InformationsuppliedonyourenrolmentformwillbeavailabletoCHPSchoolofHospitalitysothiscanbesubmittedtotheDepartmentofIndustry,Innovation,ScienceResearchandTertiaryEducation(DIISRTE)whoisadministeringSmartandSkilledprogramandtheNationalCentreforVocationalEducationandResearch(NCVER).Thisinformationissuedforresearch,statisticalanalysis,programevaluation,postcompletionsurveysandinternalmanagementpurposesinaccordancewithourprivacypolicy.

SmartandSkilledEligibilityToaccessNSWgovernment-subsidisedtraining,includingfeeexemptionsorconcessions,youmustbe:1. anAustraliancitizenormeetthecriteriaofbeinganAustralianpermanentresident,a
permanenthumanitarianvisaholder,oraNewZealandcitizen;2. aged15yearsorolder;3. nolongerbeatschool;4. livingorworkinginNSW;or5. registeredasaNSWapprenticeornewentranttrainee.AustralianAboriginaland/orTorresStraitIslanderstudentswholiveorworkwithinNSWandwholiveatidentifiedpostcodeswhichborderNSWshallhaveaccesstogovernmentsubsidisedtrainingplaces.WhenyouenrolinaNSWgovernmentsubsidisedcourseyouwillberequiredtopaytheSmartandSkilledstudentfee,unlessyouqualifyforafeeexemptionorfeeconcession.IfyouarenotaresidentofNSWorworkingwithinNSW,youhavetheoptionofpayingthecommercial,orfee-for-servicefee.Alistofqualificationsandstudentfeescanbefoundathttp://www.training.nsw.gov.au/smartandskilled/prices_fees.htmlSmartandSkilledFeesUnderSmartandSkilledyouarechargedonefeeforthewholequalification.Thismeansyou’llknowthetotalcostofyourcoursebeforeyoustart.Thefeeyoupaywilldependonyoureligibilityandyourpreviousstudyhistory.Thefeeyoupay,orthefeeexemptionorSmartandSkilledFee-FreeScholarshipyoureceive,onlycoversyourfirstattemptatyourcourse,andthefirstattemptatanyunitofcompetencywithinyourcourse.IfyouwanttorepeataunitofcompetencyyoushoulddiscussthiswithourRTOManagerassoonaspossible.Aseparatefeewillbechargedforanysecondorfurtherattempttosuccessfullyachieveaunitofcompetencyandasthisfeewillbedeterminedonyourspecificcircumstancesandtrainingneeds,thisfeewouldnotbeknownattimeofenrolment.Thepriceofaqualification,whichismadeupofthegovernmentsubsidyandstudentfee,willcoverthetotalcostsuncuredbyCHPSchoolofHospitalitytodeliverthetraining,includingassessment.However,theremaybesomeinstancesofapersonalcosttoastudyoverandabovethestudentfee.Thesecostsinclude:
• EssentialequipmentandotheritemsthatthestudenthasthechoiceofacquiringfromCHPSchoolofHospitality,orfromasupplierotherthanCHPSchoolofHospitality,thatbecomethephysicalpropertyofthestudent,areretainedbythestudentoncompletionoftraining,andarenotconsumedduringthetraining
• Anoptionalchargeforanitemthatisnotessentialforthestudenttocompletethetraining• Anoptionalchargeforanalternativeformforaccesstoanitemorservicethatisanessential
componentofthetraining,butisotherwisemadereadilyavailableatnoadditionalfeebyCHPSchoolofHospitality

• Fieldtripsandfood,transportandaccommodationcostsassociatedwiththeprovisionoffieldtripsthatformpartofthetraining
Whenyourenrolmentiscompleteandyouhavepaidtheapplicablefeesyouwillbeentitledtoattendclasses,participateintraining,sitforexaminations,trainingandassessmentmaterials,andreceiveeducationalawards,useamenitiesandservices.
TuitionpayingbyinstalmentsisconditionalInsomecircumstances,CHPSchoolofHospitalitymayallowastudenttopaytheirtuitionfeebyinstalments.ThiswillbedeterminedbythecoursebeingundertakenbythestudentorUnitofCompetency(s)enrolledinto.CHPSchoolofHospitalitycomplieswithClause7.3oftheAustralianSkillsQualityAuthority’s(ASQA)User’sGuide:StandardsforRegisteredTrainingOrganisations(RTOs)2015whereCHPSchoolofHospitalitywillnotrequireaprospectiveorcurrentlearnertoprepayfeesinexcessofatotalof$1500.Studentswillbegivenfour(4)weeks’noticeoftheirnextinstalmentduedate.Failuretopaytheinstalmentbytheduedatewillresultinalettersuspensionbeingissuedtothestudent.Unpaidbalanceforaninvoicemaybereferredtoacollectionagency.Ifyouhaveanydifficultieswithpayments,pleaseconsultourofficerbycontactingouradministrationoffice.AllSmartandSkilledstudentfeesaresubjecttochangebyStateTrainingServices.
FeeexemptionsAustralianAboriginalandTorresStraitIslanderstudentsareeligibletobeexemptfrompayingtheSmartandSkilledstudentfeeiftheyliveorworkinNSWorliveatidentifiedpostcodeswhichboarderNSW.StudentswholiveorworkinNSWandwhoreceiveadisabilitysupportpensionandstudentswithadisability(clientsofaTeacher/Consultantforstudentswithadisabilityoraspecialistprofessional)areexemptfrompayingtheSmartandSkilledstudentfee.Youreligibilityforafeeexemptionisdeterminedattimeofenrolment.Astudentwhoseeksafeeexemptiononthebasisofdisabilitywillneedtoprovide:
• AletterfromCentrelinkconfirmingreceiptoftheDisabilitySupportPension.ThelettershouldclearlyshowtheCentrelinkReferenceNumber(CRN);or
• AcurrentDisabilityPensionerConcessionCardthatshowstheCRN;or• AcurrentCentrelinkincomestatementfortheDisabilitySupportPension,whichclearly
showsthatincomeisforthedisabilitypensionandalsoshowstheCRN;or• AnyotherevidencethatclearlyshowstheCRNandconfirmsreceiptoftheDisabilitySupport
Pension;or• Documentaryevidenceofsupportneedsduetothestudent’sdisability.Thisevidencemust
bealetterorstatementfromo Amedicalpractitioner;or

o AnappropriategovernmentagencysuchasVeteran’sAffairsoraTAFENSWteacherconsultant(forstudentswithadisability),aschoolcounsellororspecialeducationcoordinator,Centrelink,aDisabilityServiceProvider,oraJobCapacityAssessor;or
o Aspecialistalliedhealthprofessional(includingarehabilitationcounsellor,psychologist,speechpathologist,oroccupationaltherapist).
• Anindividualwhoisseekinganexemptionasadependentchild,spouseorpartnerofsomeonewhoisreceivingaCommonwealthDisabilitypensionmustprovidedocumentaryevidencethatCentrelinkrecognisestheindividualasadependant.TheevidenceshouldclearlyshowtheCRNoftheDisabilityPensionRecipient.
ConcessionfeeStudentswholiveorworkinNSWandwhoreceiveoneormoreeligibleCommonwealthbenefitsorallowancesatthetimeoftheirenrolmentmaybeeligibletopaytheSmartandSkilledconcessionfeefortheirqualificationratherthantherelevantSmartandSkilledstudentfee.SmartandSkilledconcessionfeesareavailableforCertificateItoCertificateIVqualificationsandarenotavailableforDiplomaorAdvancedDiplomaqualifications.IfyouareeligibleforaSmartandSkilledconcessionfeeandagedbetween15yearsand30years,youmayalsobeeligibletoreceivetheSmartandSkilledFee-FreeScholarship.Eligiblebenefitsinclude:• AgePension• Austudy• CarerPayment• ExceptionalCircumstancesReliefPayment• FamilyTaxBenefitPartA(maximumrate)• FarmHouseholdAllowance• NewstartAllowance• ParentingPayment(Single)• SicknessAllowance• SpecialBenefit• Veterans’AffairsPayments• Veterans’ChildrenEducationScheme• WidowAllowance• Widow‘B’Pension• WifePension• YouthAllowanceIfyouarearecipientofaneligiblebenefitorallowance,theconcessionfeemayalsobeavailabletoyourdependentchild,spouseorpartner.Tocompleteyourenrolment,youwillberequiredtoprovidethefollowingproofofeligibilityforaconcession:• AletterfromtheDepartmentofHumanServices(Centrelink)confirmingreceiptofthebenefit.

Anindividualwhoisseekingaconcessionasadependentchild,spouseorpartnerofsomeonewhoisreceivingaspecifiedCommonwealthbenefitorallowancemustprovidedocumentaryevidencethatCentrelinkrecognisestheindividualasthedependant.TheevidenceshouldclearlyshowtheCRNofthebenefitorwelfarerecipient.
SmartandSkilledFee-FreeScholarshipsSmartandSkilledFee-FreeScholarshipsareacategoryof“FeeExemption”meaningthatFee-FreeScholarshiprecipientsareexemptfrompayingthestudentfees.ToeligibleforaSmartandSkilledFee-FreeScholarship,individualsmustfirstmeettherulesforthisprogram.SmartandSkilledeligiblestudentsundertakingafullqualificationuptoandincludingCertificateIVmaybeeligibleforaSmartandSkilledFee-FreeScholarshipiftheyareagedbetween15and30(inclusive)atthestartdateforthetrainingandare:
• Eligibleforaconcessionfee(i.e.Commonwealthwelfarerecipient)or• Commencingintrainingfrom1January2016andmeettheOut-f-HomeCaredefinitionat
thetimeofenrolmentandareo Aged15–17yearsandcurrentlyinout-of-homecare,oro Aged18–30yearsandpreviouslyinou-of-homecare
• Individualsareeligibleforonescholarshipperfinancialyear(commencing1July2015)andamaximumoftwoscholarshipsoverfourfinancialyears(ending30June2019).
AsocialhousingresidentorpersonontheNSWHousingRegister(waitinglist)whoseeksaSmartandSkilledFee-FreeScholarshipwillneedtoconfirm,bystudentdeclaration/signature,thattheinformationprovidedabouttheirsocialhousingstatusiscorrect.Astudentwhomeetstheout-of-homecriteriawhoseeksaSmartandSkilledFee-FreeScholarshipwillneedtoconfirmbystudentdeclaration/signaturethattheymeettheeligibilitycriteria,andifrequestedprovidesupportingevidence.Thefollowingevidencemayberequire:
• AcopyoftheChildren’sCourtCareOrder,or• Acopyofthe‘ConfirmationofPlacement’letter,or• AletterfromFamilyandCommunityServicesortheOut-of-homeCareDesignatedAgency
verifyingthatthestudentisstatutoryorsupportedcare,or• Anyotherevidencewhichclearlyshowsthatthestudentisinout-of-homecare.
Forstudentspreviouslyinout-of-homecare:
• AcopyoftheexpiredChildren’sCourtCareOrder,or• Acopyofthe‘leavingcare’letterfromtheMinisterforFamilyandCommunityService,or

• AletterfromFamilyandCommunityServicesverifyingthestudentwaspreviouslyinstatutoryorsupportedare,or
• Anyotherevidencewhichclearlyshowsthatthestudentwaspreviouslyinout-of-homecare.SmartandSkilledDeferral
PriortoCommencementofCourseStudentswhowishtodefertheirenrolledcoursespriortocoursecommencementmustcontactCHPSchoolofHospitalityadministrationnolaterthan10workingdayspriortothecoursecommencementdate.
DefermentofCommencementofCourseStudentswhowishtodefertheirenrolledcourseafterthecommencementdatearerequiredtocontactCHPSchoolofHospitalityadministrationtocompletethe‘NSWSmartandSkilledStudentServiceRequestForm’.Studentsareallowedtodefertheirstudyforamaximumoftwelve(12)monthsfromthereceiptofdeferralnotice.Studentswhodonotrecommencetheircoursewithinthetwelve(12)monthperiodofdeferralwillbenotedasadiscontinuingstudent.SmartandSkilledWithdrawalandRefundsWhereastudentwithdrawsfromtraining,CHPSchoolofHospitalitymust:• Givetheexistingstudentastatementoffeesthatincludesallfeesappliedandanyfeesrefunded,
ifapplicable• IssuethestudentwithaStatementofAttainmentandassociatedtranscriptforcompletedUnits
ofCompetencywithintwentyone(21)daysofnotificationofthediscontinuanceStudentswhowishtowithdrawfromacoursemustnotifyCHPSchoolofHospitalityadministrationofficerbywriting.PaymentofRefunds:Studentidentitymustbeverified.Allrequestsforrefundsmustbemadeinwritingbycompleting‘SmartandSkilledRequestforRefundofFees’form.Applicationsforrefundsforacoursethatisnotcancelledaregenerallyprocessedwithin28days.
ProvidertoProviderTransferAstudentundertakingaSmartandSkilledqualificationmaywithdrawfromaqualificationwithCHPSchoolofHospitalityandtransfertoanotherSmartandSkilledprovidertocompletetheirqualificationbecause:• Theychosetooftheirownaccord• CHPSchoolofHospitalitydefaults• CHPSchoolofHospitality’sSmartandSkilledcontracthasbeenterminatedTransferInProcessAstudentwhotransfersfromanotherSmartandSkilledProviderintoCHPSchoolofHospitalitywillbetreatedasanewstudent.FeestobepaidtoCHPSchoolofHospitalitymayvaryanditisdeterminedbytheDepartment.

TransferOutProcessInaneventwhereCHPSchoolofHospitality’sSmartandSkilledContracthasbeenterminatedorsuspended,CHPSchoolofHospitalitywillcontactthestudentadvising:• ThedateofforthcomingterminationofCHPSchoolofHospitality’sContractorofendingthe
deliveryoftheenrolledcourse.• Optionsforcontinuingtrainingwhichmayinclude:
o ReferringthestudenttotheSmartandSkilledwebsitetoidentifyalternativeRTO(s)inwhichstudentscantransferoutto
o ReferringthestudenttothelocalStateTrainingServiceRegionalOfficeforassistanceo ProvidingthestudentwiththeoptiontocontinuingtheirstudieswithCHPSchoolof
Hospitalityona‘fee-for-service’basis(thatiswithoutthebenefitofSubsidies)oro CHPSchoolofHospitalitywillsuggestanalternativeSmartandSkilledProvider
• Feearrangementsfortransferringstudentsincludinganyrefundthatmaybeprovided• IssuingthestudentwithaStatementofAttainmentStudentswhowishtotransfertoanotherprovidermustcompletethe‘SmartandSkilledWithdrawal/TransferForm’whichisavailablebycontactingtheAdministrationteamat20-26CanterburyRoadHurlstoneParkorbyphoning(02)95590025.
CHPSchoolofHospitalityTransferConditionsStudentsmustpayalloutstandingfeesandacceptedinvoicespriortohavingatransferapplicationapproved.
ModeofStudyYourchosencoursemaybedeliveredviaanumberofmethodsthatinclude“StructuredClassroomTraining”,“Self-pacedstudy”and/or“Workplaceobservation”.Yourallocatedtrainerwillworkwithyoutopreparetraining/sessionplantohelpachieveyourlearningoutcomeandgoals.Yourresponsibilityisto:• Readandmaintainyourtrainingmaterialsastheyareissuedtoyou;• Adviseyourtrainerifyouhavepreviousskillsandknowledgeyoubelievearerelevanttothe
currentcoursetoenablerecognitionofyourpriorlearning,priortocoursecommencement;• Completeallassessmentprojectsasrequired;• Gatherarangeofdocumentsandotherproject-basedevidenceandplacethemintoaportfolio
ofevidenceasyouprogressthroughyourcourse;and• Discussanyconcernswithyourtrainerearlysotheymayassistyoutoworkthroughyour
concerns.

RecognitionofPriorLearning(RPL)/RecognitionofCurrent
Competency(RCC)IfyouconsideryouarealreadycompetentinspecificUnitsofCompetency,youmaybegrantedanexemptionfromundertakingtheassessment,ifyouprovide:
• Proofofsubject-relevantandformaltrainingifitwasdoneinAustraliaorworkexperience(evidencemustbeunderfiveyearsold);
• Submissionofevidencesuchasauthenticateddocumentsorsamplesofworkdemonstratingrelevanceandcurrency(evidencemustbeunderfiveyearsold);and
• ParticipateinaninterviewtoascertaincurrentsillsandknowledgeIfyoumakeaclaimforRPLanumberofthingscouldhappen:
• Youmaynotbegrantedanyexemptions;• YoumaybegrantedexemptionsforsomeUnits;• YoumaybegrantedexemptionsforallUnits;and/or• Youmaybegrantedexemptionforsomepartsofsomeunits.
Whereaneligiblestudentisgrantedacredittransferforoneormoreunitsofcompetency,thequalificationpricewillbeadjustedandanewstudentfeedetermined.Thefixedcostofthequalificationwillbereducedbytheproportionofunitsofcompetencygivencredittransfer.Thevariablecostwillbereducedbythetotalcostofeachunitofcompetencygrantedcredittransfer.Oncetheadjustedqualificationpriceiscalculatedthenewstudentfeewillbedeterminedatthesamepercentageofthepricesastheoriginalstudentfeeforthatcourse(i.e.adjustedpricexfeepercentage).WhereRPLand/orcredittransferaregrantedatenrolment,CHPSchoolofHospitalitywillusetheSmartandSkilledProviderCalculatortodeterminetheapplicablestudentfee.WhereRPLand/orcredittransferisgrantedafterenrolmentorafterastudentcommencesaqualification,CHPSchoolofHospitalitywillreporttheoutcomefortherelevantunit(s)ofcompetencytoSmartandSkilled.TheDepartmentwillmakeadjustmentstothesubsidypayment

AssessmentsAssessmentwillbeflexibleandcentredonarangeofperformancecriteriaincluding:writtendocumentation(answerstoquestions/reportsetc.),simulatedworkexperiencesandobservations.Assessmentsareusedtogiveyoufeedbackonyourprogressanditmeasuresyourskillsandknowledgeagainstthequalificationrequirements.Thetrainingyouwillbeundertakingiscompetencybased.AllCHPSchoolofHospitality’strainers/assessorsareboundbyacodeofpracticetoensureassessmentsarevalid,reliable,flexibleandfair.Itisthetrainer/assessor’sresponsibilitytoensurethatallstudentsreceivethefullscopeofinformation,knowledgeandtestsrequiredtocompletetheircoursesuccessfully.Thefollowingtypesofassessmentmethodsmaybeused:

AccessandEquityinAssessments
• Allreasonablestepswillbetakentoensureyouwillbegivenafairopportunitytoundertaketheassessment;
• Ifthereareanyaspectsoftheassessmentthatareunclearandyouarenotcertainaboutyoushouldspeaktothetrainer/assessor;and
• Shouldyourequireareasonableadjustmentoftheassessmentduetoaphysicalimpairmentyoushoulddiscussthiswiththetrainer/assessorimmediately.

AssessmentFeedbackAllassessmenttasksundertakenwillbeassessedandyouwillbegivenfeedbackonyouroutcomesfromtheseassessments.Thisfeedbackwillbeaconstructivediscussionandifyouarefoundtobe‘NotYetCompetent’yourassessorwillexplaintoyouwhy,andwhatyouneedtodotogaincompetency.Ifyoudonotagreewiththedecision,youhave10workingdaysfromthedateoftheassessmenthasbeenmadetoappeal.PlagiarismPlagiarismisnotacceptedandwhereplagiarismisdetected,CHPSchoolofHospitalitywillassesstheevidenceas‘NotYetCompetent’.Ifthepracticecontinues,CHPSchoolofHospitalitywilltakesuitableactiontocanceltotraining.
QualificationsandStatementsofAttainmentCHPSchoolofHospitalitywillwithin30calendardaysofastudent’scoursecompletion,issueandprovideaAQFqualificationorastatementofattainmenttotheindividualstudentortheirnominatedrepresentativewho:
• Hasfinishedthewholequalificationand/oratleastoneunitofcompetency;• Doesnothaveanyoutstandingfees;• ProvidedCHPSchoolofHospitalitytheUSItoverify
Ifthestudenthasanoutstandingfinancialaccount,CHPSchoolofHospitalitywillnotissueaqualificationorstatementofattainmenttoyouunlesstheoutstandingamountispaid.Ifastudentdoesnotmakeafullpaymentwithinnext20workingdaysfromthenotificationdate,CHPSchoolofHospitalitywillterminateyourenrolmentwithoutissuingaqualificationorstatementofattainment.

Procedures1. Collectinginformation
• Students,prospectivestudents,staffand/orthirdpartiesareencouragedtocommunicatetheirconcerns.

Studentsmusttakecareoftheirownhealthandsafetyandthatoftheirfellowstudentstotheextentoftheircapabilities.Thismeansyoumustfollowallsafetyrules,proceduresandinstructionsoftrainersorotherstaffduringyourdaytodaytraining.
Finally,ifyousee,noticesomethingbroke,damagedorunusable,bringtotheattentionofanCHPSchoolofHospitalityemployee.
DisciplinaryProcessDisciplinaryactionmaybetakenwhenthebehaviourofastudentisdeemedasunsatisfactorywithintheguidelinessetbyCHPSchoolofHospitality:
• Wherethereisanybreachintheexpectedbehaviour,thestudentwillbefirstlycounselledbytheTrainer/Assessor;or
