeth;> Use a mouthwash regularly;> Brush your tongue as part of your daily routine.

Good oral care begins before a baby's first tooth. Baby teeth start tobreak through the gums at around 6 months. From healthy gums comehealthy teeth.

When should your baby see the dentist? It is generally recommended that a child be seen by the age of 1 orwithin 6 months after his or her first tooth appear.

Kids have all their baby teeth by age 3. These are called primary teeth.Baby teeth start falling out to make room for the permanent teeth. Gapsbetween baby teeth are normal.

Most teenagers have all their teeth by age 13. Girls develop+- 2 years before boys; therefor girls teeth erupt earlier than boys.

Bottle tooth decay is a serious problem, with a bottle, teeth are exposedto sugar over several hours. To avoid it, don't put your baby to bedwith a bottle, except if it is water.

The patient came to THE DENTAL SPA for an emergency appointment, his front crown of more than 20 years

fell out. On close examination, we established that the root has fractured below the gum line which made it

impossible to fix.

with Dr. Walter Reynecke

The Dental Spa

Case of the month

Apart from the surgical aspect that took 3 months, this patient walked away within a week with a brand new smile.

After the consultation & xrays, it was decided to remove the fractured root and place an immediate titanium

implant in it's place. A temporary crown was made that same day.

After a healing period of around 3 months, and confirmation that the bone has integrated into the implant, it

was ready for the final impressions to manufacture the new porcelain crown.

During the healing period, the patient has shown an interest in improving the overall appearance

of his smile. Standard digital photographs and impressions for study models were taken and an

indepth treatment plan was drawn up that covered both the patients’ clinical and cosmetic needs.

Once the treatment plan was approved by the patient, preparations began for his transformation.

On day one, the upper eight (8) front teeth were prepared where all previous restorations and

some of the teeth surfaces were removed to make room for the new porcelain.

Temporary acrylic crowns were fitted the same day after the impressions were taken for the

laboratory to manufacture the new porcelain crowns and veneers.

The new all porcelain crowns were then tried and checked. With the permission of the patient, the

final cementation took place the same day.
