Power Line Communications (PLCC) is a promising

technology that is rapidly gaining traction in

Smart Meter Reading (AMR/AMI) demand response

and SCADA applications.

PLCC is the most efficient and reliable communications

Interface at the lowest cost.

In India., Brain & Iris is the only company that offers

reliable Meter Data Communication i.e., AMR/AMI applications on PLCC.


AMR/AMI Applications on PLCC

• The Single phase energy meter and PL communication

module are connected on the same phase .

• The communication between meter and PL node is

over the serial channel (UART/RS485).

• PL node will be continuously polling to the single phase energy meter over

the serial port to get the metering information.

• The Received metering information is sent to the AMR/AMI DCU over the powerline channel using FSK/OFDM technology.

• Polling time interval is set as 2 min and can be adjusted according to the user.

• Each PL node has a unique MAC ID for identification.
