has been a killer for blades. When cutting nails, deck screws, steel and copper pipe, 6mm or ¼” bolts you won’t get a better performing blades than the SMART® “Nail Buster Extreme’ range.

What quickly reduces the life of a blade when you are cutting nails is heat. So as to maximise the life of your blade we need to reduce the friction. That is exactly what the titanium coating does, it reduces friction. Contrary to what many people believe the coating doesn’t make “the teeth harder wearing” it increases the life of the blade by its friction reducing properties. Furthermore if the multi-tool you are using is variable speed, like the SMART® Multi-tools shown on page 1-6, reduce the speed by 1 speed setting, this also will increase blade life.

032BM – 32mmWide Bi-Metal Blade “Nail Buster”Cutting different materials requires blades made of different steel. That’s why SMART® has such a broad

range of blades because there is no such thing as “1 blade suits all”.

SMART® uses only premium High Speed Steel (HSS), Bi-Metal or Carbon Steel blade material sourced from Europe or USA. The reason for this simple.

High Speed Steel (HSS) – is used on the semi-circular and full round flat blades as HSS offers high wear resistance and will withstand increases in temperature without losing its temper which is necessary with cutting thin sheet steel and fibreglass.

Carbon Steel – typically used for manufacturing the timber cutting blades. This material is very tough and durable meaning that the timber cutting blades can be up to 67mm long as well from 10 to 63mm wide. Also this material allows us to heat treat the edge and provide a variety of tooth patterns to suit your application.

Bi-Metal - Bimetal blades offer more cutting versatility and longer life through their unique construction. The bi-metal terminology refers to how the blade is constructed. With a bi-metal blade, the edge of the blade is constructed of a high speed steel ribbon while the body of the blade is made of spring steel. The two sections are then is electron-beam welded together. The advantages of a bi-metal blade is that the hardened edge of the blade stays sharp longer than a standard carbon blade and the spring steel body allows the blade to flex.
