GASKET AGING TEST 1.0 ABSTRACT
1.1 Object
Subject the supplied Gasket Material to the Gasket Aging Test outlined in NEMA 250, Section 5.14.1, as requested in Wavetronix LLC Purchase Order No. 10981, dated February 15, 2006.
1.2 Conclusions
On completion of testing, tensile strength values are greater than 75% of initial values. On average, elongation values are greater than 60% of initial values. Therefore, the test material samples were determined to have passed the requirements of NEMA 250, Section 5.14.

3.0 TEST REQUESTED
Subject the test samples to the Gasket Aging Test outlined in NEMA 250, Section 5.14.1, as follows: Gasket material used in a Type 2, 3, 3R, 3 RX, 3S, 3 SX 4, 4X, 5, 6, 6P, 12, 12K, or 13 enclosure shall be of such quality that test samples subjected to a temperature of 69° to 70°C (156 - 158°F) in circulating air for 168 hours have a tensile strength of not less than 75% and an elongation of not less than 60% of values determined for unaged test samples.
4.0 INSTRUMENTATION, PROCEDURE AND RESULTS
4.1 Instrumentation
All instrumentation is calibrated regularly by instruments directly traceable to the National Institute of Standards and Technology, and in accordance with MIL-I-45208A, ANSI/NCSL Z540-1-1994 and ISO/IEC 17025: 1999.

4.2 Procedure
The test samples were placed inside the temperature chamber and subjected to a temperature of 70°C for a period of 168 hours. The samples were then stabilized at ambient conditions. The aged gasket and an unaged gasket were then subjected to a tensile test. Figure No. 1 depicts a temperature chart showing chamber temperature during a typical 24-hour period of exposure. Figure Nos. 2 through 5 include graphic and print-out test data. Photograph Nos. 1 and 2 provide views of the test setup.
4.3 Results
On completion of testing, tensile strength values are greater than 75% of initial values. On average, elongation values are greater than 60% of initial values. Therefore, the test material samples were determined to have passed the requirements of NEMA 250, Section 5.14.
