Telephonics’ Small Lightweight Transponder (SLT) was specifically developed to meet military Identification Friend or Foe (IFF) requirements for Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS), rotary- and fixed-wing aircraft and shipboard applications. Partnering with an established transponder manufacturer, Telephonics designed the SLT with adaptability in mind, making it well-suited for retrofit and new platforms where Size, Weight and Power (SWaP) are of critical importance. Small Lightweight Transponder (SLT) Mark XIIA Transponder Including Mode S and 4/5 Military Mode Small & Lightweight with Advanced Capabilities Incorporating leading-edge technological advancements in electronic and mechanical packaging, the SLT will provide the smallest transponder size possible while maintaining militarized and certified All-Mode capabilities. Built for simple integration with a variety of mission control and control panel interfaces, the SLT easily adapts to meet new customer-specific requirements. The initial system version will be compatible with a serial (RS-485) control interface. Broad Operating Capabilities Telephonics’ SLT is capable of operating in Modes 1, 2, 3/A, C, 4, 5 Level 1 and 2, Mode S Level ES, Automatic Dependent Surveillance-Broadcast (ADS-B) In/Out and is compatible with TCAS II. The transponder accommodates a standard KIV-77 Cryptographic computer appliqué and will provide a variety of command and control interfaces, including but not limited to: MIL-STD-1553 RS-485 RS-232 Ethernet System design enables a comprehensive Built-in-Test (BIT) capability through the front panel with LEDs that provide a BIT summary and Crypto battery status. A front panel BIT connector enables offline fault diagnosis, fault history retrieval and future capability growth.
