Decisions in Oil & Gas Applications

Collaborative Effort: The SMART team is engaging with university, national lab, and industry partners, and is utilizing data collected from fi eld laboratories that have been part of the Oil & Gas Program over the past six years. The SMART team will continue to collaborate with other oil and gas research efforts — such as those of the national laboratories — to collect and analyze data and share insights.

Additionally, SMART-OG will be integrated with SMART-CS, which is focused on research within the Carbon Storage Program, forming the overall SMART Initiative to transform the understanding of the subsurface through real-time visualization, forecasting and virtual learning.

Faults and Fracture NetworksIdentify new ways to dynamically visualize faults, fracture networks and associated fluid flow during stimulation and production from unconventional formations.

Optimizing Hydrocarbon ProductionDevelop a workflow for strengthening timely unconventional oil and gas operational decisions by forecasting reservoir response to production strategies.
