OVERVIEW
Small-and-medium-enterprise (SME) development has been broadly acknowledged across the globe as the key driver to reduce unemployment and poverty. Many governments, both in developed and the developing countries, are therefore trying to establish fertile macroeconomic environments to motivate entrepreneurs to start businesses to achieve those goals. Africa has also come to the realisation that SMEs are the key to reducing the chronic unemployment and resultant poverty on the continent. We will explore the progress of African countries in establishing conducive start-up environments in their respective coun-tries over the course of the year.
