Since 2001 Knorr-Bremse has been supplying EBS systems as Original Equipment (OE) to a wide range of trailer manufacturers. Over these 20 years, there have been just two variants. Generation One (TEBS4) which was fitted from 2001-2007 and Generation two (TEBSG2) from 2008-present. So, when it comes to identifying which EBS system you have, the age of the trailer is a good indicator. That is unless the trailer has under gone a retro-fit.

Pre 2007 Trailers will be equipped with TEBS4 (IAM replacement Module II39782N50 (new) or II39782X50 (Remanufactured). Post 2007, TEBSG2 will be fitted. This is where confusion comes in. There are seventeen different OE references as the TEBSG2 system is further divided into three sub-system types; TEBSG2.0 (OE fit 2008 to 2010),

TEBSG2.1 (OE fit 2010 to 2014) and finally the TEBSG2.2 (OE fit 2013 to the present day).

In order to streamline supply and improve aftermarket support for replacement units, these references have been rationalised down to just five part numbers. So, in this case identifying which G2 system you have, the table provided will help identify the correct Module by part number. Since 2016 all of the TEBSG2 Aftermarket replacement modules have a silver top/lid to help visually identify them, as well as having “Service Product” embossed twice on the top of the module.

Note: In all cases the Aftermarket replacement Modules once fitted require “programming”. The Oil Separator is a low profile but technically challenging aid that contributes to reducing engine emissions. To keep up with market demand febi Truck’s range of Centrifugal Oil Separators has been extended. We are now first to market with a full range for the European “BIG 7” manufacturers and supply OE quality from the Centrifugal Oil Separator market leader.

The ProblemModern commercial vehicle engines must meet strict environmental regulations related to crankcase ventilation. The gases of the crankcase ventilation system result largely from the blow-by gas between the pistons and the cylinder liner, which are produced by combustion in the cylinder. This gas carries oil and soot particles which need to be kept within the crankcase. To fulfil this task, an oil separator is required.

The SolutionOil Separators utilised in Euro 5 and Euro 6 engines work with centrifugal separation technology. Oil and soot particles are removed from the blow-by gas through centrifugal forces between 2,500 - 3,000 G at a separator speed of 7,000 - 9,000 rpm. The oil droplets get collected on the inner wall: From there, they flow to the floor of the separator before they are finally led back into the engine oil sump. This prevents unclean, ventilated crankcase gases from returning to the inlet of engines or being emitted into the environment.
